Been a Rangers fan for longer than 5 minutes so I know how much we as a fan base are so quick to have a go at our own players when things aren't going to well.

But this season has to be one of the most important in the club's history and its amazing to see how little we value some of our players and how easily we tear into them before a meaningful domestic ball is even kicked.

The euro catastrophe aside coupled with some awful performances from players who downed tools towards the end of last season, should have absolutely no bearing on what happens from 6th August onwards.

Fully optimistic going into this season. The spine of the team has been improved ten fold. Young promising defender alongside an experienced European Championship winning defender. Young Scottish midfielder alongside an experienced top level Scottish midfielder. Strong dominant Forward in Herrera alongside a great young prospect in Morelos.

What isn't there to be optimistic about?

I share your optimism, but I've said it for years. "We are the most fickle fans in Europe"

We demand success . and rightly so, but when things go a bit pear shaped, we are too quick to criticise the Manager, individual players or the board.

Looking forward to the start of the new season with a renewed optimism. step up n play. 🇬🇧

The quality throughout the team is incredible compared to last season.

Daniel Candeias has been quite great on the right and is probably the only outright winger we've had in a few years.

Pair him with the likely signing of Jamie Walker, it's looking like we have very strong options out wide. Compared to none at the end of last season.

Apart from Full Back we've improved every outfield position, which is sensational.

Pedro gets criticised when he deserves it, he'll certainly get praised when he deserves it.

I've been guilty of this scepticism in the past but you're right there is scope for optimism - they and the shaggers have struggled in Europe as well as we have and there are beginnings of a good - not great - team
By the way good ol'Bazza scored for the bread mans oddball team tonight in the Championship for what looks a win

I totally agree. We have been making steps each season in the right direction and now are at a point that we could maybe challenge. 3rd in the league this season is a failure considering the investment. Celtic played on a crest of confidence last season thinking they will win every game and all opponents thought they would win, its a cycle top teams can get in and stay in.

Someone must break that for celtic for a few games at a time and we must get into that groove to even have a chance to win the league. Right now a I don't know how the season will unfold but be assured we have a Rangers side on the pitch, Granted not the best ever but we can and should compete with the best the SPl can offer.

PS - Cardoso and Morelos will be at the end of the season be worth 10 m each.

A very good post by the op! We need to be more optimistic! We do have reason to be! Our team has been I measurably improved (credit to the board! )

I hope we don't expect too much from young morales this season as I think he needs time! He'll be a good player for us but he's young and very raw! Herrera will be our main striker this season and he worries me a bit as he looks a bit lazy for my liking
