Heard a couple of times recently about us going for Martin Boyle despite Hibs having first refusal, not sure how I feel about it but he does know the league and ripped it up, and I'm dying for a RW. What's everyone's thoughts?

Bazbear72

1.) 02 Jul 2022 09:36:32
No thanks.

2.) 02 Jul 2022 10:10:10
Must aim higher than that. Scott Wright is better than Boyle.

3.) 02 Jul 2022 10:16:36
Excellent choice if we start up a Diving Team.

4.) 02 Jul 2022 10:29:47
Depends. He's 28 great stats for Hibs 47 in 187 for a winger is off the charts! but not for 2million. If we could get him for half a million then he'd be a sensible option.

5.) 02 Jul 2022 11:16:57
I totally agree Herewego55 that scott wright is better than martin boyle ?I honestly think wright could surprise a lot of our supporters under the guidance of gio and our management team, there's a talented player there ?.

6.) 02 Jul 2022 11:18:25
We ain’t signing him no where near good enough and he has said he isn’t leaving where he is.

7.) 02 Jul 2022 11:22:14
Agree about Wright. Think he will be a big player for us next season.

8.) 02 Jul 2022 11:35:52
I wouldn’t be 100% against Boyle. Cracking player absolutely lightening and very direct I’d rather take a chance in him knowing what he can do than end up with another diallo.

9.) 02 Jul 2022 12:04:23
Scott Wright certainly deserves his chance, he basically had 9 starts this season with 4 goals and an assist.

If he got consistent game time I'm sure he would perform.

10.) 02 Jul 2022 12:17:59
We have made enquiries about Boyle. Not sure if its went much further but i do know we have an interest.

11.) 02 Jul 2022 12:35:08
Agree re Scott Wright guys. He was always a good player, but hampered by injuries at Aberdeen. Thought he was outstanding in the SC final. I'd like to see him hit the road running at the start of the season.

12.) 02 Jul 2022 13:07:12
Wright is a better option than Boyle at £2m but he needs to stay fit and develop.

13.) 02 Jul 2022 13:38:14
Yeh, agree with most that's getting said, I've always like Wright and I know Mcinness was very positive about him, fair points.

14.) 02 Jul 2022 14:08:30
I like Scott Wright and think he could develop but Boyles stats are off the page compared to Wrights.

15.) 02 Jul 2022 14:48:16
We’re all talking as if Scott Wright a wee boy with his development. He’s 25. Like it or not he’s not good enough for rangers.

16.) 02 Jul 2022 15:33:07
I agree galston but he did have the odd good game last season fine for back up but we need better than him and Boyle.

17.) 02 jul 2022 15:48:35
boyle is a very good player, but that diving is cheating, although we have all celebrated the occasional bit of good fortune and even a self inflicted trip or two, he seems to be very accomplished at it,

18.) 02 Jul 2022 16:09:31
Not a guaranteed starter galston loyal but every time needs a squad and wright is a good option from bench. Always lively when he gets a chance. I'd much rather have him than Martin Boyle.

19.) 02 Jul 2022 16:59:46
The aim of any transfer window is to make improvements to the team bringing in players like Boyle isn’t improving the team.

20.) 02 Jul 2022 17:55:21
I honestly think Scott Wright has a lot in his locker, if he can work on his decision making / final ball he can be a great player for us, I actually felt he looked stronger and more confident towards the end of the season, he has pace to burn and can glide past players like they aren't there, he can be very tricky and a great out ball, I honestly believe a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised this year, I seen a big change in him since Gio came in his physical side is has grown and he isn't shy in tracking back.

21.) 02 Jul 2022 17:57:36
We would be better of with Susan Boyle.

22.) 02 Jul 2022 20:15:19
Fantastic lithium ???.

Ross Wilson being getting a wee bit of a hard time recently, but I'm a fan. Think he's great at his actual job and looking forward to seeing how Beale can make a few play better. Thinking Matondo, Tillman then along with Lawrence coming back, think a few of signings while RW at the helm will come good.

Bazbear72

1.) 14 Dec 2022 20:14:11
Agreed, I think we're lucky to have him, although I get the impression that this is not a popular opinion.

2.) 14 Dec 2022 20:59:49
Dont agree Baz not convinced by Tillman sure he did well in a friendly game but far from impressive in previous matches. Matondo not cutting it for me, lots of pace but lacking in other areas.?

3.) 14 Dec 2022 22:13:02
I think Matondo could prove a good player the way he will be playing now.

4.) 14 Dec 2022 22:35:26
If Tillman was scottish and came from the academy everyone would love him. He’s only 20 years old and has been said by gio, beale and players what a talent he is. Why so many aren’t convinced by him I have no idea.

5.) 14 Dec 2022 22:40:03
If Tillman was Scottish and came through the academy everyone would love him. He’s only 20 years old and has been said to be a great talent by gio, beale and players. no idea why so many aren’t convinced by him I hope rangers keep him.

6.) 14 Dec 2022 22:42:42
Fair enuf 2blue, can't agree about Tilman tho. I think he's class and so does Beale whose certainly a better judge of a player than me. I think his languid style fools people into thinking he's lazy or uninterested but not for me, aribo could be the same at points. Let's wait and see and if he turns out to be pants I'll be back on here to say you were right, I'm a fair man.

7.) 14 Dec 2022 22:44:26
Ross Wilson's job involves a lot more than 1st team recruitment.

8.) 14 Dec 2022 22:45:04
As for Matondo, I've got to think there's something there, we got h8m for nothing and he went for 10+m b4, so in terms of a buy, it was a clever deal by RW, in my opinion.

9.) 14 Dec 2022 23:41:41
Not seen a £10m player in that jersey so far but let’s give him a little more time to prove he’s worth it.

10.) 14 Dec 2022 23:58:16
I think Tillman and Matondo will flourish under Beale. Style of football that suits their skills.

30 Nov 2022 10:21:44
Now that it's a done deal, on reflection I'm fairly positive, a lot of chat about him just being a great coach but I think that's exactly what we need. There's loads of people managing the club, what we need is someone to motivate and train the players and fire them up. Think he'll get the best out of some under performers and everyone I've heard talk about him are raving. Things like best coach I've ever worked with and genius are not standard complements so the guys obviously talented. Love that he's promoted lovelace as I've been shouting for that for a while. He's probably got a free hit for 6 months due to us being so far behind in the league and out of Europe and listening to everyone on here, I think we just want attractive football to watch rather than beating everyone 5-0 every week, though I'll take both.

Bazbear72

1.) 30 Nov 2022 14:22:18
Good post bazbear spot on mate.

2.) 30 Nov 2022 20:18:07
This guy can do it and I'm sure of it.

22 Nov 2022 17:07:45
One thing for sure for me is that whatever criticism of Ross Wilson, the whole idea of a D of Football is to provide continuity and however its seemed from the terraces, he is a top D of F and well respected, especially in UK. I think he'll have a half decent list of good names that are interested in this huge job. If that person comes in and either doesn't perform or the players don't perform (last few months) then I find it hard to blame him TBH. I think we're all aware that Mick Beale was the brains behind the Stevie G era, with good experience abroad too, think it was Brazil.
Little conspiracy theory here, he's got a good relationship with Morelos and especially Kent, wonder if he came in and they signed new deals, would he effectively be making the club between 10 and 20m bearing in mind they can leave for next to nothing in a month or so. ? I'm open to people saying that they're worth next to nothing ??.

Bazbear72

1.) 22 Nov 2022 18:21:42
Baz think if Beale comes in the dynamic on resigning Alf and kent May change.

Him and Morelos were very close. They could communicate.

2.) 22 Nov 2022 18:37:48
At the moment you would receive nothing for Morelos in fact you may have to pay someone to take him of your hands ?.

3.) 22 Nov 2022 20:28:15
John does beale speak Spanish like? Gio spoke Spanish and could communicate with the fat man, what makes you think beale can communicate with him better than gio did.

4.) 22 Nov 2022 21:02:18
Wouldn't get anymore than 5 million for either of them even with new contracts.

5.) 22 Nov 2022 21:37:42
Because they done it regularly when Beale was here. Eating out constantly engaging with each other.

Communicating is not just talking the same language, it’s how u get through to someone, works out what makes them tick, talking to his wife, buying his kid presents. Alf felt wanted by Beale

Also unlikely Beale spoke better Spanish than Beale as he spoke Portugal., although extremely similar,
Don’t be kidded Alf speaks English when it suits him

Sweep if they have new contracts and get back to what they did best they become assets on the park.

6.) 23 Nov 2022 09:16:08
Good point all,
John, that's my point. Beale close to Kent from Liverpool days and even in recent interview was full of praise for Morelos. Not sure who you're saying speaks Portuguese, is it Beale because of his time in Brazil. If so then I agree, similar language to Spanish. Also agree that if they're signed up their value goes up quite a bit. It's moneyyball now, an equation based on years left and stats. Morelos goals in Europe alone would get us over 10m if he was signed up for a few years.

22 Nov 2022 14:24:29
Well well well, I was only posting the other night that it looked like the board were sticking with Gio and hey presto he gets the bullet the next day so I should get the sack too. Interesting times ahead.

Bazbear72

1.) 22 Nov 2022 14:44:10
We cannot give you the sack Baz but here's a nice wee man bag instead ?.

2.) 22 Nov 2022 15:41:16
Baz cool, and I had same view as u.

3.) 22 Nov 2022 16:16:25
I thought gio was staying too baz so I'm in the same boat as you.

4.) 22 Nov 2022 18:30:26
Baz davie, it was a big boat, although many have jumped off.

20 Nov 2022 17:39:05
Hoping the break gives us a chance to reset, get some players back, put the champs league disaster behind us and get on. Thought we looked good against Aberdeen in a tricky tie so there's something there. Not been a lot of options on the bench of late but ot looks like the board are prepared to stick for now. I'm not keen on the continual manager changing so I feel it could be the wise decision. A bit more bite and passion and we've got makings of a team for me. Think Tilmans a player and still young, get Lawrence back in with goldson and a bit stronger down the middle. Every gers fan in the world is crying put for a right winger since canseias left so no idea why we don't get one, think with an out an out RW, there's options with tav overlapping. I would love to see lovelace promoted and given a shout and when hagi back and Lowry coming through, there's more attacking options at no cost. I'm going to support them whatever happens and I have no inside knowledge but the accounts are decent and will be again this year but you can't pay 50k a week so but limited in the players we'll get to come.

Bazbear72

1.) 20 Nov 2022 18:50:28
Is Goldson not out for months?

2.) 20 Nov 2022 18:52:18
Good post Bazbear72?Yip the right wing has been a problem position for us for ages now ? We're going to have a big problem on our left wing shortly if kent leaves because have no doubt about it he's going to be very difficult to replace and i'm still saying that even though he's not playing to his best ? IMO kent continues to contribute even though he's not in his best form as he draws 2 and 3 opposition players to him, which of course makes space for others for which other players have not utilised but hey ho it's all kent's fault ?NOT! He's streets ahead of any other winger at ibrox and imo at his best the most talented winger in scottish football bar none ??.

3.) 20 Nov 2022 20:53:59
Bazbear I for 1 don't think gio instills confidence in the players. the way he speaks with the media there seems to be absoloutly no passion. I want him gone but the board are clearly keeping him so we all need to back him. as you said hopefuly this mini break will kick start our season. I think the leagues already gone but a good showing in the cups and fight in the league will install confidence fir 56 next seadon.

4.) 20 Nov 2022 21:16:39
Fully agree Baz and Sir Walter. We definitely need Goldson and Lawrence back but I do worry that this will not happen as soon as we would like. I also doubt that we will see any real quality signings in January and for me we need a top quality goalkeeper and as you say, a top quality right winger. We could also do with getting rid of Helander, Roofe and some of those signed that are simply not good enough.

5.) 20 Nov 2022 21:31:54
Coops that’s why we are fecked because kent is playing hopeless and still our best winger ? honestly you need surgically removed from his ass.

6.) 20 Nov 2022 22:06:28
Like you from morelos stormtrooper ?.

7.) 20 Nov 2022 22:16:11
Storm ????.

8.) 20 Nov 2022 22:26:34
How is Kent going to be difficult to replace? He's done nothing for ages. He is taken the p*ss .

.

9.) 20 Nov 2022 23:25:50
Sir Walter its all very well saying at his best he's he's most talented but that's like saying when Roofe isn't injured or when Morelos is two stone lighter and motivated. Apart from a couple of great games in Europe we've barely had half a dozen good games from him in 18 months. I genuinely wouldn't care or doubt would notice if he never played for us again.

10.) 21 Nov 2022 06:49:18
Parlane60, even when kent isn't playing well and he hasn't been as we all know, he's still capable of turning a game for us in a split second by a piece of magic ie. the reason we got 4 points from our latest league games against st. mirren and hearts was because of kent ?Like i say he's still so important to our team when he's not playing to his best as he creates space for others with his ability to draw 2 and sometimes 3 players to him as the opposition know in a split second how dangerous he can be ?Hope i've explained well enough to you parlane to why i think kent is very important to our team pal?.

Director of football is the way every big club is run, gone are the days when a Sir Alex controls every aspect of a club. It also provides consistency when say, A Gerrard leaves. They identify targets, the manager has a say but for years good players have went to huge clubs like ours and not been able to handle the pressure. Think Soutar could still come good, he had an undiagnosed foot injury which has been fixed and obvs list his brother, Lawrence great, collak great, thought Tilman was good yesterday and still young. Matondo will come good too I think. Actually the poorer performances are Kent, thought Tavs looked off it this year too.

Think Soutar on compassionate leave, also heard he had C.V., I expect both him and Davies to be winning headers in the middle alongside Goldson, heard them talking on SSB last night that we're now utilising zonal marking and it takes a bit of time to get right but when it does it works. Wasn't sure about Sands but I think he's done pretty well overall, obvs the coaching staff who work with him every day see something in him.
