Heard we are looking to lower our park to increase the capacity to nearly 60.000.

Neil coulter, I know the head groundsman and this was mentioned during the Souness era. Not sure why it didn't materialize. Certainly makes sense, hope it transpires.

I think the lowering of the park is to do with drainage and something to do with Clyde river. It was spoken in depth years ago and put to bed I think. The only way I see the attendance being raised is corners being filled.

Option was ruled out in Souness years due to the water table and proximity to the Clyde.

It was lowered in the 90s and has currently got specialist in doing a study to see if they could further lower the pitch. Rangers want it to give space for 6k seats for the 150 year anniversary in 2 years time. but that deadline will be very tight.

They also have the potential of getting rid of the screens in the corners to add to the capacity. I think there could be a stadium move, I know how much ibrox means but maybe a stadium move for couple years knock down all stands bar main and rebuild to larger capacity.

I know main stand can't be knocked down as I'm sure its listed but could work round about it. Not sure if its whole stand or only certain area. Would be great to have bigger capacity so it would generate bigger revenue for matches and more fans at home games.

Spoke to a lad on rangers archives page who said can't can't go down the way for few reasons water table, clyde, and touchline has to be minimum of 4 metres from stand. Were at 5 the now.

I don't believe we could afford to build a new stadium. Please feel free to shoot me down but wouldn't we be looking at an unrealistic minimum cost of £50-60 million?

Also what would be the point of demolishing a fantastic stadium and rebuilding for a couple of thousand more seats?

We don't need a complete new stadium. Ibrox stadium is unique and a very intimidating, iconic stadium.
A little renovation with the corners filled in to increase our capacity and maybe another tier on the sandy jardine stand and or the copland road and broomloan road stands. There's a few different ideas we can do with our wonderful,
atmospheric home. The home where massive legends have performed on throughout our unrivalled, unique history! ♥️👍.

Surely adding another tier to the govan stand could be doable? There's no way we need to knock 3/ 4 of the stadium and rebuild.

No chance do we build a new stadium, ibrox is ibrox. A third tier on the govan gets my vote👍.

It is unlikely that any of the existing stands will be able to withstand additional loads so extending the tiers of any areas is not really practical.
I think the best thing would be to be a full redevelopment and create a two tier stadium from the west enclosure all the way to the east enclosure . keeping thie min stand as this is our history.

Mr Grumpy. we can’t add to the govan as the founds aren’t strong enough to take another tier.

Am sure there's ways and means. we managed to get an extra tier on the main stand, which is a a listed building. Am not a structural engineer or architect though.

If we filled in the corners can we not hang screens on the stands at both ends? Just a thought.

All 3 of the 1970’s built stands constructed with option to add another tier. Would be costly though.
