At Ibrox today there was solid chat that the board, through Wilson, have indicated to the manager that at least five players need to be removed from the wage bill as squad size was part of the budget deal to bring in a host of new players. Names were speculation, but the obvious favourites were there, Simpson, Helander, Katic, Middleton, Sakala, McCrorie, Roofe etc.
That could be about right, I guess, as our fully fit squad could number quite a bit over 30.

It's getting teams to take these players off our hands that's going be the test. Helander and Roofe are surplus requirements but who will buy them due to injury worries? Simpson and Middleton couldn't be given away in a lucky bag and Katic wasn't even wanted in his own country after his loan deal.

You all have short memories katic was playing well before the fall out with goldson. Even today it was apparent how bad a defender goldson is. Our problem last year was defense not attack. And same again goldson rubbish in the air. People seem to forget Katic was on verge of the Croatian national team before fall out Stephen RFC clubs in Croatia have even less cash than spl and you think they can splash 3 million ? man.

First time poster here, helander and sakala are not surplus to requirements in my eyes - helander is an excellent defender and sakala goals to minutes ratio is fine with me considering last season was his first. We have brought in some quality signings which i would say have left us stronger than last season, especially with yilmaz to come in to give us two expetional left backs. Roofe is another good player but if he is sold i think we could make another signing to replace. I think gio has an idea of what he wants and i think the board will give him what he wants. watp.

Very clear Wright and Matondo are ahead of Sakala in getting game time after seeing the line ups and subs today

Goldson, Souttar, Davies, Sands, Helander, King are all ahead of Katic and Simpson in getting game time

Having too many players around the team not getting a game sometimes creates a poisonous atmosphere as they just get the s**ts

It’s time to get a bunch of this squad moved on and out the door.

Great to see Kamara being played as a one of the holding CMs today, but we are better when Jack is in there in my opinion

Clear that both Lawrence and Tillman will be preferred over Kamara in that AM role

He has been awesome for us, but I feel his ceiling sell on value is now as I don’t feel he will play as often as he has this season as he played last season.

I know Gio has said our business is almost done, however I think if we can get Into the CL group stages, a lot of the above mentioned players will be off loaded on the cheap and atleast 1 other player signed given the financial boost (hopefully a striker) . This is pure gut with no claims of inside knowledge etc.

Also remember there's a new partnership in it's infancy between goldson and souttar getting formed and also will be with ben davies when he comes into the fold ?These things take time and patience so give them a chance and get behind the guys!

I was talking to Ross Wilson's brother in law yesterday and he says that he is still looking at players and is back in Scotland next week. Wilson stays in Huddersfield but travels all over looking at players and is in Scotland next week. I have no doubt he'll want players out the door but the guy is pretty active in recruitment right now.

I would retain Helander and Middleton as we need left footers. Middleton will be on low wages and can do a turn in a few positions. Helander should be allowed to get fit. Roofe, not sure, it would depend on whether the mental trouble rumours are true. Sakala, Katic, Simpson should be sold or released.
