In relation to the news broke by the Times last night concerning the overcharged tax, I feel there needs to be a public enquiry. What we're talking about is a Government Dept tasked with collecting tax effectively force a business into liquidation, leaving hundreds of businesses out of pocket, and who really knows how many jobs were lost as a result, we lost millions of pounds worth of players for nothing as they walked out the door. This is what should concern everybody, irrespective of what colours we wear.

Where are all the tax experts when you need them? At another tax experts convention?

I think you will find they are all over in the dark side, no doubt will crawl out soon.
Cheers Brian.

Surely as DEEB said our legal side would have asked for a breakdown of the exact tax bill Rangers owed come on its not rocket science something not right here as we all know we were set up and you won’t need to look too far for the culprits 🇬🇧.

Tinman
The revenue issued a breakdown of my pittance so I am sure they do the same for all. Someone looked at this at HMRC, RFC and our accountants and signed it off. Did they even look at it in detail.

if you were to remember we were fighting based on we didn't owe anything from a point of law. we were arguing what we did was legal and as such no TAX was owed whatsoever. also remember it wasnt the big tax bill that put us in admin it was a conceived plan of Mr White by not paying PAYE that forced us into admin. that said if the bill is 20M then for sure we would have survived, us bears and a few outside investor plowed 22M into Gers immediately after. really annoyed that if this didn't need to happen many other things wouldn't have followed ie placed in bottom tier, being ridiculed, begging for a licence, void of european nights, having to now spend money just to stop 10 in a row etc etc. disgusting and it cannot be swept under the carpet.

Exactly geesa . that’s why the plan might be to bring back the old co as DK suggests . and put in a heavy heavy claim for loss of earnings etc etc . I reckon about 150 mill should cover it.

We talk wanting breakdown of tax bill, remember Whyte bought our club so as to liquidate us, he had done in many time before.
Challenging what we owed would not have suited his agenda.
Remember Walter left because he was excluded from financial matters.

Good Morning Deeb and John25, I think the breakdown of tax demands and indeed any refunds due is a very valid point, and if acted upon properly at the time would have saved us all of this heartache, in my opinion.

All HMRC communications do provide a detailed breakdown of how charges and refunds are calculated, so, as has been stated it shouldn't be hard to identify who exactly was at fault at Rangers during that time for not querying these figures, and those are the people that should be worried at this time. I don't believe that it will impact much at all on the existing RIFC, unless there can be a direct link shown to the costs our current incumbents have had to pay due to what can possibly be shown to be professional failure by the Board in 2011.

Agree irvger my point is Hmrc would have sent breakdown, Whyte and his cohorts hid it for their own personal gain.
