Hallo Hallo fellow bears I have followed this site for years and always like to read up on my fellow supporters thoughts and rumours on players we are linked with and signing. I am however getting fed up with the messing about we are doing over the no9 position at our great club. IMO this is not a position we can afford to take a gamble on. To win 56. We need a proven prolific goal scorer who can play in the SPL. We have made mistakes not signing players from our own League in recent years. Lewis Ferguson, Josh Doug, Arran Hickey to name a few. I really hope we don’t make the same mistake again. Just go to Hearts and sign Shankland please Mr Beale ??????.

Gazgers, what messing about, they have targets they are pursuing, the window only opened on 14th. If Shankland is the limit of your ambition for our 9 then thank God your not the manager.

Bit harsh Jim on a new poster. I agree with you but plenty on here think differently.

Not being harsh onewalter, I don't think the club are messing about, rather they get it right. Always happy to see new posters but I'm really not a shankland fan. There's much better on our radar.

Jfm shankland is a viable shout as, quite simply, we need scottish players. With wright likely to move on we are left with souttar mccrorie and Jack for Europe when we can have 17 non HG players.

Especially with mclaughlin not classing as HG.

Gazgers231,who would be your preferred striker we sign mate out of interest?.

Jfm2704 what I am saying is the no9 position is not a position we can take a gamble on. It is where we have failed in recent years and the fact our right back is our top scorer last year is an embarrassment. Goals win games and Shankland is a prolific finisher in the Spl. He scored 24 last year for a poor Hearts side. The service and chances he would get at Rangers would easily add 10+ to that. He is a Rangers lad and knows what our club is all about. As for my lack of ambition. We missed the boat with Lewis Ferguson and others players that have came through and proven themselves in the SPL. I heard the same drivel back then about not being good enough and lack of ambition signing players like that but look where our loan deals like Diallo and Ramsey got us. It’s time to look in lads before we look out. We can’t afford to take a gamble on the striker we sign. WATP.

JFM2704 please forgive my lack of ambition in wanting to sign a striker who scored 24 goals for a poor Hearts team last season. The chances we create would easily add 10+ to that target. Who would you rather we sign in this position?

Sorry Gazgers apparently I was harsh, welcome, I really thought we could disagree without getting sent to the naughty step.

Who is a Btr target than Shankland JFM2704?

Thank you. There is no naughty step and of course us supporters will disagree. It is what it is and we take that on the chin. I just see it that in recent years we have failed to look at proven talent in our own league and they have went on to become btr players. Ferguson, Doig, Hickey albeit to name a few. I’m still interested to know who you prefer as a new striker for us. Please share ??.

We’re not a lot of shank goals from pens …welcome gaz but I trust MB.

Ganger it's not as straightforward as that. Yes Shankland scored 24 goals last term but its the fact he plays for hearts that he scored so many (a large portion was also penalties) heats face teams who are open and try to go toe to toe with them whereas at rangers he would be playing against low block packed defences every week. Yes rangers create plenty of chances everywhere but they require intelligent centre forwards wh make runs normal centre forwards don't make. Shanklin is a penalty box striker but I think he lacks that little bit extra required at rangers. A gers no9 needs to be strong, powerfull and most of all his off the ball work needs to be highly intelligent. Yes Shankland is good, but he's good at the level he is in. Nick Clark is very similar, good striker at a certain level, not good enough at gers level I'm afraid. Just mu honest opinion though.

Sorry gazger early to bed early to rise and all of that. I know what you say with scottish players for Europe, that is why we signed Wright who most people want gone and I don't think that is a good enough reason to sign a player. if
Maja is the one I want in.

Should've said I really prefer piroe but as I really don't think we will get him I chose Maja.

I get what you mean, but Celtic may be at the point of selling Kyogo to Tottenham for £30m, plus. They bought him for £4.5m. So, if you get the transfer right this time, that's what's in it for Rangers.

Shankland will never do that for us and so Beale is looking for someone who could. That's the way I see it.

Robbie the fact he plays with Hearts is my exact point. He is a proven goalscorer in our League. To win the title back we need a player that’s going to hit the ground running and take his chances. We have had it throughout the years with Durie, McCoist, Naismith, Boyd. All these players we turned our noses up and said the same thing but they done the job for us scored goals, won matches and won League titles. Players such as Sima on loan and Dessers don’t do it for me. We have failed in this market the past few seasons with players such as Itten, Diallo, Ramsey etc all whilst we let young Scottish talent move abroad. Shankland for me is a no brainer and is certainly an upgrade from Kent, Morelos, Colak

JFM2704 if we are getting the lad Maja on a free I wouldn’t be disappointed but again he needs to hit the ground running.

I don't think shankland is better than Colak so imo not even an option we need better than that.

All about opinions gazgers, if MB signed shankland even though I don't think he's right for us I would of course support him as I do with all of our players.

As will I JFM2704. All about opinions and the boy Piroe I also like however I agree that he is outwith our price range. I guess we will all find out this week or next week who it’s going to be lol WATP.

Hi John27. He scored 24 goals and 11 were penalties. A lot of the time he was playing behind the striker for his link up play. My mates a season ticket holder in Gorgie and admits Hearts are woeful. In a Btr team and with Cantwell and Raskin assisting he would hit 30+ for us. He has scored goals wherever he has went and is also their captain so another positive for having another leader in our team ????.

Shankland scored 30 odd spfl goals last season! That's how you win league titles!

Agreed Jason. I really believe he is what we need and would do a job for us. As you say it’s about doing it in our league and winning league titles. Shankland played 37 games last season too. Fitness and form. This Sima deal on loan does not do it for me and we all know we can’t rely on Roofe.
