Right Bears just a thought on how to go about tryin to get a half decent team team together AND it's a gamble but options are limited, I think if we slimed down the squad by getting rid of 7-8 players and using the wages to bring in 3-4 quality players. Off the too of my head out goes Gilks, I like the guy but guv the place to one if our own up and coming again this idea has got gamble written all over it and Gilks is probably on 5-7k a week. Next Tavs, Kiernan Senderos is away end if season anyways and he must be in anything between 12-15k which is an utter disgrace Hill may be away too, out goes Halliday who I really like but if needs be the he's out prob need to get shot of O'halloran OR Forrester? And its time fir Wags to GO sorry but the lad ain't doing it. Maybe time to cut our losses with Nico dunno and if Aird is never getting a game he goes.
Anyways some positions will need to be covered with Academy lads AND we need to give the new boy Bates a chance at CH at times. So the wages we save with these exits should be used to bring in quality players who will want decent wages these players WILL need to be got on free's which CAN be done just because we get them fir nothing dies NOT mean their worth nothing or their cr*p! . Anyways Bears dunno what u think and I know its nit ideal AND the players mentioned are not written in stone but the idea behind trying to build a team that isn't just going to compete domestically but can get into Europe as we MUST get into the group stges of the Europa. You all prob get what I'm trying to get across SO do u think its a road we should go down?

Trimming the squad would save us some cash on wages front but if we are to compete and have European ties to play then we need a squad to cope! In that scenario I fear for some of our players meeting the demands of playing euro ties midweek then league games at weekends the likes of windass seem to struggle to string 3/ 4 games together without taking a knock then hill and millers age would come into play! Your point about selling 7/ 8 and bringing in 3-4 makes some sense as it saves us a whack of cash but by replacing gilks with kelly and senderos with bates and bringing burt into pool then that also saves a few grand a week!

If these players are on the money your claim, and currently no one is screaming to buy them, or claiming that they are great stars of the future, why on earth would they want to leave, and risk earning less elsewhere.

I think your stuck with many of these so called duds, unless you settle their contracts, if you settle, then where is your projected savings coming from.

We have a similar problem across the city, certain duds like effan Ambrose won't go till he gets a new club that meets his demands.

And what happens if we have as many injuries as we've had this year?

We have had injuries this year cammoo but even at that there are a few players who haven't featured much we've not been down to bare bones

I doubt very much that squad would be in Europe long

That squad would struggle to finish second!

What squad stewie25? I've tated we need to replace several players with better quality! But what we don't neeed is to bring in 7/ 8 ali crawfords or andrew considine level guys i'd much rather bring in 4/ 5 players of a higher calibre and bulk out the squad by using burt and bates if we had to

Surely you don't think were going out to sign a whole new squad of players? We are pratted we have to save every penny we can

Get rid of Waggy, Senderos (leaving anyway), Gilks, Kranjcar, O'hal, Forrester and Halliday.

Bring in Winnall, Burt, Kelly, Bailey Wright, Cyrus Christie and David Davis.

Winnall looks like a goal scorer and Sheffield Wednesday are looking at buying him for just 500k, Burt and Kelly wouldn't cost a thing and look really promising. Bailey Wright is unhappy with lack of game time so we could snatch him on a free. Cyrus Christie is a right back, but if we are going for this 3-5-2 formation instead, he would provide more cover than Tav. David Davis would be better than Halliday all day long, and Forrester is a headless chicken.

This isn't Fifa we are playing where all those changes would just slot right in, get a grip!

Well, looks like Winnall is going to Sheffield Wednesday for 500k, absolute bargain.

Sounds more like a game of cards to me with all those changes. Drop 8 players in the hope that we get 6 better ones that can bed in quickly.

More Lala land opinions!

Focus your energy on supporting the club, getting behind the team, manager and board rather than pretending to know more about football than the professionals.

If I've misread your qualifications, then I apologise Mr Ferguson

andy I totally disagree with everything u just said . we need decent back ups for our players so wouldn't get rid of gilks and tav is still one I think will be worth good money in a year or two flying rb is easy to sell.
forrester is one our best well most talented players anyways. so letting him go is a mistake i'd give him more game time out on the right.

but if McKay doesn't go through the middle its a waste

James, while I agree that we need decent backups, more importsnt, we need a couple of players, especially in holding midfield and defence that go straight into the starting eleven. We have failed misreadly to sign a quality holding midfield player / defensive midfield player and that is the only reason that Halliday fills that role.

there is two players I can think of that would only cost us a wage, Bailey Wright and David Davis, two very good players that top half of the table championship sides want. Preston I believe capped their players wages not to long ago, and birmingham I believe have reduced wages drastically. These are 2 players that would easily improve our defence and cost us nothing except their wage.
