With the amount of teams reportedly eyeing bassey up it looks more likely he will be gone, I personally think this will be a bigger loss than if we lost another player. I also think the time to sell him is this window with his stock being so high, I'm not going to say we should sell him at this price or that price as a players value is only worth what the board accept for any player, I really hope there is a sell on clause of at least 20% as I really think in few years time this boy will be at a very top club. For the £300,000 we paid for him to the money that's getting fired about for him we would be silly not to sell. In saying that if the big man signed a new contract that would be amazing.

Deem good post. No chance him signing new deal, we could not pay the wages he is worth.

A strong performance this year, get champions league experience and hopefully another good run in Europe will increase his stock so no issue keeping him and waiting until next summer but we’d need to extend his deal to guarantee we enter negotiations in strong position. I do think he is going this summer unfortunately, anything £25m and above he is gone. Read he is apparently in London speaking to clubs, not sure if true. When squad is confirmed for Blackpool game it will probably confirm this.

No doubt this is the window to sell bassey, his performances in europa league games dramatically increased his value, if we did keep him which now looks highly unlikely and he played poorly his value would drop, i'd love the spl transfer record broken with this sale.

When will people start to understand that it’s completely irrelevant what we paid for Bassey when valuing him now! Irrelevant!

Yes if we paid £10m then we sell for £8m it has a neg effect. But because we got him for penny’s doesn’t mean you do other clubs a favour!

You max your profit especially if the demand is real and 8/ 9 clubs are after him.

The money increases, we have 2 years on a contract we are not under pressure.

If he goes for less than 25m it’s a massive massive failure.

So far the window is avg. and we don’t look like a team keen on qualifying CL!

Q the laughter because I don’t agree with most…. Ed 1 stay calm because I ain’t shouting! No childish behaviour either.

I am gutted that he’s most likely going as he’s a quality lad and a very strong player. Our squad has needed a turnover though and also needed a couple of big sales to get the model going. The money helps us massively although it weakens us in short term with qualifiers coming up soon. I don’t think it’s enough Time to get all the new signings bedded in properly.

I think we should have taken the same decision with Kent Morelos And a few others after the, 55.
Their stock was high then, but went backwards since.
Sell high, buy low.

I don't get business! ? I’ve got a family business mate been retailing for over 40 years!

Once again I ain’t shouting at anyone maybe should try reading in a different manner! I’m writing in a perfectly calm manner, if you were in front of me it would be a light mature conversation John25.

I like your posts John25 I have no problem with you but you certainly can’t hack it if people don’t kiss your backside mate.

This ain’t The John25 chat room.

I’m certainly open to being wrong have admitted plenty of times.

For the record there are many ways to skin a cat. Business can be done in several ways. I don’t like what I’m seeing. I honestly think we are short falling on money being brought in. Our record at selling is just short of abysmal over the years! Yes it’s certainly getting better. But Bassey is a big test!

Don’t disagree John25 but it can be more. We sell ourselves short nearly evry time.

I don’t understand your jealousy comment (? )

Bassey loosing 5m or more in a sale is a massive failure! Yes!

16 Jul 2022 15:25:05
GDog if you have run a business for 40 years surely you have had rough patches? Or had to shake things up and diversify to survive? That's exactly what happened to us. Things are improving and we have incredible assets, a great squad, emerging talent and great coaches and rangers people who care about the club calling the shots - that's an incredible turnaround considering where we were? We have intent and we are progressing. Maybe wait until Bassey is sold before lining up to criticise the board.

Great stuff Trueblue!

Yes spot on definitely trouble times many of them.

Yes also spot on about he ain’t sold yet. I understand that and have said that few times mate.

I do trust Gio and coaches. I’m not too sure about Wilson when it comes to cutting a deal.

Watched Tillman for what it’s worth that lad could be a real player I actually think he’s the Aribo replacement. Looks more composed than big Joe. I think Bazza said he’s like Loftus Cheek…. I can see that, he’s a rolls Royce.

23.) 16 Jul 2022

I remember when we got Wilson, Southampton a lot of Southampton fans said he was good when it came to selling and getting the best deal and they criticised some of his recruitment. I'm really impressed by him - he's not flashy and seems to have a great plan.

Agree re. Tillman. I have only seen a few snippets, but interesting to see a lot of ex-pros say he's a great player and could be massive for us. I'm really excited with the direction we are taking.
