HITC reporting we are interested in Joe Garner 28yr old who plays for Preston North End. Used to be at Watford with Hodson apparently so that is where the tedious link has come from. usual ex watford noise. Wigna have scouted him and he is apparently rated at 1mill.

1.) 25 Jul 2016 10:22:09
Want a better striker than Joe garner sake man.

2.) 25 Jul 2016 11:10:26
Joe garner would be a sensation up here. Probably out of our price range though.

3.) 25 Jul 2016 12:36:13
Whoever the gaffer signs that will do me, because he certainly knows a player.

4.) 25 Jul 2016 17:56:55
joe garner was at nottingham forest for a few seasons and didn't really do well but he did do well at preston in league 1,to be fair to him always worked hard and gets stuck in, could be worth a punt for the right money.

5.) 25 Jul 2016 18:46:47
6 goals in 41 games last season.

09 May 2016 07:27:06
So a refresh on some possible targets and their sources:

Jordan Rossiter- Looks like this is picking up steam!
Danny Graham - a lot of paper talk, but lots of clubs in for him
Paulus Arajuuri - Saw this on the Glasgow Rangers FC FB page. Giant Finnish CB, 27yrs old and plays for Lech Poznan. never heard of him myself
Matthew Knox - I expect this one to be wrapped up now they are confirmed as relegated
Ben Pringle - Seems to have gone quiet?

1.) 09 May 2016 11:43:26
Arajuuri would be great, had a fantastic last season for Lech.

2.) 09 May 2016 12:29:35
Does anyone know what's happening with Daniel Bentley the Southend keeper?

3.) 09 May 2016 08:13:10

20 Apr 2016 09:39:44
So it seems that we will be having a £5 million transfer kitty for next season! According to the daily mail

1.) 20 Apr 2016 19:01:12
They're wrong. The manager's budget, as I posted here last week, will increase by £4.8m but that will include transfer fees, wages and agent fees. Four players at £10k a week and half of that's away, plus signing on money and agent's cuts and there's precious little left for transfer fees. The only other income will be the wages saved on those leaving, which could be between £30-35k a week. As I said before, there are a lot of juicy Bosmans out there and I'm certain Warbs will find the cream.

2.) 20 Apr 2016 20:07:15
Was going to say the same as wee-ecky. certain members in the press like to exagerate so the fans will then turn when 'promised' funds/ players etc aren't met.

3.) 20 Apr 2016 21:34:42
Teddy that would be a good kitty, considering what mw done with 400 grand,

4.) 23 Apr 2016 15:58:39
What did he do with £400k? That money didn't include wages, signing on fees, agents fees etc. His total playing budget right now, including staff etc, is in excess of £11m. He's only getting another £4.8m added to that to attract platers for the SPL and, hopefully, Europe. It really isn't a good kitty at all, but at least we have the right man to use it wisely. To put it into perspective, just one £2m player would account for all of that additional budget when you add on wages and other fees.

20 Apr 2016 09:43:39
Sorry Posted a link to the mail mail article about the 5mill transfer kitty and it also mentions that we are after 25yr old Barnsley captain Conor Hourihane. Truth be told I have never heard of the lad.

1.) 20 Apr 2016 13:35:36
I doubt Conor will be joining Rangers. He doesn't like our club very much.

2.) 21 Apr 2016 00:58:39
Just saw his "Rangers scum" tweets. Can't see this one happening folks.

12 Jan 2016 08:37:11
On STV today that the Aberdeen are interested in taking Cammy Bell on loan. Looks like we have rejected and probably (Although It didn't mentioned it so I am speculating) we are looking for a permanent deal.

1st point - I am disappointed as a fan of this amazing club and a fan of the players that Rob Kiernan has been treated the way he has. I think it is sick that any player past or present be treated with such animosity when all he has given us is his effort and commitment. What message would that send to any player wanting to join us?
2nd Point - You can blame the manager all you like, it isn't his job to put the damn ball in the net!

1.) 09 Feb 2017 10:22:26
The treatment of RK is shocking! he's had some shockers but the big man has tried to do his job to the best of his limited ability its the manager who kept him in the side whe he was low on confidence and the fault lies at his door! Guy isn't rangers class but has imo given his all for us so he should never be threatened by so called supporters

2.) 09 Feb 2017 10:25:30
1st point - you say players shouldn't be treated with animosity

2nd point - you have a go at the players for not scoring enough goals

3.) 09 Feb 2017 10:26:03
Teddy of the south your correct the first point. 2nd point though. He is the manager, he is the one who trains ten every single day, he is the one who selects the style of play, he is the one who picks the team, he is the one
Who can see like all rangers fans world wide that we have nothing in leadership, nothing defense that makes us think we won't concede, no Aggresivness when don't have the ball, too slow at everything we do, lack of creativity final third, so in my opinion it is his fault .

4.) 09 Feb 2017 10:40:17
Maybe the treatment of kiernan, albeit bloody harsh, is built up through continuous dogs dinner performances and warbs arrogance of not listening to the fans, or seeing for himself how poor rob is, it was bad from the fans but i do see their point, but personally i wouldn't do that to any gers player, also, its all down to warbs who he picks and what strategy he uses to put the bloody ball in the net! It is down to warbs, he doesn't even have the sense to realise that when things aren't going to plan, you MUST change the strategy, bottom line, not sit back and cross your toes that we'll get a lucky result, he ain't no manager in my eyes now, i was fooled by our early success last season but to be found out by so many teams, and know it, but still not change, no that isn't how its done

5.) 09 Feb 2017 10:51:03
I think the way Kiernan has reportedly been treated is poor to say the least. I don't know of anyone who deliberately goes out to make mistakes, at any level of football. Unfortunately, some fans because of sentimental reasons, believe they have the right to abuse people as they see fit. Still is only a game, after all.

6.) 09 Feb 2017 11:44:22
Definitely, the fans who gave Kiernan that kind of stick aren't real fans. As much as it's frustrating that he has made a few howlers there no reason to hurl abuse at the guy. At the end of the day he play's for Rangers and until then we should as fans support and encourage the guy.
But part of the blame has to go to the manager. At the end of the day we haven't changed our system this season and it's proven not to work. He doesn't seem to have a plan B which I think every good manager should.
I would keep him until the end of the season and see how we finish from there. I wouldn't say it's been a disaster of a season, a few bad results. But think people need to remember we have just came up so this is mearley a break through season.

7.) 09 Feb 2017 21:56:42
Its his tactics that make the ball stay out the other teams net and always in our net. Daft statement to make teddy. Agree with your point about kiernan.

8.) 09 Feb 2017 22:16:38

Your right it isn't his job to put the ball in the net but it is his job to find someone who can and so far he has failed to do that

19 Jan 2017 11:17:49
Brought in: 20 1st team/ Squad players (excluding loans) for around about 5million GBP (probably not accurate but I have high-balled this figure)

For speculation purposes only:
20 x players on 10k a week (again not accurate but let's use it as an average) would cost the club just under 10million per annum.

Average season ticket costs between 295-315 for adults. let's say that around 28,000season ticket holder fit into that bracket (again not accurate but bear with me here) . 8.4million (300 x 28k)

We have no european football/ no merchandise income and no player sales since Macleod in 2015.

If we were to sell all of these acquired players for an average of 500K, we would make a 50% profit on purchase value.

Youth squad - We stripped away 20+ 20/ 21yr olds in the past 2 years who were signed on professional contract. let's say they earned 250GBP a week (260,000GBP per annum) and replaced them with 16/ 17/ 18year olds who are now playing at a higher level vs much older kids in the U20's league. (Gilmour/ Burt/ McCrories/ jack Thompson/ Rudden and Barjonas are all now U19/ 21 Scotland youths (2/ 3 years above their age grade)

Ok I have gone on a bit here. My entire point is that people are criticizing the management/ the recruitment and the chairman for his signing policy/ recruitment and youth in the team/ not investing in the squad etc. But there is no immediate fix. The strategy when you look at it will become effective if not next season, but the one after. Patience is not easy when you have to watch Dross on the pitch, but you have to work through the short team pain for the long term gain.

1.) 19 Jan 2017 11:48:18
Well I guess that is why the Three Bears and the two Far East guys have given Rangers the soft loans that they put into the club. It would have been nice if King, after all his shouting and his promises of funding for Warburton had followed through with his own investment to improve the players purchased. (There was not much we could do about the dross that was left after the McCoist era) .

That is also why we need to ensure we get into Europe and we will need to use stealth to increase Revenue on Merchandise on the assumption that we cannot either exit or improve on the Sports Direct deal.

If I am correct in my assumptions our deal with Puma comes to an end this year as does our sponsorship with 32 Red. Therefor we should be able to make some money by negotiating better deals with a more quality strip manufacturer and an alternative to 32 Red.

That just leaves the selling of the strips and if I am correct Sports Direct have a souls Agreement for the UK that we have given notice on. I am assuming that they do not have an Agreement for the sale of our Merchandise Worldwide and that being the case why don't we market our Goods with the new manufacturer and the new sponsor through the US, Canada, Europe, (including the Republic of Ireland), and the Channel Islands including sales over the Internet.

I am sure that a number of Companies could secure good deals for postage and packaging, especially if this was all done through a an Irish Subsidiary, for example of a US Company! Is this doable?

2.) 19 Jan 2017 12:23:18
I think your maths is a bit off. The average wage won't be £10,000 and our youth team will not be earning an average of £2,500 a week.

3.) 19 Jan 2017 13:06:13

Your indulging in fantasy football with your figures there. It's interesting you make the point about no player sales since McLeod. Does that not tell you that there is something far wrong that no one seems to want any of our players.

4.) 19 Jan 2017 13:53:33
Maybe the fact this is our first season back in the spl we have struggled to get good players.

5.) 19 Jan 2017 14:21:47

Did you not think Barton and Kranjcar were good players when we signed them?

6.) 19 Jan 2017 15:46:05
Hey spok- I said 250gbp for youth players mate. But not going to argue about my maths being off! (That is why I said average across the team and deliberately high balled what is probably an averahe of between 5-8k a week) not trying to be accurate but was just giving a description of the business model which some of you clearly misses just to focus on the numbers. My point is Warbs is trying to build a brand and moneytize Rangers again and for that he should be given plaudits. TOMUSA - great post mate

7.) 19 Jan 2017 16:29:25
thought we have c42000 season tickets sold

8.) 19 Jan 2017 17:00:09
Hey FD it's an average of 300 for adults (no idea how man kids/ families make up the total value of season tickets so I again, low balled it) but it was merely for indication of the kind of income we get with just 28k season tickets. I hope tha makes sense

9.) 19 Jan 2017 18:41:53
Good post Teddy

10.) 20 Jan 2017 08:15:29
Barton was just off a good season but at 33 he wasn't going to be a star man, kranjcar had barely played in 2 years.

11.) 19 Jan 2017 22:24:51
TOMUSA, our 32Red shirt sponsorship deal runs out at the end of the season, our puma kit manufacturers deal has 1 more year to go after this season (it was a 5 year deal we signed with puma) .

12.) 19 Jan 2017 23:13:57
Don't forget sponsor money, to money and the merchandise that does sell and probably sells well. It's all good saying don't buy it, but if Ashley still wants to sell it then there is obviously a reason why

13.) 20 Jan 2017 11:52:03
I would suggest that Warburton had to take a risk on all the players that he brought in because we just didn't have the financial resources to do any thing else! Initially he had to pretty much bring in an entire team and that was just to win the Championship given the dross that had been accumulated over the previous seasons. It was also clear that there was a significant lack of potential in the youth side that had been savagely destroyed over a number of years.

Having won the Championship and progressed to the SPL he was also well aware that a number of the players that he had brought in for the Championship would simply not be good enough for the Top League so he had to go back into the market, again with no real Investment.

With no European Football he was not going to find it easy to pick up a Dembele on the cheap and many of us were excited when he secured the services of Rossiter. We were encouraged that he had signed Crooks and Windass on pre-contract agreements and we saw Dodoo as someone with potential. Krancjar was also seen as an older head that had ability and although Barton was always going to be a risk we could see the logic provided the guy could do the job that he had done the previous season in England.

For a myriad of reasons it didn't work out as planned, the prime reason being injuries and as a result he was left with players that by his own admission were not players that he deemed good enough for the SPL.

While the jury might be out I personally don't believe that he can be fairly judged against Celtic unless he is given genuine investment for players. That has been talked about a lot by King but has never been forthcoming. let's see what the period from now until the start of next season brings in terms of Investment and players signed on pre-contract Agreements.

15 Dec 2016 08:42:05
Player to leave:
Waggie, Aird (yeh that guy! ) and Senderos. Possible value for all would be less than 2mill. Tavs might go as well.

U20's to come up:
Burt/ Ross McCrorie (Can play RB/ CB and DM) and Sergei Atakayi.

Players in:
Loans - Once CB who can cover DM (similar to ball) and one attacking midfielder (Warbs has stated this himself)
I would place money on him signing another 2 young players with potential on pre-contracts.

1.) 15 Dec 2016 10:28:54
Love your optimism Teddy. Possibly less than 2mill? We would be lucky to get 500k for Waggy and the other 2 are going to be freebies I'm afraid.
I'm hoping Waggy stays but it all depends on him finding his form again and his attitude.
Senderos and Aird should def go.
A loan CB, one mid (I'll say again Mereiles is free) and a winger please.

2.) 15 Dec 2016 11:20:54
Blue Genius - Your probably right about Aird and Senderos. I couldn't care less is waggie goes, he offers nothing and is so predictable having only one foot.

Why do we need a winger? We have Jeffries/ Roberts/ Walsh/ Atakayi and a host of young players who could take up that position for us instead of buying. That's what our youth system is for!

3.) 15 Dec 2016 12:19:14
Because we need players good enough to improve us, you say waggy brings nothing yet want to see young boys who have never played a minute for us replace him. We need a proper winger as good if not better than mackay.

4.) 15 Dec 2016 13:13:38
as far as senderos and aird goes u would be lucky to get 2 lucky bags and a sherbit lolly for them.

5.) 15 Dec 2016 13:13:38
as far as senderos and aird goes u would be lucky to get 2 lucky bags and a sherbit lolly for them.

6.) 15 Dec 2016 13:13:38
as far as senderos and aird goes u would be lucky to get 2 lucky bags and a sherbit lolly for them.

7.) 15 Dec 2016 13:24:45
Aird would command a fee, not much but certainly a couple of hundred or so.

You have to laugh at some of the sh! te on here.

8.) 15 Dec 2016 16:14:11
LargeBill - a joke so good it hadf to be said 3 times!
Teddy - I fear that as much as I would like to see our youth come through we need a winger come goalscorer. As Cee says these boys may not cut it.
If Waggy goes, MOH not banging them in and Miller not going to last forever It's going to be slim pickings going forward if we don't invest in this area.
GDog - The more money we get the happier I will be so I'm not going to argue a stupid point that we both merely hold an opinion on. Let's just wait and see instead of saying anyone is talking Sh1te.

9.) 15 Dec 2016 19:22:44
I was under the impression that Aird was playing well as a RB on the other side of the pond. Why not give him a chance to prove he has improved and can offer something to our team?

10.) 16 Dec 2016 09:44:35
I love sherbit lolly LOL!

11.) 16 Dec 2016 13:52:07
aird is good for back up for Wallace i'd keep him.

id like to see a left footed winger on the left and McKay on the right with two strike partners maybe miller and garner both workhorses and waggy coming on at the famous 60 min mark.

12.) 16 Dec 2016 09:17:09
Would be lucky to get £500k for those 3 let alone nearly £2m.

07 Dec 2016 12:07:10
As we have pretty much no money, but are demanding that the club goes out and buys a goal scoring midfielder or a new defense or a striker that can actually score. I would like to take a moment and point a few small pointers out. Warbs is supposed to be changing the Youth set up. the same youth team that tore apart Hearts 5-2 the other wee. There was one young attacking midfielder who scored from 40yards and a striker who took the match ball home with him. If we are supposed to be living within our means and developing these young wee players, surely it is about time to see wee Liam burt and Ryan Hardie in the starting XI?

1.) 07 Dec 2016 12:55:11
But are they ready for the jump up to the first team? Burt is only 17, you'll see him a lot more next season. Warbs does rate him highly. Hardie on the other hand, well I've never seen enough of him. I'd wait it out and see how he does on the rest of his loan before commenting to much about him.

2.) 07 Dec 2016 14:05:56
Teddyof the south. when did the youths beat hearts 5-2? I can't find it anywhere. i only see the 2-1 victory of two weeks ago.

3.) 07 Dec 2016 14:25:44
Im not 100% convinced being at st mirren is doing anyone any good they're hopeless rather they were with an other side who are winning some games even if it was top half of league one.

4.) 07 Dec 2016 14:28:47
Johnny G they done it on Monday.

5.) 07 Dec 2016 15:18:25
Im sure it was burt that scored it, have a look on twitter sure its on there.

6.) 07 Dec 2016 15:45:39
Hurt scored 2 and hardie got a hat trick, that was after going down 1-0 early on in the match, I think that's them putting a few win together now.

7.) 07 Dec 2016 15:58:41
The youths that are highly regarded train with the first team when they can. Flinging them straight into starting XI would be foolish and would hinder their career more than progress it. They have to develop physically.

8.) 07 Dec 2016 20:35:24
Scotty I do not think putting the youth players in the team would hinder them it is only going to wonders for there development going to teams that are not playing well is going to harm there development
These two Pacific players are more than good enough to be in the team why at rangers does it take us so long to give youth players game time down England the motta seems to be if there good enough it doesn't matter about there age they get put in the teams and other clubs in Scotland do this we are lacking behind on giving youth a chance instead buying players that are not much better than these young lads these young players will end up leaving to further there career.

9.) 07 Dec 2016 22:38:24
You seriously can't compare the kids down south to the ones in Scotland! They are cherry picked from all over Europe. Our kids aren't. Look at the Man City side that just beat Celtic. They are all big strong, physical specimens from all over .
Unfortunately our kids just aren't ready! The ones who are ready or could have been ready all went down south already after being cherry picked. The Celtic "wonder" kid will be at Man City very soon and fingers crossed our lad getting all the attention isn't taken. He has a very good chance but again he is very small and immature in stature. An fully grown adult would hurt him in a challenge. He needs protected.

10.) 07 Dec 2016 22:43:05
I agree. If they are good enough it shouldn't matter what age they are. Give the boys a chance. Get them experience and let's face it, we like all other Scottish clubs are 'selling' clubs. Process should be to get them into the team. Be part of a successful run for the club and then sell them on for a good fee. That's the business model nowadays. At least that's what it should be. Good to hear there's a few decent prospects but would like to hear a bit more reporting on development teams.

11.) 08 Dec 2016 01:05:50
It really has nothing to do with their age, 16, 17, 18, etc and everything to do with their physical and mental development. Some boys are ready quicker than others, but on average (including in England) boys will be more prepared to challenge and to play senior football by about 18 or 19. Burt is only 17 and still physically looks like a kid. Hardie might be pushing after the new year if he keeps doing what he's doing. Ian Durrant and Barry Ferguson, two exceptional talents, were 18 when they broke through, so we need patience with these lads, not pressure put upon them before they're ready.

12.) 08 Dec 2016 12:54:52
are they better than Miller or Rossiter? No. Then why would they make the team?

13.) 08 Dec 2016 13:04:59
Great call Teddy - surely hardie and burt must be due a start.

25 Oct 2016 10:29:34
I'm confused as to why Warbs is being slated here. It isn't his job to create chances and put them in the net! For months loads of you were criticizing Wilson and Kiernan and all of the other CB's we have. But the fact of the matter is it is our attack that is completely toothless/ predictable and unable to compete against a half decent defense. Waggie/ Garner/ McKay have been crap. Miller is probably the only exception I can offer and even he needs 5 chances to score a single goal. Dodoo and O'hall need to be given a chance.

1.) 25 Oct 2016 13:19:31
Why are you confused? Why shouldn't he be slated?

He is the one that picks the players and wasted £1.8 mil on Garner when better was available
He is the one that sticks by certain players when they are hopeless week in and week out.
You state that some are crap and that others are not getting a chance?

So hat is confusing you?

2.) 25 Oct 2016 13:59:37
we have to be realistic as to where we are the now as a club and realise that as long as we keep improving which we where doing until that old firm game then that is progress.

yes he frustrates me at times aswell and I would do things differently but we must stick by him as his task is a thankless one as most rangers fans think we should bu up there with celtic right away.

as long as we keep getting better this season against the other teams in Scotland and finish second then that is a successful first year back.

remember there is a long way to go and if you though we should be where they are at then u are truly dillusional.

3.) 25 Oct 2016 15:24:37
I totally agree James. Let's all calm down and not call for knee jerk reactions.
Yes we have been beaten twice by that lot, yes we were outplayed but we are progressing. They r a fully developed team that have been playing at a higher level than us for 4 years and have invested significantly more than us on their squad.
We have been very unlucky with injuries, Rossiter, Windass, Wilson have hardly kicked a ball for us and from what I've seen of them they would all be guaranteed starters. Niko gets injured just as he looks like he's getting closer to being the player we were all excited about signing in the summer.
Recruitment wasn't right in the summer I'll agree, the 2 players we've paid money for MOH and more significantly Garner have added nothing to the squad and the solid CB we required turned into 2 well past their best old pros and Barton was the gamble that backfired.
Patience is what's required lads, I still have faith in MW, there will always be bumps in the road but we are Glasgow Rangers.

4.) 25 Oct 2016 16:07:43
it's hard to score when your striker is further back than your midfielders half the game.

5.) 25 Oct 2016 17:32:47
Warburton deserves a chance but do agree he maybe has to change his tactics🤔 Get the impression he is stubborn to this😭😭🇬🇧.

6.) 25 Oct 2016 18:59:49
Garner hasn't had a chance yet get off his back!

7.) 25 Oct 2016 19:06:20
The only things we are progressing towards is mediocrity and a massive debt.

The article was total bull. They have tendered a bid but nothing can be done until after June 11 when he turns 16! Pedro is stated as talking with him and how he would be involved with the starting XI next season so there is still a real chance we will keep the lad

We aren't allowed to put him on the bench until he is 16 unless it's a cup match. Burt looked good in the Scotland u19 match even though it was a poor result. Wouldn't mind seeing him step up in next term when hyndman is gone

I don't really know where all of these red bull rumors are coming from. I'm a commercial development manager for Red Bull in the UAE and have several contacts in the commercial division of a senior rank globally and if anything is going on I am 90% certain I would of heard of something internally. Which consequently i have heard that they are actually buying a hungarian team called Ujpest. This club is owned by the same man who owns Charlton Athletic and Charlton would be included in the deal. A quick google search would confirm this as well

Michael O'Neil? The same guy who's previous managerial roles were Brechin and Shamrock Rovers? You have got to be kidding me. He has done well with NI because the expectations were ZERO! Has is completely unproven at a club where you have to actually sign new players and manage players and fan expectations week in week out. Sorry but that's a big no.

All 3 of them were the last remnants of the existing U20 squad who were turning 20/ 21. They were going to be of an age where they NEED first time football on a regular basis and clearly they were not good enough. Scott Roberts was a bench player at Falkirk and Tom Walsh the same at ST Mirren. If they aren't standout performers for teams like this, then they clearly aren't Rangers quality.

I'd personally have called Walter as he seems to be around Ibrox a lot recently. He's also been more vocal in the tabloids in recent weeks

Hey TOMUSA - i get your point, although I don't know where you have got the whole 'chip on shoulder' situation. He hasn't been playing well, but he has been playing out of position which has been obvious. Toral is also being deployed in that role right now, but with the mid 3 of Toral, Hyndman (who are 21 and 20 respectively) and the pint sized holt, We would be overrun in a heartbeat and kenny would be spending most of his time in the mid trying to dig in and help out. Halliday offers a little more bite and can offer a 'little' more experience in the middle of the park.

I was glad that Toral put in a great second half performance, but the midfield is also a HUGE area of concern. As much as i hate to say this, Broonie is going to bully them off the ball with ease. For me we have to put Halliday in for Holt against the tic for that little extra steel. I know he has been playing really crap recently. But i believe if you have both him and Toral offering protection the to defense and then Hyndman or Forrester offering the spark, we could get a result

I believe max ashmore plays a holding role in the U20's along with Jamie Barjonas. For me - Liam burt HAS to be getting game time now. I am worried he is going to be farmed out to Raith on loan next season when he is clearly a gifted player. Isn't Ross McCrorie supposed to be a CB or DM now?
