Rangers need to treat this game like when Aberdeen played Liverpool just before Ferguson made them into Euro winners and Scottish Champs

He said after losing to Liverpool emphatically in the European Cup 4-1 it would be making or breaking of the players they needed to learn from it.

The rest is history

I am not saying Celtic are anywhere near to Liverpool standard but the gaps are similar and I would take a loss then us winning the league next season all day long possibly the season after.

I really fancied Rangers a month ago when they were playing terrible stuff and we were on a high. Since then they have got a tighter defence and the boy Roberts looks very dangerous as does Rogic not to mention Griffith.

If we can sit in and if Ball can shore up our defence we can win with the breaks these games often hinge on, going our way.

If on other hand celtic play well and our defence makes mistakes as in the recent games we cannot win as they will outscore us

I am using my heart hoping for 1-0 or 2-1 Rangers but my head says 3-1 to them.

As I say though it could be the making of Warburton's era.

Been sick with tension all week more the dread of a big loss.

I don't think we have the players to sit in and keep it tight. Think we will struggle to fill the bench and with Forrester out either Shiels or Law has to come both of whom have been poor since we signed them and haven't had much football this season. They can afford to leave players like Commons and Forrest on the bench while Allan probably won't even make the squad. Could be a long 90 mins for us.

2.) 16 Apr 2016 15:07:14
I hope we have been working hard in training on taking a different approach, if not Celtic will punish us.

Know this is going to upset some but they are a better side in every position including the bench. If we go into the game with our usual approach we will be making it very easy for them.

With the exception of Barcelona every team in world football adapts it's tactics against top opposition- and even they have paid for not doing so recently.

I can only see us winning 1-0 or 2-1 if we play smart and they pay poorly. We need a bit of luck and fringe players such as Clark, shields and law will have to play at some point and play better than they have. Otherwise I fear a pasting could be on the cards.

As iv said before this game has been built up to much. The games next season once we have strengthened are far more important and will have a major influence on how high we can finish next season.

3.) 16 Apr 2016 17:57:36
Luigi: I don't think we'll get a pasting, we're a good team and it will be close.

Have to say i'm very glad we have reminders like this that we have a long way to go yet and forget all the over confidence about beating celtic

we are underdogs but very strong underdogs and a side improving every month

Well played Falkirk fighting back

KT

ps I still think we will beat celtic on the day as there manager is so awful at dealing with big game pressure and has np plan B ever.

George, he won't need to be a great manager, I fear fir Halliday and the defence, seriously, they are pxxh, but we ain't used to being attacked, still a certain guys " prominent source" has got it sorted
Tommy.

Jackson Irvine should be someone we look at. very strong player who can control a game at his best good in every department.

Isn't he a Celtic reject?

2.) 15 Mar 2016 21:53:01
So is Kenny Miller.

3.) 16 Mar 2016 08:14:36
The amount of youngsters that both the old firm have let go must be massive maybe us not so much now but just look at hemmings. Etc.

4.) 16 Mar 2016 09:03:16
Thepoetpatient

You might think Miller was a Celtic reject but I seem to remember him scoring quite a few times against Celtic during his second spell with the club. Will never forget the Celtic fans and their banners slagging Miller off in one game at Celtic park however these banners mysteriously disappeared as Kenny scored 2 in an easy victory.

5.) 16 Mar 2016 11:20:54
Buffo- all well and good but has zero to do with my point. Furthermore, I didn't say he didn't do well for you.

6.) 16 Mar 2016 12:28:57
Was he also a Rangers reject when he joined you's as well?

7.) 16 Mar 2016 14:11:39
Recbob-

In the context of this thread, absolutely.

8.) 16 Mar 2016 02:16:14
Trust Warbs totally just hope he has people watching him

I could not care less if he played for them as we all remember with the Johnston Affair it was all the more enjoyable when their former favourite son scored in final minute to beat them 1-0 and many more great goals he scored he was a professional plus I got my first season ticket after years on waiting list with the morons burning the season books after the era of signing catholics ended.

Jackson Irvine is the real deal I think and I just hope we get him before them

KT.

9.) 16 Mar 2016 17:24:20
I was at the game where Johnston scored in the last minute. I've never before or since heard a racket like it when the ball hit the net! Unbelievable scenes.

10.) 16 Mar 2016 21:44:13
TPP

Can you please define what you think a Celtic or Rangers reject actually is?

11.) 16 Mar 2016 23:36:49
A player whom Celtic or Rangers move on; either against the players wishes, or to appease a player who is no longer first choice.

12.) 17 Mar 2016 08:20:10
TPP

Well by your definition then Gazza was a Rangers reject then.

13.) 17 Mar 2016 11:02:06
Thepoeticpatient

By your definition then Jimmy Johnstone was also a Celtic reject then having been given a free transfer by the club.

14.) 17 Mar 2016 11:48:56
You're misunderstanding my point.

I'm suggesting players that are moved on -- despite their unwillingness -- to other clubs, are (by any other clubs standard) am rejects. I honestly don't know the individual circumstances of the players you mentioned, especially not JJ, but even using your Gazza example - did Rangers want to keep him? Or where you trying to ship him out?

For instance, Van Djik wasn't a reject - we couldn't hold on to him. We punted Kenny Miller (as did you twice) , so yes we signed a Rangers reject. And yes you signed a Celtic reject. In fact you've signed a Rangers-Celtic-Rangers reject.

Kilmarnock signed Kris Boyd. Record breaking goal scorer for Rangers - but they signed a Rangers reject nonetheless.

To be clear this has nothing to do with ability -- when Utd sign Di Maria, he was a Madrid reject.

15.) 17 Mar 2016 11:57:15
Biffo,

A caveat I'll add to that re JJ and PG -- although in truth I don't know if it strictly applies to them -- is that if the club in question tries to keep the player, whether that be in a coaching capacity or lower money etc, shorter deal because of age etc, but the player refuses (for whatever reason) then I don't think they could be considered rejects. They key point would be that they rejected the club in that instance.

The other thing to say is, the term reject is really in the eye of the fans. Mainly, but not strictly, in the incoming fans.

If I found out that, Messi for example, was freed by Barcelona and was signing for us I'd be ecstatic. I, and the overwhelming mAjority of Celtic fans wouldn't see him as a Barcelona reject (or wouldn't care) but fans of opposition teams (including barca) could call him such.

15 Mar 2016 01:49:38
Rangers are ironically the only team able to bring home a "treble" of sorts now after usual Hibs bottle crash.

It would be brilliant were that to happen but to be honest us winning the title as early as possible is the only thing that is important so we can plan for summer signings and have a settled squad ready for 2017/ 7 season and our 55th title.

Scottish Cup and Petrofac will be great bonuses if they both happen

KT.

katiemelons

1.) 15 Mar 2016 17:24:54
Not sure u can say the Petrofac cup win would be a bonus as we are playing a team from a lower league with a fraction of the resources. I expect us to win the league and the Petrofac cup the Scottish cup would be a massive bonus.

2.) 16 Mar 2016 02:17:44
I get your point we should win Petrofac I was more thinking on the treble as the bonus part add to fact beating them would be the end of 4 years hell for all Bears.

KT.

3.) 16 Mar 2016 14:47:58
Biffo, you could say the same about Celtic in the league, league cup and Scottish cup.

4.) 16 Mar 2016 16:31:08
You could but you would be wrong as ross county are in the spl .

5.) 16 Mar 2016 21:41:41

Not interested in what they do on this site to talk about Rangers.

Have to put my hand up and say called that one so wrong a mile out that's why bookies are rich and I am not a good gambler

I thought we were closer to top of SPFL than we are King is correct 5 top quality needed for next year but let's focus on the positives we are better than the rest in Championship so we need to come out fighting and show that in the next 3 games

Think it is far better this happened now than had we played Celtic as then it could have been worse plus embarrassing. At least we can get Eustace in looks like we need him and the defence sorted out (Ball in for Kiernan it seems now) before we possibly face an SPFL in Scottish Cup later in season.

Ryan Gauld is a Rolls Royce compared to Allan a Dacia Duster quality wise therefore he would be a fantastic signing exactly what we need to compete in SPFL and Europa if we can get breaks and beat celtic

The best thing to happen recently has been our defence being exposed as we were being far too cocky about facing celtic.

Ball must be brought in as a 4 man defence playing as it is will lose 2/ 3 goals against celtic.

Regarding next season we have 4 months now to source a real stopper type CB like Terry Butcher or Paul Elliot type that wins balls and runs a defence.

Considering where we were the fact we are even talking about possible Gauld signing and some EPL top stars on loan on top of a very good team of players we already have is amazing.

Offering Nicky Law would mean having to offer £650k plus Law or just £500k without as he is a lump of wood.

King, Gilligan and 3 Bears have the financial backing of the entire Rangers community now. Including many wealthy individuals that would have invested to avoid the Admin previously had we not had the Big Tax Case hanging over us with it's Media exaggerated £100 million black hole hanging over us to put off 99% of investors.

Add to this annual season ticket sales of £12m+ when in SPFL and extremely lickelyhood that we will have at the least Europa Cup games.

After the Fraud Trial and possibly even before we shall see Rangers released from the grip of the Ashley Retail deals as clearly these are part of Greens sabotage of Rangers to the gain of himself Ahmad Stockbridge and their cronies.

Where in your inept calculations bearing mind all this PLUS Supporters Groups now organised that could get the vast numbers of Rangers fans to invest personally.

were these claims ever to be close to being true, do you work out Rangers will be in a 2nd Admin?

Windass and Crooks are higher standard players than half current squad I think Windass in particular will end up heading to BPL in a couple of years him and Waggy will be our league winning attack next season they will score 50+ between them possibly 60+ he is that good.

Looking at every player Warbs has signed esp Holt and Forrester he can really spot a rough diamond so I trust him 100% to spend sensibly £1m-£3m max mostly on wage deals

We will win the league next year IF Delia stays.

Excellent post and I agree 100% the other benefit being that most Euro and World based players have a far higher technical ability.

We need to balance that with the ability to fit in as some nationalities are just not suited to our game.

That said I feel MW is much more likely to look at loan signings for our 'star' players and lower league England plus Scottish players to keep the team a group of players that are similar minded he definitely favours British which I think works.

In the same ego stroking frame of mind as the modest bluepete I have posted on here over 3 years (george) that we will win the SPFL first year back the reasoning being every game for us the whole season is an act of revenge mission so every game is a cup final for us add to that celtic have had zero pressure and zero competition yet they are under pressure this and a lot of last season from the sheep

With 5 additions we will have the best team in the top division and we already have the best manager
