Ross Wilson from Southampton is not joining Rangers. Will be announced on Wednesday that he is not coming. There is no manager coming in before the end of the season. Murty will take the team till then. Changes will be made in the summer but not till June.

Seems to go against what's been said in the press recently. Obviously we don't know who they will be (dof and manager) but I do believe we will appoint both soon.

2.) 28 Feb 2017 08:14:20
How can the board announce wilson not comming, when they haven't said a thing officialy or un officialy about him. if true they would appoint a dof, and say they were number 1 target. they aren't going to say, sorry tried to get wilson he said no, so heres our 2nd target?

3.) 28 Feb 2017 08:58:52
it may not be Wilson but i'm sure they will announce a new director of football this week.

4.) 28 Feb 2017 12:29:53
Rangers have not even approached Wilson. First they would need permission to speak to him and his boss has stated that nobody has asked for that permission.

5.) 28 Feb 2017 13:29:04
It will be announced that he is NOT coming. that doesn't make a whole lot of sense mate?

6.) 28 Feb 2017 13:59:28
Johnnymac, are you a glasgow rangers board member under the disguised name of johnnymac? Only the rangers directors know what's going on as to regards of who and when they're going to appoint a DOF and a manager/ head coach! Nobody knows a thing mate! Even the media and rangers men within the media, haven't got a clue what's happening, so with all due respect mate, you don't know what's happening either! I stand to be corrected tomorrow if your scoops are correct! But i can assure you i'm not holding my breath on it!

7.) 28 Feb 2017 14:03:12
Why would we make an announcement about someone not coming. Wisen up

8.) 28 Feb 2017 14:41:55
Why do people think Rangers will make money if they get into Europe? Other Scottish teams have done 3 qualifying rounds in the Europa league and took a hit on the process after transport and accommodation costs. Even in the group stages the money available is not that much. Only the champions league would bring in decent revenue.

9.) 28 Feb 2017 14:47:47
I for one don't like the idea of a director of football.
i think it would take away any chances of us ever getting top quality in to manage the team.

10.) 28 Feb 2017 15:11:26
He's just made it all up that's why

11.) 28 Feb 2017 16:41:51
All I am telling you is that he is remaining at Southampton.

12.) 28 Feb 2017 17:09:38
Is anyone expecting a statement confirming that Ranieri is not going to be the new rangers manager?

Rumours - a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.

That does not mean "a complete load of made up tosh"

14.) 28 Feb 2017 21:48:19
Supercooper let me assure you that no manager is arriving at ibrox this season. It does not matter what is being said in the papers Murty is in charge till june. Wait and see.

Anyone who thinks we do not need a director of football are underestimating the size of the rebuilding job at the club

Currently we have no manager, no assistant manager, no scouting team and a relatively poor first team set of players.

To bring a manager in now and expect him to solve all the problems with the first team, set up a scouting network and get a new coaching team in place before next season all on his own is delusion. If we left this till the summer it would be near on impossible.

We need a fresh start, a director of football can be the focal point to put the club in a direction where changing the manager won't be a total rebuild every few years.

It works well on the continent and for clubs like Southampton, Spurs, West Brom and Man City (albeit City have endless funds) .

I like the sounds of Ross Wilson as DOF but he will only come if he has cash to spend on players and to change the scouting and coaching setup. He would show real ambition and I would be confident in whatever manager he chose.

However, one thing is for sure, the calibre of candidate we appoint will reflect the financial position we are currently in.

16.) 01 Mar 2017 17:54:08
Johnnymac, I tend to agree with you where appointing our new manager is concerned! If the permanent manager we're after is currently in a job, then of course its more than likely, we'll have to wait for him, until the end of the season! For example like a garry monk etc! But if that is the case and the guy the board want, can't or won't come just now, then i really do think an alex mcleish, billy davies etc, will be looked at on an interim basis, for the rest of this season mate! I honestly don't know if ross wilson will become our DOF, but then again only the directors will know this for defo! My own 1st choice for the DOF role, is paul mitchell anyway, who's currently serving his notice with spurs!

I am a Celtic supporter. Very sorry to hear about the bus crash and the guy who lost his life. Brings any football game into perspective so whilst we can be at the wind up most of the time, which we all are, I would like to pass my condolences onto the family and hope that there are no more deaths as a result of this crash. So to the Bear who passed away sleep well son, today was never ment to end like this.

My condolences to the family and friends of the gentleman who so very sadly lost his life in the rangers supporters bus crash today, nobody deserves to go to a football game and never return home! So the DOF is supposed to be in control of appointing the new manager or at least input into the new manager? Pedro already appointed. So no change here then. DOF to be appointed before the new manager. Why? If manager already selected tell me the point?

What have Rangers got to lose? Bring him in. No matter who comes in it will take 3 seasons to get close to Celtic. If it does not work out and a new man comes in it may take 5 seasons. Who knows but right at this moment Rangers are never going to challenge Celtic so it may take a left field appointment to change things. Just for the record Wilson is not coming.

Supercooper, these things happen. Steve Clarke is best manager in SPL. Don’t think he would have taken JD on when paying half his wages which is £65k a week from Rangers. After seeing what JD contributed do you think £65k per week could have been better spent. Damn right it could.

It starts already. What do you expect of this manager. Players are poor and you expect him to come in wave a magic wand and everything is great? Get real.

WTF! Sounds like a winner? Is that the criteria of success? 3 games, 1 win, 2 draws. May sound like a winner but results talk.

I would be amazed if Pedro makes it. In my opinion he won't get sufficient funds to start a revolution so it has to be evolution and that takes time. He had 2 youngsters in for the Killie game. Now if they have a stinker everyone is going to be on Pedros case. Next issue is if Rangers get stuffed against Aberdeen on Sunday then Celtic at Hampden then there is more pressure. He does not know Scottish football or the pressure that is coming his way unless he wins every week. Souness is correct and fans expect too much.

Toral is away at end of season so why does it matter? From seeing that game Rangers need a new team. Only Fordingham comes away with any credit. Rather than brining in 11 free transfers Pedro needs 5 or 6 half decent players. Will need to get rid of 5 or 6 there now but who is going to buy them?

So thinking its only about getting to the end if this season and it will be all right then dream on. This is a long term problem. King may take a punt in order to get european football income but that is the only chance of seeing any quality at ibrox soon.
