There is no logic on us paying big money on McBurnie when we can get him on a pre-contract agreement in January.

I would rather secure Solanke or even try to get one of Liverpool's other strikers on a 12 month loan and then bring in McBurnie or another striker that could be available next summer.

Halliday in particular has shown that he is not capable of playing at this level and for me has been a major disappointment. Holt has always been full of running, has worked hard and is still young enough to develop although all of that said, he is most likely not at a level we need going forward.

Holt in particular should have no difficulty finding a new club, most likely in the English Championship or 1st Division, and who knows, Halliday might shine if played further forward.

A lot depends on what is on offer in terms of transfer fee and whether there is a cash alternative to the Cash + Skirtl suggestion. For example if we were offered £6m / £7m cash then I would be tempted to accept and then use the funds to buy a young English striker. I like Morelos but the question is whether his heart will be in it next season. I don't believe that Skirtl is worth what it would cost us to have him for two seasons and would much rather we signed the boy from Brighton that has a potential sell on value for us.

Armstrong would be a perfect signing

last season we simply didn't have enough players of a decent quality and it showed when we had players injured. While we need to sign three or four quality players, having guys like Solanke form Liverpool on loan will be a good thing as will having our own youngsters like Middleton in the match day squad. We simply need to replace the mediocrity that we had last season where there wasn't a game changer on the bench.

Hartson has never got over the fact that we turned him down and he ended up with them. As for Tom Boyd, he is a total irrelevance!

We shouldn't be holding on to both Fotheringham and Alnwick. Personally I would look to cash in on Foderingham. He won't want to sit on the bench and he is no where near the quality of McGregor.

Getting rid of Halliday and Holt might be easier said than done. Mulumbu would be a good call but perhaps Gerrard has his eyes set on better options.

Sad to see Kelly leaving but understandable. I would certainly have preferred to see him fill the backup role. McCrorie will be on loan for a year and when he returns he could have challenged Kelly for the back up role.

McBurnie has only one year left on his contract so a lot depends on the price. I wouldn't go anywhere near the £4m that I keep hearing. I would rather wait until January and sign him on a pre contract agreement for the following season.
