Another topic while we psyche ourselves up for two cup finals in three days next week. What do any of you fellow Bears think of Gerrard's initial spell at Aston Villa. They are currently 11th, 23 points off a Champions League spot. Villa are a wealthy club. For me, it has been a mediocre start to his Villa management role. I've always felt his decision to jump ship and leave us mid-season harmed our title defence, even though Gio has performed miracles in getting us to two cup finals. Gerrard could have planned to leave us at the end of this season and join Villa during the summer. Thoughts?

For me he did what was asked of him and his heart wasn’t in it. The same desire wasn’t their.

I'd rather have gio as our manager, I don't blame him for not winning the league, morelos being called up by Columbia in January was a disaster for us, when he left we were 6 points clear when he returned we were 3 behind, also out for the rest season due to picking up a injury while away with Columbia, as for Gerrard he struggled all season with the form of players, not sure had he stayed we'd have won the league anyway.

Something clearly wasn't right from start of season, dunno if complacency after ease of last season or what but their was little heart or desire especially after Malmo. Maybe family situation made it hard but wanted a shot at champions league and when that went so was he. Thanks for the memories tho and excited for what to come. Gios doing amazing.

All speculation but my gut feel is if SG was still here, league may have still been lost as we were scraping games and wouldn't have a euro final. Gio an upgrade for me and I am delighted.

In terms of what he is doing at Villa, they are much stronger at the back- defensive record is top six material but imagine the same issues of trying to fit square pegs in round holes and not ever deviating from his system. Could only go so high as they had an awful start so 13th isn't terrible but genuinely can see him being a mid table manager and not being the standout he maybe thought he was.

In the managers office we have photos of every Rangers manager. The photo is put on the wall as the manager leaves, there’s a rumour which I was told on the Ibrox tour that his photo was put up at the start of the season. He was wanting away for a while I think. While I’ll acknowledge his achievements in a fond manner and I’m grateful for what he done I believe we’re in a better place with Gio leading us.

With Gerrard at the help would be on the cusp of a once in a life time cup final in europe. He was set in his ways and didn’t have the tactical nous to change it up during a match if things weren’t going our way. Gio has shown that he is more tactical than Gerrard already and he’s only been here six months.

Stuff going on behind the scenes he wasn't happy with. In the end everybody is entitled to move on. I've had my own business for 30 years and there is no such thing as loyalty nowadays. Doesn't matter how good you are to people, everybody looks after number one and that"s a sad fact. I will always wish Stevie well and hope he does well with Villa and wherever he goes. You just need to appreciate the basket case he inherited and what he left us with. Says it all for me.

Really not bothered but did he not take over at villa when they were 16th or 17th in the table?

On the original point of his villa job probably a B+. Hard taking over mid season and until has a summer difficult to judge but after initial buzz think big question over whether he can push them on to next level. At best they only ever going to be a mid table team as even after a poor season from most of top 6 they still miles ahead and will invest heavily and Newcastle will look to join them. Interesting to hear him saying last week his ambition is to make Villa like Gers and to use them for motivation.

If SG was still here we wouldn't be near the Europa League final. SG was far too stubborn to change tactics, far too predictable. There was clearly issues between SG and Morelos, The difference is there for all to see. SG won 55 and stopped the 10*, thanks but I'm glad he went to Villa. Gio is by a country mile an upgrade, his tactical awareness is head and shoulders above SG.

Thanks for the memories Stevie but we have a European Final to win. Left us midway for greener grass apparently 👀.

His 1st job has been achieved keeping Villa in the league now he'll need to make them more competitive and aim for a euro place but he'll be backed and I think will be successful.

Gerrard took over Villa in 16th and currently has them 11th.
He left us in first place, 6 points ahead, we are now 6 behind. A terrible run of tests under Gio saw to that.
Would we have won the league under Gerrard? Nobody knows.
Would we have reached the EL Final under Gerrard? Nobody knows but I doubt it given our initial results in the group.
For me it's all about the future under Gio.
I thanked Gerrard at the time he left for what he had done at the club.
I've no interest in what he will / won't achieve in his career.
It's all about The Rangers for me🔴⚪🔵.

Without a shadow of a doubt we were SG's first management job, and didn't have the experience of GVB. GVB has been around the block a few times and has gained experience which SG hasn't.

We thank SG for title 55 but for me and hopefully for the majority of fans it’s all about going forward under the current manager and back room team.

Top four? I'll take that bet Amorelos. Easiest money I'll ever make mate.
