My mate said a leak came from someone very close to Gerrard very early on and that's how he got wind of it and why so many ex players got wind of it
So it's not that the club or the 49ers leaked it it came from his camp by accident apparently
It's why my mate has linked in it twice initially at the start and then when he drifted out lumped on again
Suppose time will tell hopefully not long to find out.

Excuse my ignorance here but how would a hall of famer have knowledge of a decision being made by businessmen and people with no prior connection to the club? I don't imagine they have chosen to given this particular ex-players a call to run it by him.
Also how would anyone be close to the current set up when that set up is apparently going into massive changes in personnel and re-allocation. With all the change going on and no media getting a whiff of anything how is it that these two know what nobody else knows?
I could be 100% wrong but I am very skeptical to the validity of these "sources" and whilst I believe it is most likely Ancelotti and I'm aware it could be Gerrard or someone else, I'm not trusting this until such a decision is announced.

Beale was no technician and either was Gary Mac they were instructed by Gerrard (their BOSS) to train the players for a set formation and game scenarios yes like any Manager Gerrard would have welcomed their thoughts an ideas but he was the boss and made the decisions. Steven Gerrard inherited a sh""t show made us champions and had us competing in Europe year in year out and has been our most successful manager since Sir Walter. If Beale was a technician he had a year to show it with plenty of cash £££££ in the transfer market if only the board had given Gerrard that cash he may never have moved to Villa.

Walters I'm not arguing against the job he did but Gerrard said himself that Beale was behind the coaching/ tactics. Obviously SG had the final say but he leant heavily on their knowledge and experience (and others I've forgotten their names) . He can't do that with Davis and Hendo. If it's him I'd rather he came with someone far more experienced.

Stig no-one is saying that you, FB and others didn't get told this information from a variety of sources. However like Ayrshire and I have said this all along I still don't get how they got the information from a group of US businessmen who aren't even based here and have kept every bit of business up till now very well hidden unless they wanted to release it. and if they do why would they up to a month before they announce the manager. why not announce it and say his start date will be delayed. that makes more sense and less chance of these leaks.
I can't also understand why both Gerrard and Ancelotti camp both saying they have got the job. As I say not saying you haven't heard it and don't want to fall out all over again with Florida over it as I never doubted he was told this.
BTW I also don't think anyone saying any of the other managers names have any better sources which lead back to the only 3-4 guys who know.

I'm not for one minute saying it's him or anyone else. But explaining why rumours come about. It doesn't need to be the business men from 49ers and it doesn't need to be from the club
My mate got his info from someone who apparently leaked it from Gerard's camp by accident from someone he knows around Rangers. But I'm assuming it's why ex players all heard it too unless they heard it from Gerrard directly I don't know and will never know why they all think the same and why they all mentioned it at the helicopter Sunday event

Sarcasm generally refers to the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really want to say.

The only reason Stevie G has not been announced is down to tax. The financial year in Saudi runs from 1st Jan until 31st December. Gerrard has to wait 120days before signing or he would be liable to pay 45% tax. Those 120days end today. His announcement is imminent ?.

My sons an accountant Jason and sent me the information this afternoon. It comes down to his appointment dates and when he came back to UK. There financial year runs Jan to Dec yours April to April. He was appointed in July 2023 and sacked in January 2025 and he only completed one full financial year. These are the dates he sent me. Hope that helps ?.

There is no penalty for taking a new job when you leave Saudi. just even read your own post. he left in January 25 so after the end of their tax year so why would he be penalised for last years salary and tax. Like UK once that tax year is closed it is closed. he left in January so the 120 days would kick in after then so be sometime in May not today.
Re UK tax he would be due additional taxes in UK if his statutory residence test showed his primary residence was in UK last UK tax year if he started working in the UK before the 5 April just past.

Angus my son sent me this. It's fine with me mate but if you don't want to divulge what you did or disagree with what I am saying but really we can't judge you on anything other than an opinion.
Don't spend more than 91 days in the UK for each tax year and you are fine, zero tax liability to UK. In other words You will become non resident and not liable to pay tax. You spend anything between 92 and 185 then you will Be subject to the SRT (statutory residence test) which means you may pay tax.
Make sure to complete the P85 and send to HMRC. Send as much money back to UK no problems but expect delays and further evidence of where you get your money from in the beginning. After a while it won't be a There are a series of test which will determine your status for this year.
Assuming you have lived in UK since beginning of this tax year that means you've already spent 172 days in UK and fail both the Overseas test and pass the UK tests.
From what I can see, any foreign earnings for the rest of this tax year will be subject to UK tax.
P.S. above all this Gerrard was on 15million a year in Saudi. If you think there are no implications on this you are incorrect. ?.

I was asking whether your son knew SGs tax situation or whether he was telling you the generic tax laws. From your last post I think that he has given you the tax laws around the statutory residence test for UK tax laws, which may apply to SG. my understanding is that as the new tax year has started he could legally have started a new job on April 6th. your son is correct that if he had started a new job before that date and he had a residence in this country he would have been due tax in this country for the money he earned in Saudi and the amount is dependent on the number of days he spent in this country. The Saudi system requires a person to pay his taxes up to 120 days after end of tax year which is 31 December as your son states. The two systems can run concurrently but are totally separate.

1 trophy from 9 first time round, failed in his two jobs since, contributed massively to the financial issues we had by overspending on players wages and left us when it suited him to in the middle of a season.
He was hardly successful in his first stint, other than "stopping the 10" in a season in front of no fans where Celtic imploded.
I'm not interested in having him back and after the last few seasons that might even be the final straw for me! For many fans this sort of appointment would instantly wipe out any goodwill coming from the takeover and put the new owners on a "no better than the last lot" footing.
They'd be very, very silly to even entertain such an appointment IMO. I'd go as far as to say Ferguson, who should be nowhere near the job next season, would be a better choice than Gerrard for the new owners.
Outside of a small minority of our fans who often can't see the wood for the trees, Gerrard would be a disastrous outcome of this takeover.

If this takeover happens and SG comes back, it would be a bad start for a new regime. The club needs to move forward and look to the future…SG returning would be holding on to the past. Yes he got 55 but the guy jumped ship to the EPL as quick as he could and his overall trophy record is pretty poor.
On the takeover there are so many conflicting rumours and stories understandably every fan is nervous. There needs to be some clarity on what is going hopefully that happens soon.

Last season I think it's fair say Nico Raskin was our most improved player. Playing consistently and nailed down his spot in our first 11. His performances gained him an international call up and has increased his transfer value. I am curious as to what people's thoughts are on who will improve most this season under Russell Martin?
I will go first and say Oscar Cortes. I think there is a player in him and if he gets a good pre-season under his belt he will surprise a lot of us. Still only 21years old he has already had a call up for the Columbia national squad. ?.

Im a fan because i love my club and want nothing but the best for it.
It started when i was born in to a Rangers family in 1985 who happened to live next door to ally mccoist in calderwood in east kilbride and i lived next to him till i was about 4 and my love for Rangers grew and grew and grew it became a way of life and has been a way of life ever since.
Growing up Rangers were the one constant in my life that made me happy when there wasn't much to be happy about. Very proud to be a Rangers fan growing up in the 80s and 90s and 00s Rangers were unbelievable as a club from top to bottom we had bazza gazza Laudrup the de boers cannigia kanchelskis mols it was truely a phenomenal time to be a Rangers fan

What matters to me most is a team that plays with honour and huge pride in our badge everything else comes second.
I love everything about the club the stadium the fellow fans the songs the inclusiveness the legends the history the trophy room the way we treat the british army the fact we are proud to be british the colours the strips EVERYTHING. i have and always will love Rangers with everything i have.

Florida I've told my story on here before. I come from a family of catholics and huge Celtic fans, my mum (God bless her) had 7 sisters and 3 brothers and my dad ( God bless him) had one sister, so a very large family, who are all Celtic mad including my brother. My mum and dad broke up when I was 5 and my mum got a Rangers supporting bf who took me to ibrox at age 6 and I was absolutely hooked. My dad was a broken man, but never let it get in the way of our relationship. There was times in my house were we would leave for our separate grounds, tell each other i hope you get pumped, away we would go, meet back at the house and talk about the score etc, this is why I couldn't ever hate Celtic or there fans. I've always loved Rangers and really struggle in the summer with not watching them, it's strange as always look forward to my summer holiday, but at the same time gutted the summer break is coming. What matters is the winning mate something we've been absolutely starved of for a long time, to long. I really hope we are turning a corner. 20 years ago I got told by specialists that I would never walk again.
13 years ago we got demoted to the bottom of Scottish football and told we were finished.
Today a manager is about to be appointed to our great club and some have him written off already.
Moral of this story we are Rangers. As fans and as a club we stand in the face of adversity all the time. It's in our DNA. Need I remind you of the cry. I can walk, play golf and do light exercise and I saw us reclaim our SPL title in 2021.

I would be quite happy if we got him. Intelligent defender and has experience at the highest level having played in the EPL. He also has 10 caps for England. 32 is still pretty young for a centre half. Isn't blessed with pace but he would most certainly improve our defence ?.
