Apparently John Souter had minor procedure on Monday in London.
Hearts not happy as they wanted him to get it done in June. He refused.

Is he going to play 2 games and do a danny prodan or katic etc miss 3 quarters of a season etc hoefully gio got more cb. s ready to come in.

sometimes in football it isn't about who is the better player, john souttar has been playing in the top flight of scottish football in every single season bar 1 since he made his dundee united debut at the age of 16, you'd struggled to find a defender his age with as much experience of top flight scottish football as him, i think souttar was signed as a 'worst case scenario' incase goldson leaves, i understand that souttar is injury prone but i do think it was a clever signing and can see souttar being an important squad player for us in the coming years.

completely disagree with the notion that katic is a better defender than souttar, katic struggled to get a game for us when goldson's cb oartner was changing most games leading to the 'free katic' spam messages on anything the club put on social media.

for what its worth i absolutely agree with bankie, and i strongly believe we would have been far stronger at celtic park with him beside connor, 100% imo

also i'm sure he told hearts he was very unhappy and i had a hunch he would use every excuse to clear any niggling injuries before coming to rangers. where his heart already lies.

John Souttar will start for us week in week out, his reading of the game and range of passing are top tier. He would be playing high in the English Premier League if it had not been for his injuries.

Tjbb he is certainly better than Edmundson who we moved on katic, Simpson Balogun and possibly Helander.
I think Goldson edges it on Souttar. But will most likely leave in summer.

Personally I hope that Goldson signs a new contract. I would rather that we moved on Helander and obviously Simpson and brought in Doehki and Souttar. That would give us a solid central defensive cover + one other.

I think souttar is exactly what we have been missing this season. He's a defender that can defend and is also a threat at set pieces. He doesn't have the distribution of Goldson or the pace of Balogun but he has the reading of the game that hellander has and for me defends better than all 3. He is a no nonsense old school CB that will dominate oppositionstrikers. If it hadn't been for his bad luck with injuries he would be 1st choice at national side and wouldn't be at hearts
John I hear we are looking at Doehki and 2 other Dutch CBs. 1 a youngster. I also hear we will be using the Dutch Market with Vos using his Ajax connections. Could be huge advantage for Doehki signature as he came through Ajax youth when Vos was there. Would also like to see us have a look at Bazoer from vitesse as think he is cracking player and I believe out of contract.
