John he showed up well in Europe but in the League he lost us too many points by not commanding his area, crosses into the box are how teams in the league play against us and this is how we lost too many silly goals when the game should have been wrapped up. my opinion.

Tbh I really hope he’s not first choice next season. His inability to come for crosses has cost us a lot this season and ultimately if we had the greegsy of 19/ 20 in the sticks this season I think we win the league. Off my head cost us points at Ross county away, hearts at home and Celtic at home. That’s a minimum of an 8 point swing over Celtic. Can’t remember if it was the semi final or the final but McLaughlin came for a corner/ free kick in the last couple mins and caught it relieving all pressure which is something McGregor can’t do. Great keeper in the past but domestically his form wasn’t good enough and ultimately keeping players because of their name and history won't win us trophies in the future. Good to keep in the dressing room but anything above that is a no from me.

As for domestically McGregor's for wasn't U get he made a couple high profile errors but he was generally steady as feck and all keepers make a couple of boobs over season. And in those games I didn't see central defenders trying to clear ball they were nowhere that's when you end up getting errors from keepers when they are constantly covering defenders.

Too me while he was great in Europe, his mistakes contributed massively to us losing league. Ross County hearts motherwell twice, not coming off his line killed us at vital points in the season. He's been a tremendous servant for us, but I honestly think in giving mcgregor davis and arfield new deals we are standing still again. It cost us last season not strengthening and so far it looks like same mistakes again.

Everyone of them games should've been out of sight but our forward players couldn't finish their dinners. The Motherwell games we should've been 4 or 5 up before we got into a conversation about Shagger. The Ross County last minute game was caused by Lundstram trying too play a 60 yard cross field pass instead of just holding onto the ball leading too the corner. Granted the Hearts game Shagger was fully at the blame for that one.

McGregor is a safe pair of hands to have in the squad, whether he’s 1st choice, back up or used in a rotation then so be it. What I can’t understand is the clamour over McCrorie. He’s played well in 2 games, both games he had very little to do but what he did have he did well. Nothing to suggest to me that he is an unbelievable keeper, if he was that good he’d be in the first team already surely or at the very least back up to McGregor? Maybe for the long term they don’t think McCrorie is good enough and would rather tie down McGregor until they can get a better replacement for the long term.
No doubt McGregor is past his best, but he’s still better than most of the keepers in the league. I’d much rather have McGregor as he is now than a Zander Clark or a Liam Kelly, 2 names which have been mooted a few times.

I am of the opinion the McGregor is still the best goalkeeper at the Club and it will be interesting to see GVB's view. I don't believe that losing games where McGregor lost poor goals cost us the league. There were a lot of contributing factors not least of which was our failure to bring in quality players both in January and also last summer. Since McLaughlin does appear to be the better of him and McGregor in handling cross balls perhaps he will play more in SPFL Games where the quality is poor and many of our competitors depend on launching balls into the box from corners and free kicks, and McGregor playing in Europe. With McGregor 41 and McLaughlin 35 before the end of next season, of we don't rate McCrorie then we need to sign a quality young keeper for Season 23 / 24.

Let’s be honest, if McLauglin had made the clangers that McGregor made against Ross County, Motherwell and Hearts last season he would have had a list of fans offering to taxi him out of the club for free.
McGregor has been fantastic and plenty of his saves have been world class but age catches up with us all and last seasons basic errors highlighted his issues.
Anyone can point to the amazing saves but you cannot ignore the errors and his lack of control of the box at crosses that probably mean he has to make more sales than if he caught the ball.
That said I’m not disappointed that he is still with us. I wouldn’t have offered a new deal but that’s why I was overlooked in favour of Gio.

literally torn apart when i said greegs had a deal on table for weeks, some people in this very post told me i was talking rubbish, and there was “ absolutely no way “ mcgregor was offered another year, i was told the deal was offered weeks ago, by a rangers supporting football journalist, i had no reason to disbelieve him,

Tom, u were lucky if he was 4th best keeper in Scotland last season. Gordon and Hart had better seasons than mcgregor, could probably make a case for seigrest and Liam Kelly also. Like I said, I love mcgregor and he's been a terrific servant but domestically staying rooted to his line constantly has cost us at least 8 points this season just off the top of my head.

Guys I'm not disputing that McGregor has been a great servant to Rangers and is a wonderful keeper (I am a fan honest) . BUT he is getting on a bit now and I would prefer a younger goalie that can command his area, my heart is in my mouth every cross into the box and that's exactly how the teams in our league play. anyone who has witnessed the goals we lost last season can't honestly say it was because of outfield players as they were mostly caused by balls into the 6 yard area that should be covered by a keeper. but as I said I am a fan of McGregory how can I not be, but it's time to move forward. my opinion.

So McGregor first and foremost lost us the title because of errors against Ross County Celtic and hearts (the same hearts game where once again we missed chance after chance) and he isn’t good enough to be our first choice goalkeeper anymore and in some cases shouldn’t even be at the club! ??♂️ These will be the same people who rave about Diallo! ??.

If you read my post I wrote domestically so celtic getting put out of Europe 3 times doesn't come into the equation. If celtic didn't sign joe hart last season we would still have won the league imo. Gordon and Hart had far better seasons domestically than Allan mcgregor last season. Also no one is trying to tear him apart, I'm sure everyone on here appreciates what he has done for our club but time doesn't stand still at rangers, notvfor anyone. Was time to go imo, looks like most think the same. His 16k wage could have been put towards a new long term no 1 for years to come.

Herewego, I don't disagree with what you say, especially regarding acquiring a long tern No. 1, the problem that I see is securing that player. A lot of us wanted to see us sign the West Brom Goalkeeper but he appears to have gone to Crystal Palace so what chance do we have when we can't compete with Teams like that. Clearly, money is the number one priority for a lot of these guys so we need to have a scouting network that can pick up these guys from leagues that do not pay as much as us or where they see us as a stepping stone to the EPL.
Its a difficult one, we appear to be excellent at finding top quality youngsters that are stars of the future but we have less success in finding players that can walk straight into our first team at the wages that we can afford.
