CL - played 4, lost 4, won 0, 16 goals against, 1 goal for and zero points.
SPL - threw away 6 point lead, and lost league to brand new celtic team who were getting over a league mauling by 25 points, and had a rookie manager in charge.
This season 2 points behind leaders, who have already destroyed us 4-0
Record against them - played 5, lost 3, won 1, drew 1. 11 goals against, 4 for, and 1 point In League, and 1 Cup victory.
Is this the record of a manager we trust to bring the league back to Ibrox? Not a chance!
If it wasn't for the EL final, he'd be out of here.
That tonight ranks no better than the crap we saw when Pedro was here. He needs to go before it really is too late.
It's quite obvious he can't get a tune out of that team. He's hopelessly out of his depth.

I has wanted to give gio this season but I'm now tending to agree with you were unable to get a run going and I think gio sadly Haa to go.

2.) 12 Oct 2022 23:00:25
Not sure which was more embarrassing tonight, the result or the gutless performances of Kent, Barasic and Tavernier. All first half Kent gave little or no defensive cover and the warning signs were there to be exploited by Gomez long before the second goal. Barasic bricked it when Salah came on and Tavernier was caught out of position all night. Even the equaliser came from a brutal, aimless Tav pass which led to the corner. Liverpool are a great team but weren't really extended despite the score line. No doubt, all three will play on Saturday although that imposter Kent should never be allowed to wear the shirt again. Hard to see how Gio should survive this but, no doubt, our Board will baulk at the prospect of paying him and his management team off.

3.) 12 Oct 2022 23:53:02
But Kent cost £7 millions. He must be good, even though you were the only bidders.

4.) 13 Oct 2022 00:31:57
We will see how great a team Liverpool are on Sunday when they play Manchester City! They were made to look better than they are tonight because in that second half we were a total embarrassment.

When Goldson went off we lacked leadership, there was no one to cover for Tav, who simply cannot defend, we might as well have gone down to 10 men when we lost Jack because Davis was so far off the pace it was frightening. We lacked fight, we lacked quality, there was nothing special about any one of our players. Goal, who has been excellent in the SPL was totally out of his depth and the less said about Kent the better.
Since we won the league we have gone backwards and it looks pretty much as if the only ambition that Parks and his Board had was to stop Celtic getting 10 in a Row.
Just not good enough!

Although I have been overly critical of last week's mauling in the east end, I refused to jump on the "Gio must go" bandwagon as I still believed in him. Any manager who gets us to a European final, and wins our first SC in years, deserves credit and time to get things right. Although the league was lost, the guy achieved a helluva lot in such a short space of time. However, after last night's shambles, with him sticking with virtually the same bunch of cowards, and tactics, then to come out with what he did in that interview, who still feels he is the right man for the job? Can he sort this mess out? Is there anyone, like me, beginning to question his ability to get it right? Are we being too critical of him and should be venting our anger more on the board for failing to spend decent money on better players? Who's fault is it? In such a short space of time we have regressed at a rate of knots, and if we're being honest, the warning signs have been there. Especially away from home.
Now, I know there are some posters on here who are not happy with posters like me criticising the team, manager etc, and can't take it and react, but I'm asking a civil question on a football forum to hear what others think. If we could leave out the "sunshine supporter crap", or the "you're on the wrong forum mince, and just answer a simple question. Who's fault is it that we are in a such a bad way? And why are we in it? Regardless of whether you answer honestly, react with ire and sarcasm, or keep your head buried deep in the sand, something is not right at our club, both on, and off the park. Surely everyone can see this?

1.) 08 Sep 2022 07:05:56
I was very surprised to see 1 change to that team after Saturday. Maybe Gio was looking for a reaction which he obviously never got. Both games I felt like the players never knew what to expect from Ajax/ Celtic when anyone that has seen anything of either team could tell you!
I was always taught you can’t always win but there is a way to lose! Give everything you have and fight, Rangers didn’t do that which should be unacceptable to anyone associated with our great club.

2.) 08 Sep 2022 07:15:46
Problem is who are you seriously going to bring in the now? Gio will effectively get himself the sack if he doesn't now make some strong decisions. Unfortunately, I don't see it as he, like most managers, are stubborn with keeping with how they want to play the game. To me, he is either far too loyal to certain players, or the ones who you would replace them in the starting line up with, aren't showing enough in training, which is even more worrying! I mean to play an injured player in our two biggest games of the season is absolute madness. This might sound stupid but I would rather see gio make some bold decisions against aberdeen. I would rather lose with some youngsters getting a chance, and at least putting in a shift, and giving there all. Another thing, a defender ducking out the way is ridiculous, never mind doing it week in, week out. Seems as though, now the big man has his next 4 years planned out, and he is resigned to the fact he won't do better than our club, he is not interested. Kent, 100 percent needs to be benched as well. In his 3.5 years here he just hasn't been good enough overall, has he.

3.) 08 Sep 2022 07:45:14
First off , we have no God given right to win any football match.
But as fans we expect fight, hunger and desire as the bare minimum.
You ask whose fault it is, Down?
For me it’s a combination of everyone at the club.
Players:-
I’m not going to name names as we all have our own thoughts on certain players.
Too many in my opinion are going through the motions.
Others are playing within themselves and looking after themselves instead of the team.
Some seem to think they have reached the pinnacle of their career by reaching the EL Final ( which we lost ) . Forgetting that an institution like Rangers FC is built on consistently winning trophies domestically.
Where’s the professional pride?
Gio:-
Results domestically have been terrible. But his achievement in Europe speaks for itself. Tactically sound ( normally ) and getting the correct results.
Players getting played out of position.
Why pick Tav to play if he is injured?
Why not take Colak off on the 60-70 minute ark to save him for Aberdeen? And in turn give Morelos a much needed run out?
Board:-
The board have consistently covered losses. And we won’t know how much could / should have been available for the squad until the annual accounts are out.
FFP could also be playing a part.
It’s easy to forget the massive re-building that was required from top to bottom since they took over.
They probably look at it as a success. Winning the league, decent European runs, upgrades around the club etc.
But is that enough and could they have done more?
Ross Wilson:-
Recruitment can be considered poor when you look who has started / finished games recently from the summer signings.
We have also had a few unavailable due to injuries.
I think we have the players and manager who can turn it around.
But they need to stand up and be counted.
Starting with Aberdeen on Saturday.
And it then doesn’t get any easier after that.

4.) 08 Sep 2022 08:21:51
We have no squad. It is decimated with injuries and people way off form. His choices are limited unless we bring a raft of kids in which would be unfair.

5.) 08 Sep 2022 08:58:38
My thoughts exactly Down in the tube.

Will Liverpool fans be calling for thier managers head, they los last night as well.

The answer is no, for sure.

Ed001 is a true supporter of them as you all well know and would bet my boots he will support their manager through thick and thin.

6.) 08 Sep 2022 10:14:18
If we have no SQUAD then why did gio publicly say he was happy with the SQUAD?

7.) 08 Sep 2022 10:22:14
For me it's Chairman as starting point for multiple failings. The whole Cinch saga is self driven by his business interests. I'm not having the whole nonsense spouted as our excuse. Embarrassing and then refusing TV deal and demanding apology etc. Genuinely acting like petulant kids. No doubt I will get the "Rangers are the saviours of the world" responses but I'm sick fed up of our club being the forefront of every issue in Scotland. Park imo has a sense of entitlement at Rangers as he helped save us etc. Therein lies the problem. PARK OUT.

8.) 08 Sep 2022 11:32:01
The lad Sands is punch drunk. His confidence must be in the gutter as he's been torn apart playing I out of position. Goldson is an embarrassment who'll pick up decent money for another 4 years. Kent should have his new unsigned contract withdrawn, as should Morelos. No cover for Tav (who's struggled big time) and limited viable options elsewhere. The Sheep will be up for it on Saturday and I doubt our players will be the same. Big problem if we were to drop points against them again.

07 Sep 2022 20:49:51
When is the last time we've had back to back results like this? We are in one helluva mess, and going by Gio's interview, Christ knows how he's going to change this. The "real supporters" will accuse those asking questions of not being true Rangers fans, but If they're prepared to accept this, then what does that make them? This is dire! This is serious! This team have went so far backwards, it's frightening. What has went wrong? Has Gio lost the dressing room? Have some players chucked it already? Do the board care? Is Ross Wilson money for old rope? How did we go from Champions of Scotland just over a year back, EL finalists 4 months back, and CL qualifiers less than a month back, to this? Something stinks, and I don't mean our defending. Questions need asked. Answers must be demanded.

His zonal marking for 1 is a disgrace.

2.) 07 Sep 2022 22:25:45
I agree Down in the tube. I am very worried what is going on at our Club, by my reckoning over £100 Million was made from last season and thus far this season, our dent was £23 Million. which left £77 Million, our total spend on new Players and contract renewals, let's say £25 Million circa, and we couldn't fork out say £8 Million for a CH and a striker. The end result in my opinion is that we won't get a point from our CL Group, as regards the players we seen the lack of effort, Ally McCoist was absolutely raging tonight, and who can blame him.

3.) 07 Sep 2022 22:07:29
DITTS, I don't see anything from the Board that suggests that they are ambitious. Any ambition seemed to stop when Gerrard won the League and stopped 10 in a row. As for Parks, he seems more interested in his Motor Business than Rangers and our PR over the last 12 months has been a total embarrassment.
We have failed to replace the quality players that were brought in previously, guys like McGregor, Davis, Arfield, Jack, all top quality in their day, but needed replacing at the start of last season. Goldson, should not have been given a new contract but we didn't look to bring in a quality replacement but rather, our backstop was Souttar, a player with a significant injury history, (but then that has been par for the course) . We have been unfortunate that Lawrence has been injured but one man doesn't make a team. We expect too much from young Tillman. As for the rest of this season's signings, who knows, Matondo looks even worse than Sakala, Davies is sat on the bench tonight while Sands is given the run around, Colak was totally out of his depth and would have been lucky if he touched the ball half a dozen times. He didn't do anything for 90 minutes!
Just to complete the pantomime, we spent £5m on a player, Yilmaz, who isn't needed and in any event isn't able to replace Barasic, (who was probably the best player in the rRngers team tonight) .
Just to add insult to injury our Captain didn't come out to face the Media. GVB mentioned that he was injured, carrying an injury before the game, why was he playing.
We are stuck with what we have until the end of the Season but arguably none of those at the end of their contract should be resigned although perhaps Morelos should stay if he is willing to sign again - unless we think we can sign better!
Worryingly that is going to be a lot of new players that we need unless we can promote some our young players now.
Not looking good!

After yesterday's debacle, I see some calling for Gio and Ross Wilson's heads, so I wanted to see how long posters are willing to give them?
Gio has come in, and in a short space of time, he's won us a SC, got us to the final of the EL, and managed to get us into the Champions league proper. That's impressive in anyone's book, is it not? On the flip side to that, he was in charge and seen a 7 point lead in the league dissappear last season, and excluding our victory in the SC semi, he appears to be totally clueless how to set up against our biggest rivals and has been on the end of 2 maulings. Also, and If we're all honest, he struggles away from home against most in the SPL.
Now, I'm not saying he should be sacked, so don't start having a go, I'm just asking for posters opinions. That's what the forum is for!
What about Wilson? Has he been a success? How many of his 25 signings have worked? With the exception of Bassey, we haven't made decent money on the others he bought who we ended up selling. We bought Itten for 2.7m, sold for 1.6, and although we made money on Simpson and Zakowlski, we were still in the red for those 3 players. On top of that, when you think of the other players he has brought in, for every Colak there's a Zungu. His biggest outlay was on Roofe at 4.5m, but does anyone think we'll recoup that when, or If he's sold. Not a chance! It would appear it's only us who buy injury prone players. So be honest, out of his 25 signings, how many have actually went on to consistently tear up the league? Like I said, for every Lundstrum there's a Bacuna. And for someone who is meant to be a "transfer guru", the only player he has brought in to fit his "transfer model", who has made us money, is Bassey. Aribo and Patterson weren't his signings.

Down in the tube station AM

1.) 04 Sep 2022 10:07:36
Totally over the top. We can't recklessly spend money that we don't have. We need to have a sustainable rangers, with a high quality squad that has room to allow us to develop young talent, either signed or from the academy.

I don't think we can afford to have 30+ players that can walk into the team on high wages.

I also don't think we should ever be spending in a way that we risk out long term viability on gambling on what we must achieve in Europe.

We have a good team capable of winning the league and I think if we had a fully fit squad the result would have been different.

2.) 04 Sep 2022 10:10:54
A Bassey every three years would be excellent. It was gio who brought out the best in bassey. Stevie g had him dropped for months for a mistake against st Mirren .
We have seven or eight players out injured. Sat would have been a different game with their inclusion… although the goalkeeper’s errors cost us big time and there’s no accounting for how he would have reacted in that environment. Not good unfortunately.

3.) 04 Sep 2022 10:14:18
The league is bread and butter and they have won it 10 out of the last 11 years and if we are honest it’s going to be 11/ 12 if we don’t start playing better quickly. Taking champs league out of it the next few weeks we are away to the sheep and hearts anymore dropped points we say goodbye to the title.

4.) 04 Sep 2022 10:45:27
I want to see GVB stay and be successful but he needs to be allowed to bring in his own players just as Gerrard should have been.
Wilson's track record is not good when it comes to proven players. He can clearly find young up and coming players, or so it would appear although only one of his prodigies so far has made the first team and se couldn't sell him quick enough! Something has to change and perhaps incoming players need to have a better mentality than what we saw yesterday but over the time since Wilson has been here we sign too many players with a serious injury history, too many players with baggage that surely we knew about when we signed them and we don't appear great at agreeing new contracts for players which is a major part of his role.

5.) 04 Sep 2022 11:23:58
Camoo … in my opinion you have just posted a 10 / 10 post . very refreshing . keep them coming

01 Sep 2022 08:56:45
The drama! Who loves it?
I can see 2 scenarios occurring on here come Saturday after we play them.

1. All those who have stated that they are happy with the squad, and there is no need to buy anyone else because we have players who can step up to cover injuries etc. Will you still have the same bravado If we are well beaten at the midden? If this happens, will the "don't worry, everything is fine" brigade admit they were wrong?

2. All those who have constantly knocked the team, accused Gio and the board of letting us down, and it's criminal we haven't brought more in because we have money to burn after CL qualification etc. Will you hold your hands up and admit to shi#@ing the bed If we manage to do the unthinkable and beat them?

Don't you just love the transfer window.?
I'm going to take a cautious, pragmatic approach to this and wait to see how Saturday pans out before giving my tuppence. Always better to keep your mouth shut at the risk of sounding silly, than opening it and removing all doubt. However, it might be too late for me. ?.

Down in the tube station AM

1.) 01 Sep 2022 09:11:47
Why is it unthinkable?

2.) 01 Sep 2022 09:29:30
You need to ask those who are panicking coldo. The "unthinkable" part was used for affect for those who think we're all doomed. Surely a man of your superior knowledge and education would have picked up on that? ??.

3.) 01 Sep 2022 09:37:52
Don't think you can blame gio for lack of signings this is at feet of the board. If you look at past 3 windows we've spent roughly 16m and that's with Patterson 12m Bassey 19m and Aribo 6m iv not included add ons. I'm sorry our club have a lot to thank board for but imo regaining league will prove difficult comparing quality of both squads.

4.) 01 Sep 2022 09:43:36
My superior knowledge had picked up on it, that's why I'm throwing the question out there? is that a reasonable explanation for a man with an inferior knowledge and education to grasp DITTS??‍♂️.

5.) 01 Sep 2022 10:04:49
Sure you did coldo. Keep digging. ??.

6.) 01 Sep 2022 10:13:00
The league is not won or lost this Saturday for crying out loud.

7.) 01 Sep 2022 10:56:51
I did throw the question out there, its the 2nd post on this thread. Obviously the explanation wasn't simple enough?.

8.) 01 Sep 2022 11:54:30
If we can beat PSV then we can beat Celtic. Big signings don't always work out at Ibrox and we all know that only too well. We have the tools in the box - let's see what happens on Saturday. I was watching the Repair Shop on BBC last night and that's what you have to do sometimes - the best management teams make the imperfect work perfectly.

9.) 01 Sep 2022 12:02:56
Sure you did. Keep backtracking, we all believe you. It's not as If you talk rubbish, is it?! ??.

10.) 01 Sep 2022 12:03:14
I'm in the first group and no, a defeat on Saturday will not;

1 Change my mind
2 Stop us from winning the league

Even in our best years we did not win every game at Parkhead.

11.) 01 Sep 2022 12:12:19
Its there, 2nd post, check it out. Is not as though you can't read is it? ?.

12.) 01 Sep 2022 13:03:55
God loves a trier coldo! ??.

13.) 01 Sep 2022 14:35:01
Seriously though, I swear its right under your original post. I know folk taunt you but I wouldn't do that to you. ?.

14.) 01 Sep 2022 16:04:58
Oh my God, that has to be your most deluded post ever. Folk taunt me? Wow! As long as it's nowhere near as many a slagging, taunting, or whatever you want to call it, as you get, then I'm happy with that. ?????.

As John said, Sands here to June. Is he worth 4m? Not a chance! Not from what I have seen, anyway. He's definitely not a CH. Not the type we require!
This boy Cooper, from what John, and Mark say, is. 6'6, dominant in the air, who can tackle, and is just the type we are crying out for. If this guy is out of contract next summer, get him signed in January, and test Milwall to get him in earlier. The problem I could see is, if Milwall are in the running for promotion to EPL, they'll never let him go. Too much money at stake. Far too much for us to offer anything acceptable. And If they are in the running, would he really want to leave them? If they offer him a new contract, and there is a chance of promotion, surely he'd want to stay and play there? Who knows?

Not just that Storm. Does anyone really think Beale would come here after we've sacked a manager less than a year into the job? Or with an injury list longer than Argyle St? Or us being monitored for FFP? Especially after Gerrard, and his backroom staff, stating one of the reasons he left was not getting money for transfers. Or the fact we are only 2 games away from being the worst club in CL history? The list is long. Do you really see him giving up what he has at QPR to take on all that baggage? In my opinion, not a chance!
