Been told that Cavenagh and Stewart met with the players at the training ground yesterday and stressed that they were giving Russell Martin their full backing regardless of the result today.

Hoping someone can confirm this isn't true and that it was just an attempt to unite everyone ahead of today's game.

Today will be utterly toxic and fans will notably see and increased amount of security in and around the ground.

There is a possibility we sit bottom of the league today.
Nothing improving in the players or the team.
If the owners can't see we have a problem and the manger is sitting at the top of that list then we are doomed.
Only people who can be happy with Martin is who we are playing.

TrueBlue, I've not heard anything, but I think there is a good chance RM will remain in post no matter the result today. The board have said this isn't a short term fix and they are trying to clear out the old guard and RM has repeatedly talked about issues behind the scenes. I suspect there will have been tough conversations about results needing to improve, but they will give him time after the transfer window is closed to improve performances and results. Time will tell and I hope I'm wrong as I can't see how RM gets the fans or players back on side.

For me the biggest mistake our club has made is they have tried to overhaul the full squad in 1 window and it's been a complete disaster. Yet again we have overlooked the players that know our league and club inside out and are good enough to go sign players from English lower leagues with overinflated egos and wage demand. I would have been delighted with us signing shankland, mullins and Miller then going out and bringing in 2 or 3 quality players that we own. That would have given us a solid base to build a team and reduce the amount of pressure on the new guys.

True blue no information but perhaps that is what the players needed too happen. top be told by the new owners that Marin was staying and so they would need to play his way. if some were holding on thinking he would be gone they will now be in now doubt. all it needs now is the owners to tell the fans the same 😉.

I hope the info I've been given is wrong too.

For me, you need to judge him on a number of factors. The money that has been spent, the specific players he requested were signed and then the overall progress of playing style and results.

He's been backed heavily, more than any of our last managers. We haven't seen any kind of improvements in the style, we barely create anything yet give up goals so easily. The results are totally unacceptable.

The 49ers and Cavenagh highlight the importance of the fans, the customers in this "business". The product we as customers are getting is well below par and the customers in huge numbers are highlighting this.

They have 2 choices. Bury their heads in the sand, let it get worse and make it even harder to recover. Or take the sensible option, listen to the customers feedback and take action. If you can pay the guts of 8 million on a striker that doesn't score goals, you can certainly afford to cut your losses with a manager who makes things worse instead of improving things.

That is nonsense, no inside info at all. But owners would not be doing this at any football club. This would be totally negligent of the owners if true and something they know would eventually get leaked and then turn the fanbase against them.

Astute business men would never risk something like this.

Clear out the old guard what does that even mean? Looking at todays game Tav, Souttar, Barron and Diomande all played well, Butland had nothing to do . Who is he clearing out?
