I agree we need 3 players (cb, am, cf) to have full cover, but when you look at our best first 11 as the team takes shape, I think it's that no10 that we need in the first team.
Someone who takes the ball with composure and has that bit of class to open the door.
The other positions need some depth. Be great if we can get better, but need a level of cover.

Todays performance was not great at all. Docherty had a poor game and bates for me is a squad player. i'd much rather have alves and martin at the back and on todays performance holt is a far better passer than docherty. But i do believe docherty will get better over the next year or so.

Total nonsense docherty broke up play numerous times but had a couple of missed placed passes. He’s the future of Rangers. Pitch played a big part in poor defending took players a while to adjust

Bates isn’t better than Alves although Alves has struggled. As for Docherty, he actually done ok yesterday and will only get better the more he plays. Jamie Barjonas isn’t at his level.

The boy Bates is a young McLeish and together with McCorie can develop and form a formidable central defensive partnership for years to come. Alves is a lovely guy but is way past his best and at this stage in his career does not have the physicality or motivation to perform for us consistently at a high level. Great though that he is passing on advice to all of the young centre backs including Cordoso.
Great to see development and breakthrough if Bates this season. Did you see how disappointed he was when missed header and goal scoring opportunity. Priceless! Just watch how he converts and celebrates the next chafe he gets.

I can see why the defence is getting criticism, letting three in yesterday, but the man I worry about at the back is Fod. He seems to get beaten by long range low shots consistently, and hardly ever comes off his line. A big lad like him should be commanding his penalty area. Maybe that's the way they coach them now, or has he not got the confidence to try and collect crosses. Other games he has shown some brilliant shot stopping ability at close range, but he does let himself down with crosses into the box.

Bates performances this season have been better than Alves's where before the injury so I would say he keeps his spot. Docherty loads of potential and great break up play.

My own opinion is if we do go for all players that we have brought in on loan then what we need is 3 quality players. We need 3 x 4 million pound players. Look at the team smith had. Cuellar davis and jelavic. 3 quality players which make all the difference and in my opinion these are the 3 areas we must target. No point going out getting a load of mediocre players again.
Start going to a back 3 and playing 352. Murphy should play behind the strikers. Hopefully the sale of morelos and windass (if these teams still want them for money quoted) this would surely finance this. i'd also look to sell tav as i'm sure for 1 or 2 million there is far better out there to play as a wing back.

he is a very very good footballer and head and shoulders above the rest but sadly his discipline will cost him his future. it can't carry on like that. his 2nd goal was magnificent the other night but the other side of his game is ridiculous.

I'm merley saying we will find it very difficult to attract any calibre of international who is playing for a decent country. and to answer your question did I Google it then no I am on holiday in morroco now and asked a local guy at a hotel. He said very good player and is wanted by all top European sides. we are no longer a side who can attract even semi decent internationals. just not going to happen.
