Gutted with the result.
But totally proud of the achievement from the team in getting this far.
We just came up short and were beaten in the lottery of penalties.
The game itself?
Poor tactics and performances, individually and collectively let us down.
I don't think Tav or Goldson have played as bad in ages.
How many long balls did Goldson waste? 8, 9,10?
The midfield collectively was non-existent with a huge space in the middle. Only filled ( IMO ) when Davis appeared on the field.
I can't remember once thinking we have a foothold in this match.
Front 3 ( thankless task in the heat ) continually lost the ball.
Huge ( and terrible ) miss from Kent to win the match.
Poor ( and terrible ) penalty from Ramsey in the shootout.
Standout player? Bassey.
But we win and lose as a team.
Everyone playing a part in the route to the final.
Over the last few seasons we have shown we belong at the top end of the EL.
It's now up to the manager and players to prove we have the ability for the next step up - CL.
First though we have a Scottish Cup Final to win.
Which would be a fitting end to a season that once promised so much.
Nobody said it was ever easy being a football fan.

I was worried about the 34 degree heat for most of the build up and feel it played a part in both sides performance.

The heat definitely played a massive part. But games like that you don't expect your vice captain and captain to be 2 worst players on the park.

I would t say poor ta tics from Gio, when we had the ball they reverted to a 5-4-1 and cut of anything down the wings. They were a very decent side and nullified our attacks. The 5 across the back let them stick closer to Tav and Kent, hence the wasted long balls from Goldson. Ryan Kent’s miss was just unlucky, he burst a gut to get there and got a shot on target under pressure from the defender. The keeper threw a leg out and got lucky. No one has yet mentioned how lucky we were with our goal. We’re all hurting but I won’t criticise anyones effort last nigh, we forced a very good side to penalties and lost on the lottery that followed.

Tactics were fine maybe looking back Gio may think he used his subs a bit late. Ryan Jack really struggled and I wonder if he was actually fit enough to play. Scott Wright was out on his feet and should've maybe been replaced when we had the 1-0 lead. But not going go down the negative way as we done great getting to this final.

And Hargreaves’s said he’d burst a gut in extra time to get there, got a good connection under pressure from the defender, got his shot on target and was denied by a brilliant save. That’s good enough for me.

It’s just whatever way you look at it I suppose. When macgregor makes a save, as he’s done many times in this competition, I didn’t hear super ally saying the player should have scored. It’s a brilliant save by macgregor and the striker done everything right but it was a world class save etc etc. when it’s another keeper that does though then the striker should have scored. It wasn’t as if he was through one on one with the keeper, it was a split second passage of play. Can’t have it both ways.

Ph Alloa sweep excellent posts. We need to accept that EF had done homework and shut down any space.
Re Ryan Jack for me it was a real blow when he had to go off.
We 100% need our players fit, we know so many over a season Can’t play 90 minutes ie Balogun Jack Roofe helander Ramsey Davis A few can’t play two games in a row
Add in serious injury to Hagi and Morelos it all has an impact
We really need to address this and make some hard decisions re guys like Jack Davis helander.
We have seen glimpses off young lads who look to have a great future.
I know some say if only fit Jack is a first pick, I respect that but same re Roofe Ramsey et al.
I wrote last summer we had to freshen menu, it is critical that happens this window

I was really disappointed with kent contribution last night
Goldson for ball watching for there goal as the ball was coming across from his left he was already looking for Bassey when he should have went or Atleast attempted to go for the ball himself was shocking defending by him

All in all it was some journey and gutted is not the word
Ramsay walked up thinking he was the big player his penalty was bloody awfull no heart or determination in it at all.

I can't really criticise any of our players other than Ramsay. From what I saw they all ran their heart out in very high temperatures. problem was that we simply didn't have the quality in reserve on the subs bench to really make a difference and that is not the players fault.
We missed Morelos, we missed not having Roofe on from the start.
Gio was wrong to put Ramsay on for the penalties, he was a massive failure with one of the worst penalty kicks I have seen. He was a bad acquisition, never fully fit and for me the Board needs to do significantly more in terms of supporting Gio than they did in January and we should be signing the players that he and his management team want!
