So Dundee FC have sold their souls to the SPFL devil. The no vote that never was, that became null and void (? ) before magically reappearing from cyberspace and becoming a yes vote with the promise of unknown backhanders and the title of the saviours of Scottish Football!
If we are lead to believe anything, it appears their change of mind was all to do with league reconstruction. What's in it for Dundee FC?
Going by current standings, the only way league reconstruction would benefit Dundee FC is if the Premier League was increased to 16 teams. Even with an 8-team split to give the TV companies their 4 Old Firm games they crave, that's a 44 game season! And considering it's all about the money for these clubs would the bottom 8 clubs be happy about 2 less visits ( 1 Rangers and 1 Tim ) from the Old Firm?
So have Dundee FC been offered additional benefits to back league reconstruction in the form of cash incentives? And why should they be the only club that benefits? Are we therefore looking at a 14-club top flight? Which would see no relegation and Dundee Utd and ICT join the Premier League? We would have a split of 6/ 8 after 39 games, which means the top 6 would still play 44 games. But the bottom 8 would play 46 games. The TV companies would still get their 4 Old Firm games plus their Edinburgh Derby as well. You'd also have a Highland Derby and I'm sure we could somehow jazz up The Sheep against Scumdee Utd!
But and it's a big but, it needs ALL 42 clubs to agree to any league reconstruction.
And there is plenty of clubs who might fancy revenge on Dundee FC for selling their soul.
Would Rangers or Celtic fancy be playing a 44-game season on top of their recent semi successful Europa League campaigns?
And throw in an already congested football calendar when any free space is taken up by international fixtures.
In my opinion there is too many variables in play for league construction. If Hibs wanted Hearts not to be relegated, they could have voted no to the SPFL proposal.
Teams like Airdrie and Montrose, 5 and 6 points behind Raith Rovers respectively, could have voted no instead of giving up from a football perspective. Should these clubs be benefitting from league construction when it's all about the money and not the football?
Teams like Kelty Hearts, who've put their heart and soul to climb the pyramid system being denied because of the self interest of clubs already in the league.
I hope when the dust settles, Rangers do the right thing and look after themselves. We owe the SFA, SPFL and Scottish Football in general NOTHING.

if there is a 14 team league, they will split after playing each other twice into top 6 and bottom 8. Play each other twice again. 36 games for top 6.

well if this is how it happens in our game, then alas after 60 years i'm out of it for good, a stinking cesspit of corruption is all that can be said for it.
Some teams will do anything to survive, including walking over the dying.
if Rangers don't show and share then they are as bad imo, but i sorely hope they nail some mackerel.

The bottom teams in the premier League will never vote for that as they will lose out on a money spinning visit from either Rangers or Celtic fans.
That why I said a 44 game season. It's the only way to keep the other clubs happy. And why I asked would Rangers or Celtic vote for it given the additional European games we play?
The sooner everyone realises it's all about money to 75% of the clubs in the premier league then we'll all realise Rangers have to look after number 1.👍.

Splitting the league is and always has been ridiculous so is playing teams 4 times a season if there is to be league reconstruction then why not just have 20 teams in the top devision and play each other twice? Copy the English model it’s the most successful league in the world. It would make old firm games much more anticipated and there for bigger for the fans, the other 22 teams could make up the championship and do the 3 up 3 down relegation promotion scenario with play offs for the 3rd promotion place. Let’s face it everything “except the famous” about Scottish football sucks right now so why not turn it on it’s head 🤷🏽‍♂️.
