Yes I do believe Rangers should have offered a little better but i don't see him get anymore than 3k until he has established himself! I was all happy this transfer window when we were brining in players and getting rid of those we don't need, but now I'm getting worried that in the last half of the window we are going to lose some of our best players.
This morning's need got me worried about Alfredo and Tav and it got me thinking. Would people be happy if we sold both of them and made enough money to buy Kent, and then spend 5 million each on a right back and a striker? Do we have the confidence that with that money we would bring in the same level of quality?

I’m not sure, but you’re never sure when you buy new players.
Defoe is not going to give us 30+ goals. Polster is not the right back to replace Tav. However replacing Tav and getting a similar player will cost us closer to 10m or above
So that’s a problem, his goals, delivery and style of play costs money, so we should be charging big bucks if we let him go or he wants to go.
If they go it must be now not in 2 weeks and it must be for at least 30m combined.

I honestly think it’s just paper talk to be honest. Both are good players and will no doubt have great seasons up here but I don’t think either are EPL class or are worth the money we expect. What’s good to see is neither player appear to be pushing for the transfer (I’m surprised by Morelos as I’d have expected him to throw his toys out the pram) . I honestly think both will still be at Rangers until at least Christmas. Going but to your point, I don’t think we should over pay for Kent, he’s a very good player but not worth double figures, from my point of view, I wouldn’t be happy with us over paying for Kent regardless of the other two positions.

Both bring way more than Kent to the team. We definitely couldn't bring the same level of quality straight away, it's finding people who are raw or rough around the edges and making them that quality.
Could lose Alfie and cope I think, as who better for someone to learn from than defoe - Tav though would be a big big loss.

Would tend to agree that the price for Kent is to high for what he is worth, but I do feel that after a debut season he would kick on in Scotland and could be one of the best players in the league.
Totally agree in that this window should have been about adding qualityy to an already decent squad but I feel if Tav and Morelos go, it will feel more like another rebuilding job.
I've think for us to win the league we need the majority of the squad to not be in their first season in Scotland. That's the key yo consistency and grinding out results.

A small question to you macbow. Who does as good a job at right back at rangers that tav does mate? I'll answer it while i'm waiting on your response, absolutely nobody. No current right back at ibrox comes anywhere near james tavernier, who without a doubt is easily the best right back in scottish football, easily pal! So macbow sorry for being blunt, but if you or anyone else for that matter thinks we have anyone that can do anywhere near as good a job as tav does then you're very much deluded and void of playing position knowledge.

Seeing quite a lot of comments about us using the loan market and us "not developing our youth". At the end of the day when it comes down to picking your team, you want the best 11 players you can get, if that's made up of a couple of loan players, I couldn't care less as long as we get the 3 points. I'm sure derby had a good few loan players this season, doubt they will be complaining. I really don't see the problem with sending younger players who are not ready out on loan, help them become ready and in the meantime use loan signings to fill the gap.
Would also just say, I don't think there's much of a difference between the players we are being linked with and those the manky mob are. perhaps a sign of how much we have closed the gap, or how much their tightness will be their downfall.

Really don't get the negativity around the 352. If you look at all the goals Motherwell scored yesterday, 2 were from set plays and 1 from a freak piece of bad luck. It's the set play defending that should be looked at, not the formation.
The problem in open play for me was that Tav got beat for pace and allowed crosses into the box far more than he should have, being the winger in a 352 doesn't release you of your defending duties which yesterday Tav seemed to think it did. and don't get me started on his defending of the 2 set plays.
I did however think that having more players further up the park allowed us to create a lot more chances, barasic fits that role on the left perfectly: attacks well going forward and still does his job defensively.
Why Gerrard is making that substitution so late in the game whilst we are about to take a corner is beyond me. All for the sake of showing sentiment to Wallace, who I don't personally believe many fans are fussed about whether he plays again. No point in saying let's get the shock out of our system before next week, like Gerrard has said the league is won and lost in all the games outside the old firm and that yesterday is two cheap unnecessary points dropped in the league.
Let's shake ourselves off and do the job on Thursday! This could be a make or break week for us!

Totally agree with that post 4EverBlue, we conceded 9 corners yesterday and had few scrambles inside our box also which could have resulted in goals, as a defensive unit we were poor and don’t remember a clear cut chance for us in the 2nd half.

Yeah I think sometimes when we have a lead we can be guilty of sitting too deep and inviting pressure, like the last 10 minutes of yesterday. if we just keep hoofing the ball up rather than looking to play out and keep the ball, we just keep on inviting attacks.
I'll eat my own words when I say I thought halliday was brilliant yesterday, and taking both him and barasic off were mistakes in my opinion.

So because none of our players are world class, we now cannot say they have been brilliant? never knew they were being benchmarked against guys worth 100s of millions.
I thought halliday was great at breaking up play yesterday and his passing was pretty decent too. You were watching a completely different game if you thought he was any more of a passenger than Arfield who was subbed on for him in the 68th minute.
Another guy who just loves to stick the boot into halliday for no reason. What does the guy need to do just to get pass marks with some folk.

Arthur wrong to single out halliday as a passenger he was as effective as anyone in that mid field. every team needs a halliday he'd play in goals if asked think its OTT the slaughtering he gets on here. i'm first to admit i had a morelos blindspot but he's proved me wrong and I've admitted it on numerous occasions think you're the same with halliday he could be man of match in OF and some on here still wouldn't acknowledge it.

Halliday broke up the play and made vital interceptions throughout the match including a clearance from under the crossbar, which came about because he was stuck to his man like glue. He didn't put a foot wrong, and even after picking up a knock still put in 4 or 5 challanges. You are a complete Arse. Stop using Halliday as a scapegoat.

Arfield normally plays as one of the 2 behind the striker but since Jack's injury he has been further back as part of the middle 3, and to be honest he has been at his best there.

Has started the season well, still has time to grow, has flourished for Finland and has played well in the europa league. I think Davis is past it to be honest, tail end of last season he kept losing the ball and hasn't looked great in preseason either. I also wouldn't rule out bids coming in for Kamara.

So we would have Defoe, kamberi, cosgrove, dykes, shankland all looking for a start in what is most likely going to be a 433 formation with one striker? 🤣 if we sell morelos, bring in kamberi on the cheap and spend 5-10m on a quality striker. Give us options that way and 150k (ish) for kamberi is a bargain given he looked better than morelos for tail end of season.

Wouldnt say he could walk into any club right now but for sure bottom half of the prem at least. He got the rangers job with no managerial experience at all based purely on his name. Plus imo he has performed better than Lampard and he's done alright.
