I keep seeing people talk about Gerrard being a bigger draw than GVB. Sorry but who exactly are the big international players that we have that wouldn't have come without SG? I reckon Gio will be just as big a draw along with Europe. We might miss out on Skov but nice to hear us in the mix for players like this.

Goldson, Kent, Hagi, Aribo and Roofe all signed because it was Gerrard that was manager.

None of them were household names!

As sweep has called out under Gerrard we made a number of signings from reserve and youth players from other clubs. I suspect we’ll continue to unearth some gems within these Markets. If we can get champions league football under our belt we’ll start to compete with teams who play at that level. I’m sure Olsen is not the only right winger we are looking at.

Just the same as GVB will have better connections and understanding of dutch market. Himself and makaay are big pulls.

Also sweep hagi didn't have many offers. His club paid 8mill euros for him and sold him after a year for 3 mill.

It doesn't matter if they are household names it's 5 players that played a massive part in stopping Terry Munro and when they leave we will struggle to replace under our new bosman signing policy.

Sweep are u trying to say we couldn't get a Brighton reserve. A Liverpool u21 who had flopped on loan, a Romanian who was struggling at his old club an an injury prone forward who wanted to leave Anderlecht to return to UK and a league one midfielder. They've done great for us but don't tell me we couldn't have signed players like that without SG.

Defoe. Do you think he’d have come to rangers were it not for Gerrard? Do you think Coutinho would have signed for Villa had their previous manager still been there? Not a chance.

More positivity Sweep 😆.

Yup, Sweep is correct. We are doomed as a club without Gerard and can only hope to attract 4th rate players.

Even if that were true, I’d still support blue and would wake up positive thinking we are the greatest club in the world.

Not sure of sweeps motivation.

Maybe with gio, we'll sign some Dutch, Spanish or Belgians. Remember Stevie was more or less a one man club player. Gio played daily with Messi, Thierry Henry etc. He's a much higher calibre and profile than sg, so I wonder who'll sign? None of us expected souttar or sands a month ago. Never even heard of sands.

Come on sweep. Our new bosman strategy? The vast majority of SG signings were bosmans or loans. Gios only been in the door 2 mins and we're never going to spend tons in January.

Kaiser I'm saying exactly that all quoted when they signed Steven Gerrard was a main factor for signing. Ryan Kent, Goldson and Aribo would never have came up here if it wasn't for his influence. Roofe and Hagi both said Gerrard was a main reason behind them signing.

Posted this yesterday he didn't bring anyone in who was already a big name. We won't under gio as they cost too much. Players with potential will be who we go for.

Sweep I get some individual players wanting to play for him but that can be said for any manager. The idea that we couldn't attract the STANDARD of players without SG I just can't agree. If Souttar ends up being our biggest signing of the summer I'll put my hands up but I think Gio will be able to attract some quality too come the summer.

16.) 17 Jan 2022
17 Jan 2022 09:26:01
I don't think there's anyone in the squad that I'd say we couldn't have got someone of that quality without SG.

17.) 17 Jan 2022

55rangers probably apart from Roofe.

End of tbe day doesn't matter who the managers name is 99% of players will go to where who is offering more money and then if they will get more game time.

I think its the norm for players who have signed for a new club to talk up their new manager regardless of who they are. i'm sure we will hear new signings saying I signed because Gio impressed me so much.

Gerrard raised the profile of the club after the previous incumbents shambles.
Suddenly Rangers were big news again everywhere.
And that kind of profile, along with results on the pitch ( especially in Europe ) helps attract players and financial investors.
Gerrard has once again at Villa proven he is a big draw with the loan signing of Coutinho.
Gio in his own right will hopefully be an attractive draw for players he knows/ or who know him.
At the end of the day, Gerrard has left us in a better place than when he took over and Gio to his credit has improved us further this season so far with improved team and individual performances.

Totally agree 2 blue I to believe it's normal for new players to talk up manager.
When sg went to villa his interviews were near identical to the ones he made at rangers just the way it is. mangers do same talk about how good fan are😁.

17 Jan 2022 12:15:16
I think kent woukd have come up here with out SG had we went in for him. he couldn't get a game for Bristol at the time if his last loan so why would he not try Scotland.

23.) 17 Jan 2022
17 Jan 2022 12:24:36
Kaiser totally agree. Every player bought says his big incentive was the manager . This is at every club …
Non of these players you mentioned sweep knew anything about ger quality as a manager.
It’s gio all day long for me I’m afraid.

I sometimes wonder who writes posts GVB is nowhere near the same profile as Gerard. Gerard was possibly the greatest midfielder of his generation GVB wasnt even the greatest Dutchman of his time.

Unbeliever, remind me again, when did Gerrard captain his country in a World Cup final? Did he have any league winners medals, never mind in three different countries (two of them the best two leagues in the world)? GVB is easily the equal of Gerrard in profile and in achievements.
