Hello My Fellow Bears,

I have to say I'm absolutely speechless at the cynicism aimed at the board regarding transfers etc by some posters on here.

Nothing like keeping the faith and having a bit of trust.

Look at how our great institution has grown over past 4 years. Off field we haven't been in such a fantastic place as a club ever in terms of marketing, sponsorship and growth.

On the pitch we just reached a European Final, won a Scottish Cup and now are seeing emerging talents coming through our ranks i. e Lowry, King, Patterson (sold for a record fee)

Things are going the correct way. We are operating at a high level both financially and on the pitch.

Some crying we are standing still smh ? look at the bigger picture for once in your life.

Yes its been quiet in terms of transfers in but like someone posted there is 64 DAYS LEFT, 64! Of current window, this is real life not Football Manager.

Transfers will happen in/ out. Our club will continue to grow on/ off field. So calm it down guys. Go enjoy the sun, get outdoors.

Trust the Board, trust our players and trust our manager .

FOLLOW WE WILL.

Spot on with the post the board have plenty time left till the end of the window obviously we would have all liked players in early but they will have a plan in place.
I just hope it involves getting 3 4 forward thinking players in the team cause that's what wee need to get more goals and assists from midfield and wingers
I can also see us involving a lot more of our young players in the new season ahead so maybe gio wants to see some these players in pre season then make final decisions on them.

I think most of the frustrations are based around the last two windows being disastrous. We might have 64 days to go but the biggest game of the season is on 34 days time and we need players to trained with their new team before then. We can not go into the champions league qualifiers underprepared like last year. If we don’t sign quality first team players will lower our chances of qualifying. Anybody who expects the board to throw away their money is crazy but we’re not being unreasonable asking the board to reinvest some of that ‘high level both financially’ that you’ve called out. If we don’t buy quality and lose the champions league play offs then that’s on the board and them alone.

Many on here wondering if we have money available to purchase players and if so why there are no new signings so far. I have completed a very rough estimate on the profit for this year (excluding loan and share issue income) . The figure I have come up with is a profit of £18.6m. I do not have access to many figures so this is a best estimate based on information available and rough estimates.

There are director loans to be repaid but these do not have to be paid this year. Do the board retain the profit and repay the loans, or invest in new players utilizing the £18.6m? Also there were exceptional revenues from the Europa League run to the final but such things cannot be guaranteed for the coming year, so is it prudent to retain some or all of the £18.6m and rely on player sales to invest in new signings? £18.6m may sound like a lot of money but in reality it is not. I think we have the money to buy one or two players without selling first but a player sale or two would be great and its the way forward.

Signings will come but patience is needed. I still feel we have a much better squad than Celtic and will win the title. Gio came in mid season remember. Now he will have a full pre-season and know his squad well from last season.

Too many folk on here with views on how much we should be spending though without the foggiest of the finances of the club. I trust that the board won’t withhold available money for Gio just to hack him off. He’ll get what we can afford and if he wants more then he’ll have to sell.

Most people have a fair understanding of the finances Alloa, if we were debt free when the board sold Patterson then we have money to spend. Obviously if we weren’t debt free (and I’m not suggesting the board lied) then we don’t have much money to spend. Again, just to be clear, we shouldn’t spend what we don’t have but if we have £12m from Patterson, £4m from Gerrard and £18M+ from the euro run, then we should have money for 3+ players.

John what loans have to be repaid that 2 blue has mentioned?

Also guys the frustration is coming from the last few windows where we have stood still and we lost the league because of it.

Jking have you taken Celtic’s recent additions into consideration when you say you are confident we have the better squad and have you seen these new additions in action because if not can't see how you can be confident.

Storm there are two loans totalling approx 7 million. I think this was money originally I’d in the last accounts.
Both directors were to be paid 5% interest.
These loans are to be paid over next five years as directors were in no hut
Should see update in next accounts.

I would disagree we have a much better squad than them. Think people are becoming concerned with our lack of transfer business (and rightly so) given the underwhelming last 2 windows which allowed them to catch up and ultimately win the league.

Dado

Hate to point out the obvious but there is a difference between debt and losses.

If we don’t cover our operating losses (there may not be any after the Europe run) then we will incur debts that have to be repaid somehow.

The club has well publicised losses for many years that have been covered by the directors soft loans and then converted to equity BUT we must move to a sustainable model.

18m in player sales is not the same as profit.

Of course I could be way off and the board might just be spending the clubs money on fast cars, fast girls and caviar.

I think it was John25 who stated recently that we have to be careful now as a Club, as Uefa have amended the FFP rules recently. We should be aiming for self-sufficiency, and to do that we need to have European Runs, which will require us to speculate to accumulate on the Playing side, but also to ensure we don't over spend without releasing deadwood.
