I see we got a doing last night in California. I don't read to much into friendlies but seemingly ally played 5-4-1. with our striking options I think this formation is criminal. also I noticed big jig playing in the midfield. the big guys commitment to the club will never be forgotten but I hope ally is not finding a place for him in the middle of midfield.

Ah there ye go Bigcol and youz other yins that were slagging off Ally for lack of tactics. Tactic snacktics- see what happens when we try tactics and stop lumping the ball up the park?
Youz should aw hang yir heids in shame

It's looking ominous. I think we'll see the same players McCoist has been loyal to keeping a spot somewhere.

I read the pitch was in poor condition. I'd expect us to beat a 4th tier US team on a California beach.

Compared to the continuing corporate debacle, anything on-park has to be kept in perspective. But I watched the California friendly on RTV catch-up with mounting horror and disbelief. The line-up against 4th tier US amateurs (4-5-1 and a deranged diamond formation) was eloquent testament and warning on what's ahead if the club is not cleansed from the ground up and the appalling "coaching" team not replaced by proper, modern coaches. OK, it was a bounce game on a poor surface, but our incompetence reached new depths. Compared to the fast, tactically aware young Americans, Gers ran around like veritable headless chickens with nobody seeming to know what role they were supposed to play. It is manifestly clear that The Three Stooges don't have the remotest clue among them how to set up a winning team, spot a player or enhance a talent. It really doesn't matter much whom we buy, new additions will join our youngsters in being de-coached into bad players. Graham Wallace should - but of course won't - have the courage to dispatch this hapless triumvirate bag and baggage. Otherwise, last night's embarrassment will be replicated when it matters in League and Cup, a surely as night follows day.

Nbear his formation is a negative formation and I'll tell you why. if we had Philip Lahm and Patrice evra playing with us at fullback then yes this would be seen as an attacking formation. however we have Richie foster. wallace granted is in my eyes good going forward but we need similar on the right. i'm afraid because of the players we have this is a containing defensive formation designed to not get beaten or conceed goals. against 4th tier American opposition btw.
Tactical lesson over.

Nbear so your saying keep playing long ball? as ally hasn't the tactical nous to change? this doesn't make sense your actually sticking up for ally cause we all know his limitations so should accept it? am I reading this right? reality check he's way out his depth! clueless

aldair my tongue was very firmly in my cheek I was being sarcastic. Seems to have been lost on Bigcol and others which is why I prefer it when his dog posts- that is also said with a bit of levity in case anyone else takes offence.
I read the report on the game from the Ibrox Noise site and thought oops Ally is trying tactics.
I was joking chaps!

Nbear ye know I love ye tae bits but we all can't be wrong. ally is and never will be a manager. this is not anti ally, ally bashing or anything else it is a simple fact. not because it's our first friendly but because we have been watching this dross for the last 2 years. sorry mate get yer blinkers aff. xx

@kfraser

You will find the game on YouTube if you search for 'Ventura County Fusion v Rangers', then you can see for yourself. The markings on the pitch are appalling; you can barely see the football lines. However, the state of the pitch would be a poor excuse as they were exactly the same for the American team. That would be like blaming the wind.
