Was just reading an article there. When we bought Flo from Chelsea for 12.5 million all them years ago would be equivillant of buying a player for 28 million in todays money. Would be nice operating in that market and not the one we are in now.

That may be the case in general and in leagues such as the EPL, unfortunately though here in Scotland we are pretty much in the ‘land where time stood still’! Where as in most other countries clubs income due to TV money and sponsorship has rocketed, here in Scotland it’s pretty much stayed still, mostly down to horrendous miss management by those in charge of our game such Doncaster. Therefore instead of now being able to spend much more on players like the rest of Europe we in fact probably have less we can spend in general than 20/ 25 years ago.
Even Celtic who are arguably in a much healthier financial position than us still can’t break the bank on players or wages because they know their overall income (outwith regularly champions league money) couldn’t support it.
The game in this country really has been done dirty by total incompetence by those in charge.

We plucked Flo off the Chelsea bench, and he was more effective off our bench. A lot of money for a bit part player. Good goals per game ration, and we recouped around 7mil when we sold him on i recall.

Johnny fox. back then a freddo was 10 pence, its now 25 pence. I'd say your spot on without stats. Freddo and flo stand together.

He wasn't as bad a player as folk make him out to be his goal ratio to appearances for us was decent.

I have always thought that the peanuts sky and league sponsorship give us is a ploy to keep our football down incase we actually do something amazing and take attention away from all, efl.
Imagine if we got tv deal at 250M over 4 seasons and a league sponsor who pays 25M over 4 seasons our game would step a higher level than what is now.
