Was at the game yesterday and was very encouraged with what I seen. 442 was a suprise and good to see Pedro has it in him to change formation when required.

Liked the look of alves cordoso at the back together it just feels right already even though it was a friendly. Jack looks as if he's been playing in that midfield for years. He had one loose pass but team managed to recover from it. Candias really surprised me and I think he had a great game. Played off the shoulder of defenders and looks as if he has strength and speed to cause problems.

Herrera looks cumbersome with ball at his feet but could be a handful in the air and big asset with corners and set pieces which we have lacked for years. Dorrans had a very average game with some loose touches but you can see he helps the shape of the midfield and will be solid I'm sure.

Alfredo looks busy and strong and I'm excited to see what he can offer this season. Time will tell with him. I would take walker coming in in a heartbeat and ideally another right back even if hodson and tav stay. I would also get maybe a forward on loan. I would try and move waghorn windass kiernan forrester and dodoo on if we can. Keep wee holt as back up.

In summary Pedro seems to have done well in the market at first glance. Dalcio seems to be the only headless chicken of the bunch and he is only on loan.

Going in the right direction for sure.

I was at game to and completely agree with your appraisal. Only point of concern for me is we have an awful lot of central midfield players. While I thought Niko was excellent yesterday I'm not sure he could play on the left week in week out. Then you add the two that played there yesterday and add Pena and rossieter . I'm not sure how we fit all our best players into a starting 11

2.) 23 Jul 2017 14:07:19
Okay he's had injuries to recover from but Kranjcar's only 32 and is it really so hard to imagine a professional player not managing to play 90 minutes a week? Not asking that much. The guy's a player of real class and vision. Walker and McLean would be great additions and add a dimension we need in being future potential Scottish internationals. Miller, 5 years Nico's senior, shouldn't be in the first 11, bench yes but we need a better striker if we hope to challenge Celtic. I know he's everyone's favourite and gets what wearing the badge is all about but let's face reality.

3.) 23 Jul 2017 14:39:15
What about Pena? Thoughts from anyone who seen him play yet.

4.) 23 Jul 2017 15:12:21
Pena came on yesterday mols. wi roughly 15 to go. didn't do much but once he gets up to speed hopefully he will do well. We spent a lot of dough on him so I guess he's gona figure heavily in Pedro's plans.

Actually enjoying the fact a bulk of the support have their reservations before the season has kicked off.

Keeps people's expectations realistic unlike early last season when some clowns thought we were going to win the league after just being promoted.

The loaf said that he aimed to be competitive last year which was so far off the mark but I do expect us to up our level of performance this year and be competitive. We have a more physical side this year which once it finds its feet should be in a better place to dig in when we are up against it in crucial away games etc.

i think a lot is riding on the two Mexicans settling in as these are pedros main two gambles I believe due to fees paid. If they flop Pedro may find himself under pressure as they really need to perform going by the look of the rest of the squad. People may feel dorrans is a gamble but I think he will have no bother settling at ibrox and he is a solid pro.

I still worry about our lack of fire power I do need to admit but it's early days. I will get a good look at the team tomoz at ibrox.

Well said Coplandcafu. With regards up front, i'm hoping if Morelos is actually played as a main striker and he is given decent service he should find the net, just going by his record in Finland.

I honestly don't think it's the strikers that's the problem at Rangers. we see so much of the ball and create so little, case and point; Josh Windass was the player who created most assists last season. I mean how many games did he guy even start? He was out injured constantly also. The stat was something like an assist every 209 mins. There's your problem right there. Let's hope the new midfielders can create for the strikers!

Pedro simply needs to keep his key signings on the park this year which going by the fees paid will be cordoso Pena Herrera and dorrans. Alves will also be key due to his qualities and leadership. Bulk of these guys haven't kicked a ball for us yet and the media have had a field day getting stuck in to us. Why is that story of us losing an unders game to hearts even in the media? Non event but media getting stuck in as per.

Yes that result in Europe was terrible but we are not the first team to get caught out with early fixtures in the season.

I will go to all home games next year and I am confident we will have a good season. Especially now we are not wasting our energies on Europe. Let's face it we need to sort things out domestically before we are interested in putting a run together in Europe. Crawl before we walk.

Don't read the papers and form your own opinions.

Excellent post coplandcafu.

I thought we would get to 3rd qualifying round maybe the 4th at a push so it's not a total disaster just embarrassing to lose to who we did.
Playing on Thursdays then league games on Sunday's would be extremely difficult for us.
The biggest issue is forming a new schedule.
Totally agree with statement regarding losing a friendly against Tynecastle when it's the under 20s, the opposition were managed by Lee Walace that's more of a story!
As for slating the new squad, The gaffa has been left with 30% of the squad he is actively selling starting the games and another 30% including his 1st choice defender and midfielders having not featured at all.
The new guys who played have had 45 mins in total, 2x15 mins, 30 and 45 mins and 2x 45 mins other than Cardoso who has had to play alongside our 4th choice CH.
I like the profile of the majority of our new signings and in a months time a few more we want shot of will be gone, the new guys will be more settled and it's game on.

Copland Cafu

Getting caught out early isn't any sort of excuse or explanation. We should have beaten that part time Luxembourg pub side no matter when the game was played. Also even a few rounds in Europe would have helped financially which might have lead to 1 or 2 more signings but that has gone. Judging by your post we shouldn't have even bothered trying to qualify for Europe yet when we did everyone on here was saying what an opportunity it was to make some extra money. Losing in the first round is a total disaster

4.) 09 Jul 2017 10:28:59
We are out of Europe so get over it. Look toward the bread and butter for us which is in my opinion the challange for winning the league. Wait till the end of the season and then bleat like a sheep if need be. I am getting fed up listening to fans or is it supporters moaning aout the manager, his signings, the team, the media, other supporters, other clubs when half of the new signings haven't even kicked a ball for us yet. Channel your anger, frustrations and Follow Follow for f's sake

5.) 09 Jul 2017 10:47:09
Floyder- what gives rangers the right to assume they are now ahead of Aberdeen and are Celtic main challengers. based on what? Sounds so familiar to everything coming out of your club, total disrespect to Aberdeen and it's going to be another season of egg on your face

6.) 09 Jul 2017 13:00:14
91bhoy, I was voicing my opinion with supporters of my club. It's my opinion, which I am entitled to thanks to those who fought for my right and yours to do so. I do not state we are ahead. read the post as it's written and not what you want it to say. "The challange for winning the league" I did not say we would win it, and as for disrespect for other clubs? . I sure have for their hatred of our club. geez their titles, kick them out of football. As a wise man once said . Let he without SIN cast the first stone.

7.) 09 Jul 2017 13:21:30
Bhoy. Because we are Rangers, the most successful club in the world. We expect to win every game we play because that's in our DNA and will always be. Even with Pedro in charge surely we have the right to expect to win the title. We will never do the same as your lot did through the 9 in a row years and settle meekly for 4th and even 5th. That must be in your DNA

McKay hyndman and holt had cracking games tonight. The defending letting us down as per usual but only difference this time was we were shooting on sight tonight. Something that we just weren't doing under warbs. 24 shots with 11 on target is far more like what we expect at ibrox. When you have a defence as bad as ours we need to out score teams because we pretty much start every game a goal down. Barrie McKay is frightening at times with that first touch and ability to drift into the spaces over the park. Refreshing to see.

Mckay for me is frustrating he has so much potential, but disappears in games and doesn't track runners. Sits in soaces where nobody is. I might be being a bit critical but if he gavee 100% the full game then he would be a real talent.

2.) 02 Mar 2017 10:00:23
I love the fact we were getting crosses into the box much earlier as well

3.) 02 Mar 2017 14:06:33
got t say i disagree a lot of our games we had 20+ shots and not too many on target as was warbs words after most bad results we where nearly always the better side but couldn't defend and couldn't score so we got beat

Who at Rangers actually went on record stating that we would be aiming to win the league this year was it king? Hear that Chris sutton is saying we have egg on our face because we are so far behind. The only thing I can remember getting said by our manager was we aim to be competitive.

I like every other rangers fan doesn't know how to operate being second to Celtic but don't be kidded Brendon Rodgers had a much easier task taking over that Celtic team than warbs had taking over our side. He only needed to spend on a couple of key areas of the park whereas warbs had to build a brand new side. I don't understand how people don't grasp this. Errors have been made this year in regards to signings and mixed with injuries it has left us with limited technical ability on the park. The gaffer has addressed this short term by bringing in the two on loan which also got met by Critism by some.

His persistence to play tav and Halliday is really the only real thing that infuriates me week in week out as we have better options elsewhere in our squad.

Chris Sutton loves having a go at rangers after hearts away he said we had no chance finishing top3 . going too take time don't like finish second to them buts it's no bad 1st season back. get closer to challenging next year

2.) 30 Jan 2017 22:47:29
Being 22 points behind after 22 games is not being competitive

3.) 30 Jan 2017 23:18:30
Shoot me down if you want. But Celtic have just broken their record for unbeaten run. If you looked at their form when we were not in the league and compared it to this season they wouldn't be sitting with such a large gap at the top. Their manager has come in and worked wonders.

This is our first season back, we have dropped points we shouldn't have if we were more clinical.

Some players haven't made the step up to top 6 team level, some signings haven't worked, some haven't hit the ground running, some have been hampered with injury. But it must be very difficult to bring in over 20 players in two seasons and expect everything to work out perfectly.

Maybe we are loaning players in January to keep space for our summer signings. Warbs even said last year that he doesn't like the January window as its over inflated.

The press are saying all this crap about King not trusting Warbs but I don't really buy it. I think they are assuming because we are not wasting our money in January that something is going on.

I still think warbs needs more time. I think genuinely if Barton, Krajcar and Rossiter had gone completely to plan we would have had a really decent mf. I think we have to remember that's the whole spine of the team gone or out most of the season.

We have been improving and with the new boys in mf on loan hopefully we can kick on a bit.

4.) 31 Jan 2017 08:23:21
Well Chris would know all about having Egg on his face. Look theirs the helicopter.

5.) 31 Jan 2017 09:49:44
The one bit I will disagree with you about Camoo is "Their manager has come in and worked wonders. " If I'm being very honest he has Celtic doing exactly what they should be doing, their Budget and income dwarves that all everyone elses. The players they have are far superior to every other clubs players. Someone will jump on and say yeah what about our budget, very true our budget is big, but like you said Camoo we have brought in so many players and been rather unlucky with injury and what not.

6.) 31 Jan 2017 12:05:39
Our club was a shambles before warburton came in junior sides were run better than us he had to build the club back up from the ground . no way were we going to challenge celtic in our 1st season back in SPL . more importantly i would rather we consentrate on getting rid of ashley before worrying about that mob

7.) 31 Jan 2017 16:26:16
we had to bring in loads of players and as much as Brenda has done a really good job over there I think warbs has done a great job bringing in the squad we have and more injurys than bad signings which Is unlucky

8.) 01 Feb 2017 01:37:55
I believe MW is quoted pre season saying second is nothing we are expecting to challenge Celtic for the league.

Lee Wallace deserves enormous credit for his commitment to our club but he has had a very poor start to the season. He looks slower this season. I'm not sure if he is just starting to show his age a little or that he is up against better players this year but he has been one of the most disappointing players this season. He may need a few games rest.
