John, last day. What’s the scoop?

AlloaGer

1.) 31 Aug 2021 08:27:43
Nothing yet Alloa. Gerrard apparently wants to keep squad top heavy. Ie Kelly Arfield mb itten.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 09:25:47
We're going to need them but I'd have tried a couple of loans out with options to recall if that's do able keeps them fresh with other teams picking up some wages.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 09:48:40
I would prefer if we moved Itten and Barker out since I don't see either of them being a game changer for us. Would like to see us bring in one quality player, possibly on a loan to buy basis, either a striker or a winger.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 10:24:33
Agree with Berkshire should move Itten and Barker on and replace with one quality player but i guess if nobody wants them we are stuck with it. i'm sure Gerrard would love to bring in a couple of quality additions and move one or two out but unless there is an offer coming in for one of our players we don't have the money to make changes. No idea why we bought Itten in the first place and that goes for Lundstum too.

5.) 31 Aug 2021 10:38:08
I think barker a certain to go.

6.) 31 Aug 2021 11:20:35
Yes we need rid of Barker, as its a rumours page anyone heard Troy Deeney being mentioned as i seen a couple of snippets recently and he left Watford yesterday?

7.) 31 Aug 2021 11:27:19
Berkshire i actually still fancy itten, he's never had a run and is a team player when on, granted he's not a prolific scorer, however I'm not gutted when i see his name, just my opinion, barker, he's had his chance and i'm sure we all wish him well in the rest if his career.

8.) 31 Aug 2021 11:29:03
Agree John, expect Barker to go on loan although think Itten will stay. Hearing mixed things about Kelly and Arfield.

9.) 31 Aug 2021 11:31:10
Well John the clock is ticking all will be revealed in a few hours time!

10.) 31 Aug 2021 11:53:11
Deemed signed for Birmingham Gregory.

11.) 31 Aug 2021 12:12:59
Deeney signed for Birmingham (Gregory )
Yesterday after some wild rumours lol.

30 Aug 2021 11:04:00
John, as someone in the know. What’s the latest on outgoings/ incomings before the window closes?

AlloaGer

1.) 30 Aug 2021 11:29:05
I was just about to ask John if he had heard anything today 😂.

2.) 30 Aug 2021 12:07:11
Post down below your guys questions.

3.) 30 Aug 2021 12:33:44
Seen it after I commented John should have scrolled 1st.

4.) 30 Aug 2021 13:12:38
John25 is the Guru of all things transfer related on here.
Forget Rangersnewsniw, Glasgow Live etc.
I don't believe anything until he's giving us the heads up!

5.) 30 Aug 2021 13:35:52
Sorry John I hadn’t scrolled. Hopefully make some decent money on Borna. He’s been a great signing for us.

6.) 30 Aug 2021 13:52:46
Spot on MPH, if he ain't said it, it ain't happening.
Keep the news coming John, and thanks for taking the time to keep us reliably informed.

As much as Frankfurt’s league form has been honking (10 wins from 33 games and haven’t won any of their last 5), they’ll be thinking if we win this game we have champions league football and they’re sitting 12th in the league!
I’m not overly confident or underestimating them, we need to be at our best to win, but I genuinely don’t think we’ll ever have a better chance of a European trophy than this.

AlloaGer

1.) 09 May 2022 21:09:16
Maybe they struggle with the way German teams play? Anyway German teams seem to struggle with the way we play! Long may it continue.

2.) 09 May 2022 21:32:02
Lads. If we play our A game then there's nothing to worry about.

3.) 09 May 2022 21:35:31
They’ve beaten Barcelona and Westham away from home mate, they’re a very good team but as I’ve said a few times on here during previous rounds, the game is winnable if we play our game and at its best.

4.) 09 May 2022 21:46:07
Barrowlad not long may it continue, if it continues for just one more game I’ll be delighted.

24 Apr 2022 21:25:15
Even if Everton don’t go down, with Patterson out of favour where does he go from there? Would we get him back on the cheap?

AlloaGer

1.) 24 Apr 2022 22:42:28
Not much point to come back and sit on our bench again?

2.) 24 Apr 2022 23:04:37
If it was a loan then i'd be all for it. but buying him back would cost a good few million which could be spent on someone better.

3.) 24 Apr 2022 23:16:08
doubt we'd get him back permanently but i could see him coming back on loan for a year or 2 tbh.

4.) 25 Apr 2022 06:34:58
We don’t need any more players who sit on the bench, we need starters. Both Gerrard and gio prefer tavernier.

5.) 25 Apr 2022 06:41:53
He chose to go. I wish him all the best.

6.) 25 Apr 2022 07:00:03
Also Paterson will get more game time in championship as they offload big earners.

7.) 25 Apr 2022 07:36:58
Also, there would. more than likely be a new manager in place, who may rate Patterson more highly than Mr Lampard does.

8.) 25 Apr 2022 07:47:19
Probably wouldn't be the worst for him personally if they went down. Surely he'd be a certain starter. Lampard has had a mare there especially using Kenny ahead of him.

15 Apr 2022 19:20:51
Question for you guys/ girls, barisic or bassey? For me, bassey is better in a flat back 4 but if we’re playing wingbacks it has to be barisic.

AlloaGer

1.) 15 Apr 2022 20:13:01
I'm a big fan of borna so as much as i rate and like bassey it would be borna barisic for me👍You make a very good point though AlloaGer regarding who's best in different formations 👍 There's no player in the scottish game that can cross a ball like borna 👌He has a wicked left peg 👌 He's been outstanding in our last 2 games against st. mirren and braga for me 👌 However i also understand that big bassey is our future 👍If we're playing our full backs higher up the park to create our width its barisic all day long 👍.

2.) 15 Apr 2022 20:18:45
Borna maybe injured boy heard an update.

3.) 15 Apr 2022 21:07:26
Both Bassey and Barasic started v Braga so maybe they both need to be in the starting 11.

4.) 15 Apr 2022 21:50:58
Let’s be honest, Big Bassey has came on a tonne this season and has arguably been one of our best players but for me he is nowhere near a Borna at his very best. He only came into the team at left back because Borna was way off the pace. Borna was inured during the summer but stil went to the Euros and this resulted in him really struggling for good form for us, which in turn lead to a lack of confidence. It would seem the time out to get his head cleared and focus on getting himself back into form has done him good.

Yes they are a bit different, Bassey prob more sound defensively and a bit more pace but Borna is so much more of a threat from the wide areas and given we rely so much on our full backs to supply the crosses, having Borna back at the levels he was at previously will be great for us.

13 Apr 2022 22:42:13
Regarding a chat further down on banter 2 page, do those that think Sakala is a success believe he should be a first team starter? I really like the guy and I love his attitude but apart from pace I genuinely don’t see what he brings to the team. He doesn’t appear to be too skilful and doesn’t appear composed either. I wouldn’t say he was a particularly good finisher. I hope I’m wrong but on current form I think we need better to move the club forward.

AlloaGer

1.) 13 Apr 2022 22:52:54
He's young and still has a lot to learn! And he's shown glimpses of what he can achieve!

2.) 13 Apr 2022 23:26:56
I like sakala. Love his energy and enthusiasm but I'm really not sure if he's what we need. Hope he can be coached into a gem though.

3.) 13 Apr 2022 23:40:08
Ramsay hit the bar from the goal line last sunday so sitters get missed. but sakala is a squaddie . that and only that for now until he starts hitting the net. we need Kent to step up tomorrow imo.

4.) 13 Apr 2022 23:48:42
Not sure on Sakala, He has good pace but not OMG WTF pace just quick. He is a raw product that needs coached as he is strong, fit and robust with a Olympic leap and good shot. that's what Rangers seen and hoped that we would have improved him, so let's see, one more season.

5.) 14 Apr 2022 00:09:17
He doesn't need to be a first team starter to be a success tho. We need a squad who can all contribute, 10 goals from I think it's 14 starts is a decent contribution imo.

6.) 14 Apr 2022 04:59:45
At this moment in time for me sakala is a squad player and good to bring on when the game is stretched and the opposition tired🤔He has tremendous pace but can be very eratic and snatches a lot when shooting 🤔 He also plays with his head down a lot but here's hoping this rough diamond can be polished off into the finished article 🙏So at the moment, not a first team starter for me 🤔.

7.) 14 Apr 2022 06:31:36
He hasn’t got a good shot the boy needs to learn how to strike a ball properly every cross or shot is scuffed.

8.) 14 Apr 2022 07:13:58
Yip stormtrooper because if you actually watch sakala whether its shooting or crossing, he has his head down a lot of the time and snatches 🤔.

9.) 14 Apr 2022 07:25:21
Not of the required standard and never will be 🇬🇧🇬🇧.

10.) 14 Apr 2022 08:47:02
Gregory, short, to the point and 100 percent correct.

11.) 14 Apr 2022 08:51:11
Think he's pretty poor will only ever bit a bit part player. Not required standard.

12.) 14 Apr 2022 09:21:46
Think he's done ok this season nothing more, we need to see more from him next season, with morelos out for the rest of the season he'll get a lot more game time this season.

13.) 14 Apr 2022 10:21:55
Correct, HWG55.
Not every player can be in the first 11.
It's all about there contribution to the team.
Sakala - 10 goals, 2 assists from 15 starts. Success.

14.) 14 Apr 2022 10:37:46
its all good saying he has 10 goals and 2 assists from 15 starts but how many of those goals/ assists have came in games where he has started and how many has he scored in the 25 games he's came off the bench.

15.) 14 Apr 2022 12:20:59
100% coops I don’t know how he made as a footballer when he can’t strike it properly 😂.

16.) 14 Apr 2022 12:23:04
I've always supported Sakala, but, I thought he showed me last Sunday, that he's not what we need, he has no end product or threat, he has pace yes, but that's not enough.

17.) 14 Apr 2022 14:59:29
Sakala’s contribution, Gunn1872. All about opinions.
Started against Motherwell and scored.
Started against Motherwell and scored 3.
Came on as a sub against Livi and scored.
Came on as a sub against Hearts and scored.
Started against Motherwell and scored.
Started against Stirling Albion and scored.
Started against Annan and scored.
Came on as a sub against Dundee and scored.
Assist against Aberdeen after coming on as a sub.
Assist against Hearts after coming on as a sub.
He’s contributed in 10 separate games.
That’s not bad for a “squad” player.
A goal every 173 minutes played.
Who’s competing against Morelos ( 19 goals, 8 assists ) and Roofe ( 15 goals ) to play up front.
Or competing against Aribo ( 8 goals, 8 assists ) and Kent ( 3 goals, 17 assists ) out wide.
He’s our 4th top goal scorer this season.
But he has his flaws.
It’s why we got him on a free.
Plenty of energy and enthusiasm.
But composure in front of goal and crossing from out wide can be improved.

18.) 14 Apr 2022 15:25:46
As u say ph he makes a contribution, we can’t have 30k players all through the squad . For me it’s about finding a balance in terms of what u want them to bring to the team and squad.

19.) 14 Apr 2022 17:03:27
100% mph and John. Very fair and balanced post sgain mph 👏 ino he is very raw but has definately contributed to our season.

20 Mar 2022 19:46:53
Can’t believe that’s the same Joe Worrall that played with us. He’s been immense tonight.

AlloaGer

1.) 20 Mar 2022 20:14:40
glad we helped make him a better defender.

2.) 20 Mar 2022 22:23:00
He always was a good player tbh.

3.) 21 Mar 2022 00:13:18
He was seeker, was just prone to daft lapses. Was only a kid when on loan at us tho he was slways going to develop into a decent player.

Footballers have a short career. I wouldn’t criticise them for not wanting to spend 4yrs of that career in the lower leagues, with no guarantee the club would survive, on way less wages than they could command elsewhere. Sone fans can’t understand why they would leave but if it was their career and lives….

For me rangers and Celtic fans see our clubs as being more attractive than they are viewed from other countries. How many players have we had that have said they didn’t realise just how big a club we are u til they actually came and played for us. That’s because we play in a relatively poor league. I also happen to think Gerrard is a bigger pull for players than Gio, but that’s life and it shouldn’t stop us being able to attract exciting young talent.

It’s just whatever way you look at it I suppose. When macgregor makes a save, as he’s done many times in this competition, I didn’t hear super ally saying the player should have scored. It’s a brilliant save by macgregor and the striker done everything right but it was a world class save etc etc. when it’s another keeper that does though then the striker should have scored. It wasn’t as if he was through one on one with the keeper, it was a split second passage of play. Can’t have it both ways.

And Hargreaves’s said he’d burst a gut in extra time to get there, got a good connection under pressure from the defender, got his shot on target and was denied by a brilliant save. That’s good enough for me.

Only in Scotland and our fickle fans would see Gerri g to a European final with a fraction of the budget and winning the Scottish cup, whilst changing manager half way through the season, as a failure.

Correct John, utter nonsense expecting someone to take a penalty because they’re a winger and cost £7m. It’s whoever is confident that takes them. And as much as I feel sorry for sakala, without the benefit of hindsight, would anyone seriously have wanted sakala to take a penalty before Ramsey? Not a chance! And regarding Goldson, he was a yard out of position, mistakes happen. If we didn’t make mistakes no team would ever score against us. I think they’d have a lot more to moan about at conceding our goal than we would at theirs!
