HITC reporting we are interested in Joe Garner 28yr old who plays for Preston North End. Used to be at Watford with Hodson apparently so that is where the tedious link has come from. usual ex watford noise. Wigna have scouted him and he is apparently rated at 1mill.

1.) 25 Jul 2016 10:22:09
Want a better striker than Joe garner sake man.

2.) 25 Jul 2016 11:10:26
Joe garner would be a sensation up here. Probably out of our price range though.

3.) 25 Jul 2016 12:36:13
Whoever the gaffer signs that will do me, because he certainly knows a player.

4.) 25 Jul 2016 17:56:55
joe garner was at nottingham forest for a few seasons and didn't really do well but he did do well at preston in league 1,to be fair to him always worked hard and gets stuck in, could be worth a punt for the right money.

5.) 25 Jul 2016 18:46:47
6 goals in 41 games last season.

So a refresh on some possible targets and their sources:

Jordan Rossiter- Looks like this is picking up steam!
Danny Graham - a lot of paper talk, but lots of clubs in for him
Paulus Arajuuri - Saw this on the Glasgow Rangers FC FB page. Giant Finnish CB, 27yrs old and plays for Lech Poznan. never heard of him myself
Matthew Knox - I expect this one to be wrapped up now they are confirmed as relegated
Ben Pringle - Seems to have gone quiet?

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 09 May 2016 11:43:26
Arajuuri would be great, had a fantastic last season for Lech.

2.) 09 May 2016 12:29:35
Does anyone know what's happening with Daniel Bentley the Southend keeper?

3.) 09 May 2016 08:13:10

So it seems that we will be having a £5 million transfer kitty for next season! According to the daily mail

goo.gl/FZU6fE

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 20 Apr 2016 19:01:12
They're wrong. The manager's budget, as I posted here last week, will increase by £4.8m but that will include transfer fees, wages and agent fees. Four players at £10k a week and half of that's away, plus signing on money and agent's cuts and there's precious little left for transfer fees. The only other income will be the wages saved on those leaving, which could be between £30-35k a week. As I said before, there are a lot of juicy Bosmans out there and I'm certain Warbs will find the cream.

2.) 20 Apr 2016 20:07:15
Was going to say the same as wee-ecky. certain members in the press like to exagerate so the fans will then turn when 'promised' funds/ players etc aren't met.

3.) 20 Apr 2016 21:34:42
Teddy that would be a good kitty, considering what mw done with 400 grand,

4.) 23 Apr 2016 15:58:39
What did he do with £400k? That money didn't include wages, signing on fees, agents fees etc. His total playing budget right now, including staff etc, is in excess of £11m. He's only getting another £4.8m added to that to attract platers for the SPL and, hopefully, Europe. It really isn't a good kitty at all, but at least we have the right man to use it wisely. To put it into perspective, just one £2m player would account for all of that additional budget when you add on wages and other fees.

20 Apr 2016 09:43:39
Sorry Posted a link to the mail mail article about the 5mill transfer kitty and it also mentions that we are after 25yr old Barnsley captain Conor Hourihane. Truth be told I have never heard of the lad.

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 20 Apr 2016 13:35:36
I doubt Conor will be joining Rangers. He doesn't like our club very much.

2.) 21 Apr 2016 00:58:39
Just saw his "Rangers scum" tweets. Can't see this one happening folks.

12 Jan 2016 08:37:11
On STV today that the Aberdeen are interested in taking Cammy Bell on loan. Looks like we have rejected and probably (Although It didn't mentioned it so I am speculating) we are looking for a permanent deal.

Having seen all the rumours on here about the 20 EPL players we will get because Stevie G will bring them up with him, i just wanted to have a look at our own pool of talent and see what youths may come through next year.
Ryan Hardie/ Liam Burt/ Jamie Barjonas/ Aidan Wilson/ Serge Atakayi/ Glenn Middleton/ Myles Beerman.
All of these players have been touted to break through for a while and some have made a good impression, especially Barjonas. My concern is that quite a few of them have gone to the HK 7s tournament, so wouldn't be getting much of a break. Thoughts people?

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 16 May 2018 06:48:43
Every one of them should be giving a chance at preseason, I wasn’t sold on Beerman but let’s see what he’s like two years older.

2.) 16 May 2018 07:27:13
heard good things about middleton

any time i saw barjonas he looked strong and composed on the ball with a good engine to get box to box

we have to give some of these lads a run to see if any cld make it especially given our finances

hope SG gives youth a chance as if rather a hardie burt or barjonas in the team over herrera pena any day

3.) 16 May 2018 07:42:00
There is no point in having a youth system if the youngster are never going to be given a chance. There is an old saying, 'if you are good enough you are old enough'. I think I first heard that about Denis Law and later George Best. McCoist had the chance to build a new squad with youngsters when we were put into the lowest tier but decided saving his own skin was more important so he signed duds. I've been a fan of Hardie for some time now and don't understand why he hasn't been given a chance. So I'm all for the kids being blooded, perhaps in the League Cup initially.

4.) 16 May 2018 08:23:35
Doiger, to be fair to McCoist the talent coming through at the time was not good enough, you must agree🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

5.) 16 May 2018 09:52:16
Which ones of Mccoists youths would you have picked doiger and where are they now?

6.) 16 May 2018 10:19:36
Gasparotto, Hegarty, MacLeod, Crawford, Murdoch, Kyle Hutton, Aird, Hemmings, Walsh, McAusland, Telfer, Kal Naismith, Hardie

7.) 16 May 2018 10:22:31
And how many of the experienced players are still with the club and where are they now?

I watched big loud mouth Boyd win more headers and run further in one game than he did in a full season for us a couple of weeks ago.

Ally had an opportunity to build a fit young squad that would come up the leagues together. But he choose another route and it clearly didn’t work. No one is saying he should have played the under 18s but his signing policy was wrong with no future outlook.

8.) 16 May 2018 11:28:32
Doiger all playing at a pretty low level

9.) 16 May 2018 11:46:25
Well we'll never know will we joby17?

Comparative overview of the fixtures vs the Sheep:
Kilmarnock v Aberdeen
Rangers v Hearts

Aberdeen v Hearts
Celtic v Rangers

Rangers v Kilmarnock
Aberdeen v Hibernian

Aberdeen v Rangers

Celtic v Aberdeen
Hibernian v Rangers

We definitely have the tougher fixture list and it genuinely could come down to last 2 games. Points are definitely going to be lost in the first few weeks. the cup game will seriously dictate how we perform in the next few weeks. Honest confession= i'm worried, we haven't been performing at all well and the only positives i can see that may work for us is that we have near enough a fully fit squad now. Midfield is still a big concern though.

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 12 Apr 2018 09:10:47
I agree - with the teams left in top 6 and the 'uncertain' nature of our performances one week to the next - it wouldn't really have mattered who and where we played them, although I agree the last 2 games could be the difference between 2nd and 4th!

2.) 12 Apr 2018 09:44:50
There’s no difference really guys as we all have to play each other and our home form has been abysmal.

3.) 12 Apr 2018 11:38:10
2nd is last

change of mentality needed

if not first then irrelevant

4.) 12 Apr 2018 12:01:39
The form of most of the top 6 aren't that much better than us plus we all have to play each other we can get 2nd not as hard as some are making out

5.) 12 Apr 2018 13:37:00
I say 12 points out them games only the other mod to beat us in the split.

6.) 12 Apr 2018 13:55:40
No one remembers the team that finishes 2nd or the runner up.

22 Mar 2018 12:41:31
Lot's of people slating Murty at the moment, personally i would like him to be our manager as i honestly rate him. not only that, but he hasn't has the full squad to work with and i honestly believe that Jack/ Dorrans/ Wallace and McCrorie will be hugely influential to us. He needs more competition in key areas such as Wide midfielders and a creative midfielder, i think Dorrans would fit that once he is in, as Windass is just too inconsistent. We have a potentially VERY good manager on our hands who has been thrown in to the deep end of managing one of the most successful clubs in the world with extraordinary expectations. I think he deserves the time and our loyalty.

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 22 Mar 2018 13:45:59
Potentially a very good manager? We don’t have the time to wait and see if he is, his record isn’t good enough so for me it’s a no

2.) 22 Mar 2018 15:43:11
I Don’t think he is being slated just think more and more people don’t think he is up to the job and should go back to the u20s. He is a good guy and has done ok however if we are to challenge Celtic we need someone with more experience

3.) 22 Mar 2018 19:30:56
Teddy agree with you that Murty has done OK but we need a tried and trusted man for the position and to be honest do we really trust our board to pick that man?
After the appointment of Pedro no one was made accountable and no one from the board explained how he had any qualifications for the job? It was a disgraceful appointment and put as backwards! 🇬🇧🇬🇧

4.) 22 Mar 2018 21:57:32
I'm still waiting on a explanation from the board as to why Pedro was appointed. I trusted that there was good reason for it at the time such as foreign investment and he was their preferred man. But no we've had nothing.

5.) 22 Mar 2018 23:55:34
Mikeger, that's in the past, not long ago right enough, but we need to move on .

6.) 23 Mar 2018 07:53:38
I honestly don't have one shred of doubt that graeme murty should remain our permanent manager, at least into the start of next season,
on a 12 month rolling contract! Maybe its just me, but i honestly don't see too much of a gamble having murty remain our manager, at least for the start of next season to see how he goes! With a few more transfer windows with murty and allen, going by the january window, i can only see positive signs! Murty will gain his experience and become more tactically aware, within the rangers manager's job imo anyway! Would be a mistake in my eyes overlooking murty, for the manager's job! Our loss would undoubtedly be, some other football club's gain! Murty will go on to become a very good manager! Let him evolve with us! I honestly don't wear, ie. quotes being said like, "murty's not a big enough name", "murty's inexperienced", "murty's makes mistakes tactically", etc! Murty is perfect working under a DOF, he knows our football club and the way its set out to function, from top to bottom, he's a very good coach and has players WANTING to play for him, senior and youths! He'll only gain the experience with being in the job! Its honestly a "no brainer" for me to at the very least, give murty the start of next season, in the job! We could honestly regret it big time, if we don't! Murty will only get better and better and that's my honest assessment of the guy!

7.) 23 Mar 2018 08:57:53
Didn't see much signs the players want to play for him in the last game! We signed decent players in January but we're still losing far too many games. Think everyone knows coops views on murty but there's a good few folk on here that feel just as strongly that we need a better quality of manager

8.) 23 Mar 2018 09:50:16
Of course blueberry, everyone has their opinion and are perfectly entitled to mate! We've all got our preferences and without doubt, i'll give my total backing to anyone who gets the rangers manager's job! I've been supporting and following rangers everywhere, for over 40 years now, and always have backed my club, boy and man! The players have certainly responded to murty big time, since he got the job until the end of the season! The Kilmarnock game that blueberry correctly mentions, where our players did seem very flat and lethargic, can happen after an old firm defeat hangover! I've seen this sort of thing happen many times after us losing an old firm game, with better rangers managers than graeme murty and better rangers players than our current players!

9.) 23 Mar 2018 13:08:51
once again, the demand is for instant success.
The opportunity was there when the club went to the bottom tier.
Play youth and build-up both playing and business to a sound footing. But no, Ally wanted (and probably under pressure by the board) right back into top league. Answer? Spend more than necessary to do this.
All through the rise up the leagues, same thing. Throw money for instant success.
No planning for future and now we come to today. Tried the money thing (limited in comparison to the CL cash Celtic have had available) and a few numpties, including the manager.
I would give Murty the nod NOW so that he can plan for next season and beyond.
It might be painful for a while but look at the number of teams who have stuck by one man and I think Murty has the potential if given the backing. Just my tuppenceworth anyway.

10.) 23 Mar 2018 14:12:00
As much as I think murty is a decent enough bloke. I've seen nothing in our performances, especially at ibrox to suggest murty has the ability or potential to be a successful manager. I HOPE we win cup and finish 2nd but I've got my doubts to be honest

@Ed001 - About BeingSports. Yes I certainly am! Have you come back to Dubai then? I've had to move to the capital again for work.

TeddyoftheSouth

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, back in Dubai. Much better than Spain!}

1.) 27 Jul 2017 21:34:24
I prefer Abu Dhabi to Dubai personally :)

24 Jul 2017 10:13:02
I know a lot of people said that the 442 set up worked, but I just don't believe that will be pedro's go to. With the amount of Midfielders he's brought in I would guess he will stick with 4-2-3-1 using either 2 wingers (Probably Candeias with Miller/ Dalcio or Waggi) close to a 4-3-3 or having 3 attack minded midfielders (Candeias/ Pena Kranj/ Dorrans? ) with Jack and Rossiter behind them. Personally i'd prefer the latter with Kranj central. personally I prefer the idea of 3 x CAM's in comparison to wingers, as I can't stand watching useless balls being bombed in to the box to the 1 player we have there. Maybe a 4-4-1-1 with a CAM sitting deep?

TeddyoftheSouth

1.) 24 Jul 2017 13:35:51
The wingers really worry me tbh. not bn overly impressed by any of them but i know its early days

2.) 24 Jul 2017 15:20:57
Did you go to or watch the game on Saturday? Candeias was one of the best players on the park. Also put in some shift, ran himself into the ground. Jamie Walker on the other side and il be much more confident.

3.) 25 Jul 2017 08:22:55
Hey bear mode- honestly wish I could but I live and work in the UAE! I did watch it on rangers TV when it was working. Had a lot of disagrees so I assume everyone expects us to play 4-4-2 then? Having seen the feedback from most posters it looks like candeias looked very good. I just don't thin Pedro will go with 4-4-2 when he bought more midfielders and only 2wingers

{Ed001's Note - bet you are glad Bein Sports is back aren't you Teddy?}

Agreed. I like that they are building him to be flexible in that position, it seems to be the norm now with Mascherano (no idea how to spell him name) setting the trend, and Dier of Spurs being a good example of how it can help a player grow in both positions. But for me CB is where he belongs. Plus i can't stand watching Alves and Martins. I can't be sure but i think he has had a handball or penalty shout in almost every game he has played in!

Didn't the redbull situation surface last year? I swear that strip with their logo was posted on here last year or in the summer. The Ajer link is genuine seemingly. It was re-posted by BBC sport today in their gossip column and was also BVB buzz.

As Windass looks like he will miss the next game, I honestly think he will risk it and slap Cummings up there with him and have Docherty/ Dorrans in the middle of the park again. I'd honestly prefer to see a more balanced team with maybe McCrorie and Docherty central with Dorrans in front of them. Although i admit i'd prefer to see young McCrorie as CB in replacement of Russell. The mans a penalty case waiting to happen.

I agree although I admit I am at a crossroads as to whether or not I just like the guy or if he is actually good for the club going forward. The way he handles the media is superb and he says all the right things. But I can’t help but think we need a proper manager in. I’ll withhold further judgment as I want to see what he can do when we have the likes of Dorrans back who I think would be hugely influential

Looks like Morelos is banned for the semi's now anyway. I have a horrible suspicion that Murty is going to pick Miller to start up front and not Cummings. Play 3 in midfield. perhaps Halliday/ Dorrans and Docherty?

I can't deny that Europe will be the litmus test to gauge Scottish footballs progress. Quick question on how people would gauge progress for our club?

2nd place finish? Smaller points gap? Win against Celtic in the cup? What will define our season right now?

thanks Supercoop- I follow your posts often and have agreed with a lot you have said so i appreciate your response. For me it's a no brainer. Murty is a likeable guy who has been thrown in the deepend in the middle of a marathon and so far, he has managed to stay afloat. I'd say that is commendable. he needs to add a bit of steal to his management team in my opinion. Good cop, bad cop type methodology. Personal i'd like wee Barry in

I guess you are right. But i don't see them winning vs Motherwell and Hearts away. they will definitely drop points before the split. Hopefully to both! Then they have Motherwell again in the cup so who knows! I can see us getting the 3 points vs Dundee. I have my suspicion that we will still be level on points by the time the league splits. Exciting times! still think we will get it

Doiger - Hughton is proven to be a decent manager, so can't argue with your choice at all. I would say that Wagner would be decent as well. For me the only issue i see with our current coaching staff is Johansson. I just can't figure out what he would bring to the table that wee Barry wouldn't improve on.
