Regards my post unfortunately my captain would be Mc Gregor but I would never have a goalkeeper as a captain, you see his passion with what he sees in front of him and wants better.

Sometimes goalkeepers are the best captains IE. Buffon at juve, cassilas at Madrid but they were younger when they took the captaincy so for the reason of age alone as we don't want to replace captains yearly I would have to say Ryan Jack with Arfield as vice.

Allan McGregor is nowhere near mature enough to be a captain.

Look at his sending off last season as well as the incidents of lashing out against Aberdeen and Celtic. This coupled with his general attitude on the pitch of screaming and balling at everyone and getting involved in absolutely everything he can would make him an awful captain.

Scott Arfield is the ideal captain IMO. He is one of, if not the best player at the club. Speaks well, handles himself well on and off the pitch, improves players around him and when he is on his game he is the best no.8 in the country. Gerrard obviously knows he can use Arfield in a number of positions because of his ability however if he was playing regaurly in centre midfield no one in this league would touch him.

shagger has spit a dummy out more than once the past few seasons, not my idea for a captain.

Jack is best equipped to be club captain although we should have captains all over the pitch. To be honest I can’t recall If Hyypia, Gerrard or Carragher was the main captain of Liverpool and think they all played in the same team.

Not McGregor for me - his tendency to lose the nut and he will not be a regular 1st choice come the end of the season if last season is a measure.

Jack, nope, not for me either.

Davis, too late.

Arfield is probably the only contender unless we bring in someone new but if Tav is not sold, he should retain the captaincy.

If our midfield had contributed their share of goals last season we would have won the league and no-one would be questioning our captain.

As in the Souness and Smith Era, it should not matter who the captain is because the team should be stacked full of leaders and winners. That for me is where our problem lies, with the exception of McGregor and Davis we don't have any players that know what winning is all about. Since I am not a fan of goalkeepers as captain and Davis best playing days are behind him we need to bring in a couple of leaders / guys that have medals to their name. We have some very good young players coming through, we need strikers and a strong midfield player that can look after himself and his team mates.

Don't get carried away with suggestions on a new captain guys.

Stevie is stubborn and seems to believe in Tav so he will still be our captain (unfortunately in my opinion) .
