One of my mates was telling me that he's heard rangers are on the verge of terminating Bartons contract tommoro, anyone else heard this?

Forfarger

1.) 18 sep 2016 12:50:03
not sure if they're able to tear up bartons contract without paying him a large sum of money which rangers are short of.

2.) 18 Sep 2016 14:58:28
He'll be quite happy to be released i think. His fitness and shape has been poor and he thought he could stroll through games up here. if we release him he'll be able to sign for a lower table EPL or decent Championship side. for a whole lot more than he is on now.

3.) 18 Sep 2016 15:00:23
Depends if what happened the other day could be classed as gross misconduct or not but with war button not saying what exactly happened it would probably take a kings ransom to get rid with a non disclosure clause and even harder to get Barton to keep to it.

4.) 18 Sep 2016 16:15:10
Barton would have a very good case for constructive dismissal. I know employment law and I'm sorry but the club has behaved even worse than he has- allowing or deliberately leaking the story. Only a small group of people knew about this (all rangers employees) .

Clear agenda by the club to scapegoat Barton and hope he would agree to contract being mutually terminated- Barton will never agree to that after being publicly vilified.

This is coming from a fan that never wanted him in first place. I'm disgusted by the blame it all on Barton nonsense- the whole team has been poor and that is the managers responsibility.

5.) 18 Sep 2016 17:30:29
Not heard anything yet and I don't want to judge as I don't no what happened
But if he's has questioned warbs style of play then I think he had a right to bring it up.

6.) 18 Sep 2016 16:41:06
His contract will be terminated due to gross misconduct he will be sacked with no money having to be paid.

7.) 18 Sep 2016 17:52:44
And then he will sue us for unfair dismissal.

Answering back isn't gross misconduct, neither is abusive language- it's a disciplinary offence but it would be very hard to issue more than a formal warning.

In terms of his media interviews- unless he was told not to it isn't a disciplinary offence.

Sorry it's much much harder to sack people than most people realise- I struggled to sack an employee who had stolen brazenly. Got there in end but it was a painful drawn out process.

And like I said above Barton has already got a very good case for constructive dismissal due to leaking of an internal confidential matter- imagine you had a row with your boss (as many do), they overreact and send you home then you find everything is public knowledge- what would you do?

8.) 18 Sep 2016 20:42:16
Had MW not said in the past that Bartons outputs are just "tongue in cheek "; that might come back and bite us. Also how many times have we seen players going at it at training bust ups, but also put down as players want to win so badly. Martin is trouble but is also clever and whatever happens he has all the good cards to play. if he get sacked he will mouth off to anyone and everyone; if he gets a payoff and confidentiality clause that will cost us money we don't have. If he goes without any clause to stay silent; he will expose any nonsense he wants to put out there and sue me and be damned. Not good position for us to be in.

9.) 18 Sep 2016 21:05:09
Honest ger. I agree that dismissing someone is not easy - and neither it should be. But I don't accept your rational, even if your assumptions are correct.

It depends on what he's done, it depends what his contracts states, it depends on club rules, it depends on any club disciplinary policy.

I don't think Rangers have done anything wrong. They've not comment publicly, they've sent him home (I'm assuming with pay, hence a suspension) and they will deal with him this week (the hearing) .

I'm pretty sure that through breach of contract, bringing the club into disrepute and an unauthorised interview they've got enough to get rid of him.

And I think they have to get rid of him or Warburton has no credibility.

10.) 19 Sep 2016 09:39:32
BruisedBear, as a manager who has just completed some courses on disciplinary procedures you'd be amazed how difficult it is to actually get rid of someone. It normally takes months going through the correct procedures. I don't see anything that warrants an outright sacking without Barton suing for unfair dismissal. Even if he was face to face with Warburton and screaming obscenities at his team mates. Almost every manager and pundit, has publicly stated these sort of bust ups happen in football.

11.) 19 Sep 2016 10:33:07
He had breached a confidentiality contract signed by going on talk sport, if he went face to face with warburton the he has to go, the gaffer can't afford to have anyone regardless of who it is think he can question the manager, Wallace n Walter wouldn't have accepted that!

12.) 19 Sep 2016 10:36:34
I may be wide of the mark here as I'm no employment law expert but I thought given the nature of footballers contracts that it doesn't fall under the standard rules of employment law? Put it this way, you cannot under any circumstance "trade" a standard employee with transfer fees, however you can in football as they are essentially treated as assets on their balance sheets as available for sale assets. The contracts that govern footballers are unique to that industry and unless you know employment law specific to sports players, I'm not convinced they fall under the standard rules. It may very well be easier to punt barton that some believe and I recall Fran Sandaza's case of dismissal which didn't last very long.

13.) 19 Sep 2016 10:58:47
Have to agree with honestger and coop here! rangers look to have no grounds for gross misconduct in this instance, not only would Barton have the rest of his contract paid out as a lump sum he would also have grounds for defamation of character and unfair dismissal.

From the alleged statements I think Halliday comes across like a spoilt brat who threw the toys out of the pram because someone had the audacity to not blow smoke up their bums. their performance in the old firm was not acceptable and was confounded on Saturday yet again. I'm glad someone in the dressing room (Barton) has a clear sense of what is expected and is willing to share his disgust with the others. If there was no reaction I would have been more worried.

Just my tuppence worth.

14.) 19 Sep 2016 10:59:58
Left ibrox 15 mins ago. without comment. which is unlike him.

15.) 19 Sep 2016 11:03:10
Suspended for 3 wks.

31 Aug 2016 08:04:40
Have we accepted a bid for waggy then?

Forfarger

1.) 31 Aug 2016 08:17:41
Hope not.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 08:38:50
Me neither, don't want to see him leave.

3.) 31 Aug 2016 08:50:52
Neither do i.

4.) 31 Aug 2016 08:51:57
The only source I can find for Rangers accepting a bid is on here so I highly doubt it.

That said there is still 15 hours left in the window. I would think accepting a bid this late would be league suicide though as we will struggle for a replacement.

5.) 31 Aug 2016 09:18:29
15 hours for warbs to pull the finger out and get a CB in.

6.) 31 Aug 2016 09:28:58
I can't see us selling our top goal scorer at this time. If a bid was accepted (which I doubt) Warburton would be extremely unhappy about it. He's trying tool up to take on Celtic not the opposite. There is probably interest but remember he came from a higher level English team. To go to Bristol would be a step backward. Their all up here having lost their way, to put themselves in the shop window for EPL moves.

7.) 31 Aug 2016 09:54:30
Sensible one seems to think we have at a cut price Ask him Mwahahaha

I hope not, but there were rumours that there were a bid of 3m plus add ons.

8.) 31 Aug 2016 10:01:08
6 people disagreed with my original post! haha. how can you disagree with a question? 😂.

9.) 31 Aug 2016 10:09:56
I'm pretty sure that if Waggy does go (don't think it is likely) then it would only be with MW blessing.

Everything he has done so far has been calm, disciplined and sensible, managing the money that has been made available.

Contrary to many opinions on here, MW knows what he is doing, is aware of financial restrictions and will have a plan to develop the team in a structured way.

No instant fixes without £mmmmm's.

10.) 31 Aug 2016 10:41:05
sorry I love warbs tactics on the pitch when we play nice football, but he has made a rookie mistake for me one that will mean we will find it hard to get anywhere near celtic and maybe struggle to keep up with the sheep and hearts.

only really poor part of our team last years was defence and the one area we needed real quality.
we get a back up rb and an old man that beside keirnan was left for dust off of boyde who I think is maybe the slowest striker in the league!
any manager should know to build from the back and fix your problem areas first. I don't know what they have been doing on this front, whatever it is its not enough and should anyone be signed they should have been signed before the league started!
this for me is just underestimating our spl . as for barton he needs to get his finger out playing nowhere near what is expected of him.

29 Aug 2016 14:44:59
Senderos? . still having medical? 😂.

Forfarger

1.) 29 Aug 2016 15:25:00
Cant see us going for another DM tbh.

27 Aug 2016 17:05:03
Any news on any CB's? sederos still having a medical? never heard of a 2-3 day medical before, must be some news on whether he passed/ failed.

Forfarger

1.) 27 Aug 2016 17:29:37
Well he's been training with us for a few weeks so for it to take this long the only thing I can thing of is that it may be getting delayed.

If I was warbs I would try to get two in such as senderos and a free agent. I know that would leave us with too many cbs but it's better being safe than sorry in my opinion.

2.) 27 Aug 2016 18:58:02
We have got to calm down a bit guys. We are struggling at moment yes. and I have posted before my concerns regarding out centre back options at moment. no leaders among any of them. we do need pace in that area and a dominant cb. anybody remember jocky bjorklund? Was terrified when the ball came near him but his covering pace was lightning fast. Once all players r back from injury and when barton and krancjar get upto speed we will b better. It's still early days. I doubt we will win league this year but we will get better. the rotten mob think they will steamroller us in 2 weeks. we may just prove them wrong. KEEP THE FAITH.

3.) 28 Aug 2016 20:48:44
The problem is that even with all our players fit other than Wilson we would end up with Kiran and Hill at centre back and that would wreck the rest of the team. No one wants to see the filth destroy us but playing Hill is tantamount to giving the game.

4.) 28 Aug 2016 22:35:02
Only 4 days to try and get a centre back in, surely it can't be senderos now he's been having a medical since Thursday night and still not signed, this is another strange 1.

27 Aug 2016 07:06:07
Any concrete news on senderos? any idea if his medical went ok? after that goal against us last night we need a CB in ASAP.

Forfarger

1.) 27 Aug 2016 07:50:57
Dont think senderos wid have made much difference to that goal last nite mate. agree the defence didn't cover themselves in glory but Barton was the main fault for the goal. his attempt at trying to catch their midfield runner was diabolical.

2.) 27 Aug 2016 08:31:31
Sorry but Hill was at fault. A total joke of a player. Slower than a week in jail and also likely to give away a barrowload of penalties this season if we have the misfortune of seeing him anywhere near the first team. Problem is that we need two centre backs although on last night's performance that is not all we need!
We don't have a leader on the park and unless things change we only have one player that can open up a defence and he can't play for 90 minutes.
Miller should have played his last game as well, a centre forward that has lost all of his pace and plays more as a midfield player is not what we need as a striker.

Five days to bring in two top class centre backs and a striker, it's not going to happen.

This is going to be an embarrassing season for us!

3.) 27 Aug 2016 09:00:04
Well that's the league done already we'll be lucky to get top 6 at this rate.

4.) 27 Aug 2016 09:37:44
Agree geomac, unless players seriously pull the finger out the only thing we will finish top of is the bottom 6 after the split.

5.) 27 Aug 2016 10:25:38
Clint hill was at fault for the goal? why because he tried to recover from Kiernans mistake. If Kiernan went with Boyd instead of ball watching we wouldn't have conceded. Hill made mistakes but you can't blame him for that goal.

How can you guys sit here and say we will be lucky to finish top 6 when most of our attacking players are injured. Holt one of our most important players last season, Waghorn we just click when he's on the pitch, Windass looks like a good alternative to Holt.

We Will Improve.

6.) 27 Aug 2016 11:27:53
Lol, aye the league is done after two wins and two draws?!

Played poor last night and there are serious defending issues from the midfield to the back four but I don't think the league is done yet.

7.) 27 Aug 2016 11:37:16
Callam, the problem is not in midfield or to a lesser extent in attack. It is in defence and the fact that we don't have a proper Captain. Yes Wallace stayed with the Club and he deserves recognition for that but he is not a leader. He isn't a Souness, a Butcher, a Gough or an Amoruso and he never will be.

Our Centre backs are a waste of space. Yes Kiernan was at fault for the goal. No different than any other week. The guy is a disaster zone, but so was Hill, he is way to slow, he should have been back to cover and he should have been in a position to put in a tackle. When Boyd can outpace our defence you know we have problems. What is more, we really should have lost a penalty when Hill put his hands up and turned his back on the ball. He is a joke. He will never make a Rangers Centre Back in a million years and if he and Kiernan are to be our central defence against Celtic we will be slaughtered! It really is time that we brought in a couple of proper centre backs. Only problem is that costs money and we seem happier to pay out for forwards that don't even get a game!

8.) 27 Aug 2016 11:38:42
I think we should calm down a bit. we're unbeaten so far. With several new players bedding in. its a long season and its not a sprint. we're playing at a higher level than last season. We're getting a bit hysterical about our lack of quality in defence. what about our attack.19 shots on goal last night.1 goal scored is a poor return and occurs every week. yet all we can talk about is how bad our defence is. we'll improve every week. My biggest disappointment is Joey Barton. he looks slow heavy and unfit. he obviously missed out on a lot of pre season and it shows.

9.) 27 Aug 2016 11:39:15
Calm it guys – let not hit the panic button just yet. We have bought 10/ potentially 11 new players in this window. With the pre-season we had, the team are not going to gel overnight! Yes the defence is lacking confidence, but we are not creating enough chances to win a game. We are lacking a number 9 in the team to exploit the holes between the deep lying midfielders and the strikers. Miller is having to drop deeper to compensate meaning there is no one in the box when we do get forward. When Windass and Holt are fit they should fill that gap and allow for more creativity in the middle of the park. I also reckon We need a leader on the park – Barton will grow into that role, along with Senderos if we sign him. Yes Barton has found it tough moving up, but the pace of the league catches out a lot of good players. His Pitch geography – as MW puts it – should improve as he grows into the season.

Realistically we could be 10 points behind by the end of September. But when this team clicks I think we brilliant!

10.) 27 Aug 2016 11:48:31
I'm not a fan of kiernan as I think his positioning, aerial ability and tackling are all really poor. However the goal last night was not kiernans fault for once. He correctly faced the oncoming attacker as being the nearest defender. Hill should in that scenario track the runner. To be out sprinted by Boyd, sickening stuff!

11.) 27 Aug 2016 12:18:27
Wallace CB, Hodson LB?
Not against that mob as it could be too risky, but Wallace has the height and pace to be our CB, miby worth a try?

12.) 27 Aug 2016 13:42:58
I honestly don't think we will be able to sign a mobile CB before the end of the transfer window.

Any CB with speed mobility and experience would cost far too much money.

Warburton is still trying to find his best 11, and atleast we are still unbeaten at this point. Can't see Barton and rossiter in the same starting 11 tbh. It will be interesting to see how matt crooks is when he is fit.

13.) 27 Aug 2016 14:04:08
There is good reason for our concern. So far we haven't played a decent team. We should have beaten Hamilton at Ibrox with goals to spare and we should have beaten Kilmarnock last night but in both instances we threw away two points. Against Motherwell we were also lucky. let's gauge our success this season against teams like Aberdeen, Celtic and Hearts. The others we should expect to win at a canter with the number of players brought in and the wage bill!

Just a shame that we appear to have signed a donkey to go with the other donkeys at Centreback and we don't have a goalscoring striker.

14.) 27 Aug 2016 14:24:11
TOM, i hear what your saying our defence is a mess simple put but our midfield has been extremely poor. When you look at other teams who play possession football they all have that one player who makes them tick. Busquets Barca, Dembele Tottenham, etc. Of course these teams are well ahead of us in terms of quality they always will be. We miss Holt, We miss Waghorn its that simple.

15.) 27 Aug 2016 18:40:05
I was told by a senior hospital employee four weeks ago that a prospective player (obv he couldn't give a name) had failed a medical. It was before Lescott or Senderos and I have no more info as to who it was but this info such as it is, is 100% reliable, the guy does not care about football at all.

16.) 27 Aug 2016 19:04:54
Negativity of some fans on here is unbelievable, these comments are amazing .

17.) 27 Aug 2016 22:13:52
Sometimes I can't believe the negative stuff I read on here. We haven't lost a match in the SPL since climbing from the bottom tier. We have a lot of fantastic young exciting players mostly bought at a pittance. It's crazy and it's always the same guy. Get a grip of yourself.

To reshape the entire club in this amount of time with playing and non playing staff since taking over has been unbelievable.

Shame on you for this unwarranted criticism of these players who have done so well.

18.) 27 Aug 2016 22:25:36
Tom

Our midfield is missing Holt as he provides the link between midfield and attack and scores a few goals.
Barton and Rossiter are very similar type of players and to be honest we are lacking a bit of pace and tempo at the moment.
Windass when fit should be in the starting 11 and give o halloran a chance wide right.
We still have problems at CB so a signing is a top priority.
Early in the season and plenty scope for improvement.

19.) 28 Aug 2016 00:02:57
Hopefull lineup vs "them"

Fod

Tav, Hill, Wilson, Wallace

Barton, Kranjcar, Forrester

Waghorn, Garner, Mackay

Gilks
Miller
Rossiter
Kiernan
Windass
Dodoo
Holt.

20.) 28 Aug 2016 01:44:35
Hill too slow against their pacey attack I would definitely have (hopefully) new signing in at CV instead.

21.) 28 Aug 2016 11:24:14
There is no way that Hill should ever wear a Rangers jersey again. If he plays against Celtic they will have a field day! We need a new centre back, if we don't sign a quality one and quick then I would risk moving Wallace to centre back or even play the young lad from Raith Rovers but no way would I even have Hill on the bench.

22.) 28 Aug 2016 21:12:12
We need a no nonsense CB. I've said it before and I will say it again. step up and play Mr Bougherra.

02 Jan 2017 18:34:45
I know maybe not the highest level he plays at but Omar bogle is a player we should be after, just seen his 2 goals today, big and physical for his first goal, threw 2 defenders out of his way,2nd goal he out jumped the defence to score a header, he also set up his sides 3rd goal. i'm sure someone mentioned him on her not long ago.

Forfarger

1.) 03 Jan 2017 19:52:38
Unless he's 5ft warburton won't be interested.

16 Dec 2016 12:15:01
Predictions for tonight lads? I've went with 2-0 us and mackay to score first, worth a punt at 25/ 1.

Forfarger

1.) 16 Dec 2016 12:36:13
3-1 Garner first goal scorer. 45/ 1.

2.) 16 Dec 2016 13:10:27
Got 3-1 Garner first scorer at 70/ 1 on Williamhill, where'd you put that on onlyshow?!

3.) 16 Dec 2016 13:34:45
3-1 garner to score a nalty and where did u get those odds onlyshow?

4.) 16 Dec 2016 13:51:18
Cant see us scoring 3 tbh. 1-1 or 2-1 we sneak it.

5.) 16 Dec 2016 16:39:04
3-1 garner at 35s a got hope we are all up.

6.) 16 Dec 2016 17:11:34
I feel that we will get goals to-night, 4 or 5, so let's go for 5-0, and I tip Garner to score at least 2. So before the manky mob make their usual contributions, my glass has not yet been filled.
Our defence are angry because of the criticism, and as such are shaping up.
However, I seen two passes, in particular, on Saturday that showed our progress, and that gives me confidence on a change of approach. In the first half Wilson's 60 yard diagonal that Miller lobbed the goalie, but it went wide, and in the second half, McKay's defence splitting pass that allowed Waghorn to run in on goal, but wasted the chance.
What we need now is CONFIDENCE.

7.) 16 Dec 2016 17:38:43
Garner + 3-1 is 35/ 1 with skybett and 45/ 1 with bet 385 - hills coupon shows 45/ 1 so if you got 70/ 1 fair play and beware of payout rules if you got an inflated price -.

8.) 16 Dec 2016 19:04:19
Sorry to disappoint lads, but we will win 1-0 with the goal coming in the 87th minute. Crystal ball looking a little fuzzy but it looks like Wilson is the scorer.

9.) 16 Dec 2016 19:38:55
Rangers nearly 3/ 1 -1 wae paddypower. Rangers and Norwich both-1 just under 8/ 1 the double a wee tenner on that for me 2nyts. Gutted I canny make tonight mrs work night out a wee nite wae the 2 weans n a munchy box n some buds! Geez awee win lads!

10.) 17 Dec 2016 13:05:50
Forfarger, i also bet mckay to score first and rangers to win 2-0 against hamilton mate! You should have shopped around, i got 45/1 for that scorecast in betfred! I stuck 3quid on it. A nice wee lift of 138quid if it pulls. Betfred usually are the best prices for the scorecasts mate!

26 Oct 2016 21:48:08
For the many people on here wanting hodson to play instead of tav, please take heads out of arses now, hodson is woeful, tav is a far better player by a country mile!

Forfarger

25 Sep 2016 14:55:12
I don't care what anyone says here, I've been as positive as I can be recently however it tell you for a fact right now, we will struggle to make top 6 this year.

Forfarger

1.) 25 Sep 2016 15:00:26
Warburton worried me from day one. Plan A, PLan B P! sh. He is way out of his depth. Will most likely say the same things, we need to learn from this and work harder!

I can accept the gulf in Celtic, NOT The rest of the league!

Just leave Warburton, King you better fix it and fix it FAST!

20 Sep 2016 14:57:15
Think it will be a tough game tonight, in thinking so much about Rangers just lately I didn't even realise that QOS have started the season well and are top of the championship. heres hoping we get the result we need to kick start our season.

Forfarger

1.) 20 Sep 2016 15:19:39
They are on good form but they are not at SPL level and we are big favourites! A convincing performance is required but hopefully we batter them for a confidence boost!

2.) 20 Sep 2016 15:29:50
Think some team is due a thumping off us would rather it was the sheep but if it's tonite I'll take it.

3.) 20 Sep 2016 16:02:35
Unfortunately if we lose tonight that will give more shouts for the gaffer to get sacked. we need time to gel as a team, also good to hear the gaffer say he has zero respect for Sutton, the same Sutton who failed big time as a manager, everyone can't wait to slag off gers as usual, instead how about giving him time to do his job.

4.) 20 Sep 2016 16:46:30
He will get the time if he proves he is worth giving it too. He needs to stop with the 'I know better' attitude. He needs to start working on a plan 'B' that is not do plan 'A' better. that's absolute bullsh*t. I happen to agree that we did perform better against Ross C than any other team this season, but that's not what you come out and say after Celtic hammering and a draw! He needs to start learning the game that is NOT on the field if he wants to stay a Rangers manager. Last year will count for nothing if he continues this approach.

5.) 20 Sep 2016 16:48:02
Totally agree delboy.

6.) 20 Sep 2016 16:44:31
Ironic that your on slagging someone off because he has an opinion that differs to yours pal, or is it only rangers fans that can say your manager is out of his depth, like majority of you on here have been saying for weeks.

7.) 20 Sep 2016 17:35:33
I regularly get slaughtered too by some on here for saying the manager is out his depth so it's not only Rangers fans that can say that and get away with it.

8.) 20 Sep 2016 17:25:18
RFCinfinity

'They are on good form but they are not at SPL level'

That makes both teams tonight not fit for SPL! lol HH.

9.) 20 Sep 2016 17:58:20
I've never understood that argument - as it would mean non managers (IE fans) know even less and thus invalidate their opinions. Or is it only successful managers that can comment on football management?

By that rationale, Joey Barton could say to Warbs that he knows nothing as he never played the game. And so on.

I agree leven, I think I remember 3 times in the 1st half the ball was put across the face of goal and not only did we not have anyone there to knock it into the net we had nobody even in the 6 yard box, people slate Mackey for not getting by people and crossing the ball,3 times 1st half it happened and nobody was there!
