Stuart McCall makes an excellent point, that escapes the rest of Scottish football, and that was that our demotion to the lower tiers was the best thing that happened to the teams that played there. Many were also saved from the brink and they have the audacity to say we would not be missed.
The verification will be the benefits in the coffers of premier league clubs, this season.

I made this point a few times during the journey. Our support and the extra tv money virtually wiped out the debt of most teams on the way up. The championship teams got 2 years of full houses.

Do you have the financial figures to back this up or is it mere heresay?

I hope they got their share of the tv money as we only got £10k as our share went to the spl as they seen it as compensation considering when we were in the lower leagues we were the biggest draw 890k tuned in to watch us in on third tier game where celtic v Aberdeen pulled in 200k so I hope the spl did not punish our opposition in those games when they were hammering us but I wouldn't put it past them.

That'll be why McCall did his bit and kept you there a while longer.

To quote Inigo Montoya:

"You keep using the word 'demoted'. I do no not think it means what you think it means. "

sure there would have been clubs in the lower divisions who appreciated the extra cash, but their saviour`s come on. these guys are used to running their club`s on tight budget`s.

M`coll, when talking up Rangers liquidation, seems to have missed the big picture, the £165M trail of debt they washed their hands off.

money that could have been spent in our schools and hospitals. so for the little winners there were plenty big losers.

Let's be realistic here. It was a fabricated tax bill which made us uninvestable and ultimately sent us down in the first place.

Cleared of any wrong doing twice I think before HMRC got some joy with the third attempt, which I'm sure still hasn't been resolved after all these years.

Anyone on here who is honest will agree that our club was used as a guinea pig for HMRC to chase EPL clubs for cash, only it didn't go as they hoped.

Tpp. The Oxford English definition of demotion is " to be reduced to a lower rank or position, normally as a punishment. " Seems a fair assessment to me!
Bb, your first sentence explains exactly why we saved their existence. They run on a tight budget and look for a plum, home cup tie or a player sale to help them survive for several years. During our time in the lower divisions, WE guaranteed that would happen.
As far as your quoted debt figure is concerned, get a grip because it is obvious your green tinted specs need cleaning or, more likely, disinfected.

That guy Montoya always was a bit of an arse.

Yeah Billy that's what it's definition is- shame it's not what happened. Go look up the word "new" or the phrase "start from the bottom", emphasis on "start". Whilst there, it'll do you no harm at all to look up "self-deception".

Well tpp, time for you to re-name yourself. Keeping the same initials you could quite easily have more apt names!
As far as new is concerned, I think pot and kettle come to mind, so just have a little look at history books, closer to home.

Billy, if you have something to say, say it. Own it.
