I was at a wee 'function' last night with a former playing legend who told me JJ had been trying to entice a Dutch right back called - Pele! - but he decided to go to the USA instead. Never heard of the guy, just passing on info. Maybe someone can enlighten me?

wee-ecky

1.) 12 Jul 2017 23:37:54
Pele Van Anholt. Just signed for L A Galaxy.

2.) 13 Jul 2017 00:02:21
Thanks bluegenius. Looks like the story had legs after all. He also mentioned a Portuguese full back whose name I can't remember, as drink was taken. I suppose it will happen or it won't.

3.) 13 Jul 2017 01:02:01
Only two options wee ecky. It'll either happen or it won't.

As far as I'm aware, Pedro doesn't have a transfer budget, he has a football budget which will be increased by about £4million plus any saved wages from players who are shown the door. From this sum (about £16m) will come wages (maybe £9-10m), signing on fees, agent's fees and other expenses. There won't be much left for actual transfer fees, I'm afraid.

wee-ecky

1.) 07 May 2017 11:41:19
As far as you're aware? Which board member told you this?

2.) 07 May 2017 12:18:52
More nonsense spouted on here. Only Pedro will know what his budget will be!

3.) 07 May 2017 13:12:52
Wee-ecky must be a board member with inside information like that!

4.) 07 May 2017 14:38:42
Have to say that one does sound about right.

5.) 07 May 2017 19:08:31
If board members were dishing out info like this I would be be even more annoyed than I already am at the state of the club
Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me

6.) 07 May 2017 19:23:30
Not a board member, unfortunately, that's why I qualified it by saying 'as far as I'm aware'. That means it's a rumour. This site is called Rangers Rumours. Are you getting it yet? It actually came from a senior member of Ibrox staff who assists in the day to day running of the stadium and its offices. I'm not really giving anything away here, because those of you who actually know the club and how it is run will realise it could be one of about five people. I had a conversation with this person and I posted what was suggested during that conversation.

7.) 08 May 2017 12:44:38
Wouldn't worry about it wee ecky? Loads on here just spend their time slating every rumour they hear on a rumour page 😂

05 May 2017 11:52:12
Just in from work to an email suggesting just 6 players are going plus the two loanees. The six, it seems, are:
O'Halloran, Kiernan, Senderos, Forrester, Crooks and Hill.

It is also suggested that five will come in to replace the eight, all Pedro's men, mostly defenders. No idea who.

wee-ecky

1.) 05 May 2017 12:34:03
Can't see crooks going, think he will be given a chance to impress caixinha once back from his injury, personally think he could be like a new signing if he gets a good pre season under his belt

2.) 05 May 2017 13:33:06
Maybe there is already an offer in for him which would free up cash for Pedro's men

3.) 05 May 2017 14:15:41
You don't half read some pi*h on this. If pedro has his way there will be about 6 left for next season. Crooks and his mate windass are abysmal moh kiernan garner waghorn hodgson halliday holt forrester aren't good enough. Hill Nico and senderos are finished. Beerman and bates will end up on loan in championship. Only problem is who will buy these players. Tav Miller Waldo Mackay Dodoo Rossiter Wilson and 2 goalies are only ones i'd keep.

4.) 05 May 2017 14:29:32
Only players worth keeping are Wallace, miller and rossiter, the rest aren't good enough however I fear a number of the dead wood will still be there next season. The manager really needs to bring in a min of a dozen players.

5.) 05 May 2017 19:46:33
I have on here reiterated what wee-ecky has just had info on! I said around 7 out with 7 coming in! I wonder who the 7 signings will be? I reckon 2 centre halfs, 1 defensive midfielder, 2 attacking midfielders, 1 winger and 1 striker!

6.) 05 May 2017 19:48:42
I'd get shot of tav and mckay too.

7.) 05 May 2017 19:58:32
Rossoter? we've seen him about 5 times

8.) 05 May 2017 20:03:11
Why does everyone want to keep Mackay, how often does he have a good game and I want a defender who can defend, sell tav and throw in Halliday, buy one get one free.

9.) 05 May 2017 20:05:00
Thats why he handed the board list with 12 names on it. Whether he gets them all is entirely dependant on how many of the current dross he can punt

10.) 05 May 2017 21:38:59
I agree, I'm as concerned as everybody else that a lot of this deadwood is still going to be here next season, but my Ibrox contact is really reliable. And chinabairn, how do you know what Pedro would do if he had his way?

11.) 06 May 2017 08:53:56
Need 2 strikers

25 Apr 2017 01:40:22
I hear Mikel Arteta has been in discussions with Rangers over 'potential destinations' for some younger Man City players who are either being freed or will be available for longer term loans (a whole season) . Might be something JJ is working on, it seems. Could unearth a couple of crackers like Beerman.

wee-ecky

1.) 25 Apr 2017 04:13:47
Dept is run by lawless relative. It's why they got Roberts. These kids will to the time c if anywhere

2.) 25 Apr 2017 08:38:54
Arteta did preach to Wenger about Ibrox being a great place for a youngster to be bled. This is why we ended up with so many Arsenal links.

3.) 25 Apr 2017 11:09:18
All for signing a couple of good youngsters, but relying so heavily on the loan market has to stop. Sunday showed how far behind them we are, we need proper investment or the gap will remain.

4.) 25 Apr 2017 12:07:31
I think that we would be wise to pick a few youngsters from big teams down south who are nearing the end of their contract.
Like Rossiter and Beerman. Also like Dembele over the Dark side. There is a lot of talent to be tapped and because it's cross border the fees are negligible compared to what clubs down south would pay.

5.) 25 Apr 2017 13:24:31
Wearerangers they got Roberts because of deila and the fact they paid a fee probs helped aswell

6.) 25 Apr 2017 14:06:33
We don't really need to look at the loan market at all. There is plenty of good Championship level players out of contract at the end of the season that have sensible wages, those are the players we should be going for.

7.) 25 Apr 2017 15:14:53
Wrong thebear. Lawless son scouting manager at man city. That club hates us n

8.) 25 Apr 2017 19:20:51
sorry onlyshow but i don't think more championship players are what we need at our club

9.) 26 Apr 2017 12:06:44
English Championship players? Sorry but When I say Championship I meant English Championship. I don't mean Scottish Championship. English Championship is the level of player we need, a lot of players have affordable wages too.

10.) 27 Apr 2017 13:37:24
Even English championship, i think we need players that would get into the Premier League but aren't there so are still affordable. that's why i'd like us to go to Scandinavian countries and find a gem or to get better from Portugal, Egypt or South Africa, places like these have great players not yet discovered and that's where we need to be doing business.

buy small, sell big remember and buying from the championship is too expensive for us right now with most players on 20 grand plus a week down in the English championship.

06 Apr 2017 21:10:04
A senior club official, who assists in the day to day running of Ibrox, has told me that today Pedro has now identified eleven players who he wants to keep next season with another four still under consideration, two because they are currently injured (Rossiter and Krankjar, maybe? ) and another two who he needs to see more of.

This eleven includes the two goalkeepers - and the two boys who started last night, so that's really seven of the current outfield playing squad, maybe a maximum of 11. That suggests he's going to try to bring in at least 8 players and promote some youngsters. God knows who all these guys are he wants to keep, because I can't see that many.

wee-ecky

1.) 06 Apr 2017 21:27:55
And the money is coming from?

2.) 06 Apr 2017 22:32:45
What about the loanees are they part of the 11 listed players?

3.) 06 Apr 2017 22:49:34
Ajax1872, I've no idea. What you read is exactly what I was told, but I assume not. Loan players are just that, you cannot count on them as regular players. From what I heard, is seems he's making up his mind and his squad in the knowledge that some of those he'd like to get rid of will have to be kept for the sake of numbers. This leads me to speculate that he'll keep around ten outfield players, the two keepers, a couple of youngsters and that will give him about 14 of a squad. He'll obviously then need another 6-8 players, maybe including a loanee or two, of first-team standard.

4.) 06 Apr 2017 23:40:25
There's no way he's made his mind up after 3 competitive games, sorry but that ridiculous.

I would suspect he's identified targets to strengthen certain areas but to suggest that he's narrowed a playing squad of circa 25 down to 11 in such a short period of time is definately, 100% rubbish!

5.) 07 Apr 2017 13:16:15
Where is the money coming from? Same place 1.8 million came from for garner and same place 300,000 compensation came from for Pedro. I'm only half a genius myself, but I'll guess. Bank account?

6.) 07 Apr 2017 15:07:10
Why is it ridiculous when everybody else can see it. These guys have had long enough and are not of the calibre required to challenge for the league never mind play in Europe. Remember he will also be looking in training and deciding. The players not giving enough in training will be out the door. Why waste your time on any player not willing to train harder to improve, when they are esrning very good money by SPFL standards. There are no players that good that don't need it. The only players with pass marks are Emerson who is a loan and Foderingham. I think the young lad Beerman has potential.

7.) 07 Apr 2017 15:59:23
j1985, he and his coaches have seen, studied and worked with these players almost every day for a month. I would assume that the process of decision making is indeed well under way, as with an awful lot of our players it's not difficult to spot that they are rank rotten. I did express surprise that he's considering keeping so many.

8.) 07 Apr 2017 19:22:40
Ecky. Speaking from experience (I used to coach under 19's), training only shows so much of what a player can do. I had a group of 18 boys who looked like world beaters on a Monday and Wednesday at training, come Sunday they'd be average at best. Nothing we did in training improved them come match day so I truly believe that a player should ultimately be judged in a competitive playing environment. Like I said, I'd be absolutly gobsmacked if Pedro has decided at this point which players are part of his plans for next season after such a short period and with a lot of competitive football left this season.

9.) 08 Apr 2017 14:36:41
j1985, I also coached for many years and you'd be gobsmacked at where and at what level, but I'm not going to boast. Suffice to say when we had players in on trial or for development coaching, it was fairly easy to separate the wheat from the chaff quite quickly and we were very seldom wrong.

It's actually easier for Pedro as he can study CDs of previous matches to supplement what he is seeing on the pitch and at training, so it's not just current form he knows about, then matching that information up with the opinions of his staff and after a month he's firming up on decisions. That's not a short period at pro level, as I said anybody experienced looking at our squad for that length of time could easily see most of them are rotten.

10.) 08 Apr 2017 15:24:16
J1985 "nothing we did in training improved them"! I think maybe its not your players that are the problem!

Ryan Gauld, anybody? PC must know him and the fact that he's currently playing reserve team football with seemingly little chance of a first team spot anytime soon. Wee loan deal for a season maybe?

wee-ecky

1.) 22 Mar 2017 11:19:52
Not a bad shout and worth the risk.

2.) 22 Mar 2017 12:46:14
Sporting seemingly don't want to sell him. They rate him highly. We'd at best be able to get him on loan, which would be unlikely as Sporting don't want him to be on loan outside of Portugal.

3.) 22 Mar 2017 15:32:54
You have basically made the case for not signing him. he is a reserve team player at an average European club. He is the same as most other wonder kids remember Danny Wilson? Jamie Ness? Etc. He will fade into obscurity.

4.) 22 Mar 2017 15:38:36
i would definitely try get him back over here as he had the most potential before he left but hasn't really lit the place alight as yet

5.) 22 Mar 2017 15:52:17
Everything I've seen about him is that sporting don't rate him and he has shown nothing since he went out their. Is he not on his 2nd loan already and barely played in either?

6.) 22 Mar 2017 15:57:39
onlyshowaroud, I take it that information is from your insider contact in Lisbon? I can't find it anywhere else and I've even looked at the Portuguese media.

7.) 22 Mar 2017 23:55:19
How do loans help us long term?

8.) 23 Mar 2017 13:25:21
Signing other teams young players for development is a slap in the face to young players at the academy, just read about 25 comments about loyalty but why don't club show some loyalty to the young lads that are already here bursting a gut to get in rather than bring in a 20 year old straight into our team, then any really good prospect in future will think "nah I'll no go to them as I'll get to u20's then they'll bring in a loan for Spain or EPL then I'll be loaned to Cowdenbeath " ( no offence to Cowdenbeath)

That's just my opinion on bringing in young loans though most people may disagreed

10 Feb 2017 00:33:34
I've read a lot on here that some consider others are not 'real' fans for one reason or another, so:
What is a 'real' fan?
A club has 100,000 fans.
50,000 of them regularly attend games so the other 50,000 can’t be real fans.
25,000 of the ones who attend criticise the manager so they can’t be real fans.
15,000 of the ones left criticise the players so they can’t be real fans.
Of the 10,000 that are left, 8,000 criticise the board so they can’t be real fans.
1,998 0f the 2,000 left said we could win the SPL in our first year back so they can’t be real fans.
So me and my wee pal Joe are the only 'real' Rangers fans.

wee-ecky

1.) 10 Feb 2017 08:21:10
What is your point?

2.) 10 Feb 2017 09:17:04
Wee-Ecky, sorry to break it to you but I've seen you critique MW so I'm afraid that it's all down to your pal Joe

3.) 10 Feb 2017 09:55:14
good breakdown of the fanbase, pity the basis of your post is rubbish

4.) 10 Feb 2017 12:09:49
Im sure there was over 200,000 rangers fans in manchester a few years ago.

5.) 10 Feb 2017 13:46:32
Maybe you and you're wee pal joe should replace warburton and weir?

6.) 10 Feb 2017 13:34:01
wee ecky haven't you beenon here being critical of any of the above?
me oh me oh my! what's the world coming to where rangers fans that aren't happy are turning on their own!

7.) 10 Feb 2017 17:19:18
The post was merely an attempt to lighten things up - I've been critical of them all! It's this 'can't be a real fan' rubbish if you don't agree with somebody that I was getting at. Surely the debate could reach above such puerile statements. Then again, maybe not. Bye!

24 Dec 2016 16:11:21
We were poor today, no doubt. We couldn't cope with Inverness physically, and when moving the ball we were sluggish and slack. What really concerns me, however, is that in every game we seem to die in the last 15 minutes. We just don't look fit enough or energetic enough to last the full 90 and that's when I fear the mhankies will run over us. It's a real worry and at this stage of the season we should be close to peak fitness.

wee-ecky

1.) 24 Dec 2016 19:35:56
Have we not won 3 games this season after 90 mins?

2.) 24 Dec 2016 22:07:53
He's chose his facts to push his own point of view. It's a poor argument.

3.) 24 Dec 2016 22:07:03
Wasn't the best game, some daft mistakes brought on by ourselves again. A few weeks ago we would have dropped points in this game, probably the only positive to take from game was the fact we won it. Big lift needed for midweek. C'mon let's keep the momentum going!

4.) 24 Dec 2016 22:36:18
We certainly were nowhere near our best today but we got the 3 points in a mediocre performance, something we wouldn't have been able to do a good few weeks back! Sometimes you have to win this way and thankfully we did. A special mention to clint hill today. Said at the game today with still around half an hour to play, that he was man of the match! Our defence looks a lot more solid when hill is playing in it! Great experience, which sticks out like a sore thumb, terrific reader of the game, puts fires out before they start, tremendous in the air, terrific communicator and organiser, at 38 years old reminds me very much of big davie weir when he signed for us at 37 years old! I think clint hill deserves another 1 year contract as he's an old school centre half! Quite simply big clint hill is a role model and terrific professional, as you can see with how well rob kiernan plays beside the very calm, cool clint hill! Imo, hill has to start next week against celtic, and i do think he will, with kiernan beside him!

24 Sep 2015 18:57:48
I'm reading a lot here about needing a good defensive midfield player. I'm told that's actually Dominic Ball's natural position, so I would try playing him there as a sweeper in front of the two CDs and to cover for whatever wing-back is pushing forward. This would leave a choice of Holt, Halliday and Zelalem for the other two central places and offer us just a wee bit more security. Since Oduwa can also play in the centre, it would have the added bonus of not seeing much of Law again. Better to try and test things now while we can. The league's almost certainly going to be won anyway.

wee-ecky

1.) 25 Sep 2015 09:05:42
We're playing a high line and it's modern football we're playing. It's obsolete and a myth to believe in the defensive holding midfielder these days. Arsenal have done pretty well without one the last 10 years.

People say Kiernan and Wilson aren't fast enough but they're a damn sight quicker than the likes of a McKinnon and Greig, Jackson and Forsyth. Halliday and Zelalem are must starters for us and we need their creativity. A Scott Brown ? No thanks. Lots posting we need Eustace and yet none have ever seen him play. I don't get that one. It's clear we need to score the first goal to limit this counter attacking philosophy of our opposition and McKay should start and Miller, if he does, sticks to the centre. I don't mind conceding 2 goals with this attacking style if we score 6.

2.) 25 Sep 2015 09:33:47
Kfraser. Defensive mid is a more relevant role now more than ever due to attacking style of modern full backs.
Siting arsenal as a model for success over 10 years is defeating your own argument.
Compare them to Chelsea (essien, matic) or man u (carrick, keane) every great team has a midfield dynamo. Real, barca. Great attacking quality supported by a rock.

3.) 25 Sep 2015 19:46:35
I agree with kfraser. In this League it will be an empty jersey. If he does put someone in that role it should be on a horses for courses basis.
Maybe certain away games.

4.) 26 Sep 2015 07:28:29
Kfraser what utter nonsense in one swoop you have proved your football knowledge is mince, I'm assuming you have heard of Patrick viera in your wee bubble? Arsenals biggest problem is they have replaced a world class defensive midfielder with inferior ones like diaby, song, flamini and even now coquelin, all decent players but not as good as viera . One of the Arsenal fans biggest gripes is that arsen won't go out and spend big money on a decent one as well as a striker, hence the fact they are constantly linked with the likes of Sami kidera . The def mid position is one of the most important positions in the modern game and all successful teams have good ones.

{Ed001's Note - Vieira was a box to box midfielder, Petit was the defensive midfielder in that Arsenal midfield. Gilberto Silva replaced him and was the one that Wenger never replaced.}

5.) 26 Sep 2015 18:24:33
What you mean like Keane was a box to box midfielder and not a sitting midfielder? The reason I left petit out was the op said in the last 10 years and I thought he was gone longer than that .

{Ed001's Note - aye, Keane was too, good point, I never saw that reply. Silva was the defensive midfielder Arsenal missed though. Once he went they stopped winning.}

19 Aug 2015 13:13:07
Funny how the main report claiming Zelalem might not come to Ibrox is in the Daily Rebel, but how can you believe a website report that gets the player's name wrong (ZALALEM) and can't get the legendary Jurgen Klinsmann's name right either (JURGAN)! Scottish media? The most inept, incompetent, narcissistic, bigoted idiots in the western world.

colshygers, what players aren't buying into his management skills or style of play? The nine he signed, few of whom have even started a game yet? You believe they've been here hardly long enough to have a pee at Auchenhowie and are already in revolt against the manager? Or do you mean the dumbwits that are a hangover from last season? Some people on here need to get a grip on reality.
