Here’s a bit of a debating point for everyone. I’ll start by saying this is no way my opinion or what I want, just thought it’s an interesting situation overall. The question is, with the way the European competitions are set up this year, would it actually be better to finish 3rd in the group rather than 2nd? Let’s look at the reasons. Finish first and you’re into the last 16 (likely that’ll be Lyon) finish 2nd and you’re into a playoff game for the last 16 against a 3rd place team from the champs league. Now that’ll likely be a very good team if you look at some of those champs league groups. Fair chance of not winning that game and out of Europe. Now, finish 3rd and you’re into a playoff game against a 2nd place Euro conference team. Good chance of winning, into last 16 of Euro conference and fair chance of going further. Therefore more Euro games, more money and much better chance of possibly getting to a quarter or semi final? As I say, I’m not advocating we try finishing 3rd! Just wondered folks opinions?

Well though thru Ger and i agree with your observations.

2.) 17 Sep 2021 15:12:39
I get it from a financial point of view, Ger1978.
But I would rather the team continued to test itself against "better" quality opposition to see how far away we are.

3.) 17 Sep 2021 15:35:19
I think we can see were we are are against them MPH. Miles behind teams like Lyon.

4.) 17 Sep 2021 15:48:12
I agree MrPH, just think that this year especially going by the champ league groups the majority of the teams that will finish 3rd are clearly superior to us just now (look at Liverpool’s group, Liverpool, A Madrid, Porto and Milan. The team finishing 4th in that group would likely be way too strong for us never mind 3rd) Where as end up in the later stages of the Europa Confrence, the best 4 teams in that competition (if everyone played their strongest teams) are probably Roma, Tottenham, Slavia Prague and maybe Basel or Feyenoord, other than that there really would be no one to fear. Play as we know we can and there’s no reason we couldn’t get to the quarter or even semi final (or who knows, even further) in that competition. And who wouldn’t want to see us in and around the finals of a European competition, no matter which one it was? Again I don’t know what would be best…. As long as we don’t finish 4th! ☹️.

5.) 17 Sep 2021 15:49:00
Are 50000 fans going to pay the extra 35£ a game to watch a rangers play a Euro conference team tho.

6.) 17 Sep 2021 16:04:24
I didn’t even know that the 3rd tear competition was getting played last night! As a club we want to be in highest competition available to us surely.

7.) 17 Sep 2021 18:45:52
And yet we have proved we can compete with Benfica, Porto and others previously?
So is out poor start to the season hindering us? Or have we stagnated or worse than that went backwards?

8.) 17 Sep 2021 19:01:49
MPH, unfortunately I think it's the latter. Some players in my opinion hit their peak last year. We didn't strengthen the squad when at the top, if anything those that have came in are weaker. A few 3 or 4 are either refusing to sign new deals or have made it clear they would like to be elsewhere.
I don't like where this is going.

That’s Hagi now out with C.V. now as well🙄. Wish him a speedy recovery. We really are getting pretty hammered with it just now. Just hope those out with it previously are all ok now and Patterson and Helander’s injuries are not serious. Would be nice to be able to put out a settled team soon.

Ger1978!

1.) 07 Sep 2021 16:59:10
Hope he is ok
it’s crazy the amount of footballers who haven’t taken up the double dose vax
it’s a thought that there around the best medical teams yet there medical teams are not telling them to get it?

why you think so many players across the country are unwilling to get it? so many mangers have now came out and said more than half there players are not taking it up?

2.) 07 Sep 2021 17:07:36
He was playing well too . Two assists in two games for Romania.

Step up and take his shirt Bacuna would be my advice.

3.) 07 Sep 2021 17:19:53
We have a massive squad that should be able to cope with this. Will miss st johnstone and lyon i think.

4.) 07 Sep 2021 17:26:01
Thestigno1 - has it been confirmed he hasn't been doubled jabbed? I haven't seen that but you can still catch CV regardless of whether you've been jabbed or not.

5.) 07 Sep 2021 17:36:36
Does it say somewhere what players haven’t been double jabbed or are we assuming they haven’t been because they have it?

6.) 07 Sep 2021 18:00:44
Andy haliday said on Clyde one majority of Rangers players hadn’t been double jabbed
And I’m assuming this is what sparked Nicola to say that all professionals were to be jabbed to play proffesional sports
not sure when this is going to be made a rule

Olly Man Utd manager said more than half his squad not jabbed and Newcastle have also said the same
pep guardiola has came out and encouraged all players too take it up as most around the country hasn’t

so not saying hagi not been just that andy haliday said he knows fact most haven’t
Which I was surprised as well as the listeners that evening given our squad travels for Europe etc? As well as all other big clubs likes Man U Arsenal Man City
It seems across the board most players have t taken up the double vax
Andy has had one so far as he confirmed on radio.

7.) 07 Sep 2021 18:28:38
The reason that players did not get jagged is that it can make you ill for a short time after getting it then there is an 8 week wait till you get the second jag by which time the season had started AND you can still catch the lerg no matter how many jags you have, then to make it worse the doctors and nurses are telling Halliday, thestig and the rest who has or hasn't had them.

8.) 07 Sep 2021 18:34:09
Thanks for the reply stig. Hadn't seen any of that but pretty staggering that the take-up is so low! I'm a big NFL fan and some of the teams there have a 100% vax rate - although a lot of the NFL contracts are heavily incentivised and performance based. Maybe that's the way ahead!

9.) 07 Sep 2021 19:12:32
Wonder what they all plan to do when they ain't double jagged and you can't get into a football stadium with a vax passport? Or when they want to go for a meal in a restaurant.

10.) 07 Sep 2021 19:55:42
You said that very blase' sweep as if its normal for some members of society to have different rights to others for doing what or not doing what any government tells them. If someone has been double jagged what have they to fear from someone who has not? Will we have to go for a compulsory booster each year?

11.) 07 Sep 2021 20:27:48
Doesn't matter if your double jabbed, you can still get C.V.. The jab only reduces the severity of the symptoms that's all.

12.) 07 Sep 2021 21:12:34
Thanks for clarifying Stig. I’m quite surprised that a lot of them haven’t been fully jabbed. It’s not like they’re teens.

13.) 08 Sep 2021 06:35:32
Its at the point a choice alloa ger. They have choice just like everybody else. I have not had any of them yey and don't want to but with this qr code coming out now not sure my fake cert will work any more 😂.

14.) 08 Sep 2021 12:01:14
Jyf 8 weeks isn’t that a long time between jags. It’s only 4 weeks here WA I’ve had my two and only felt a bit weak after the first one. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺⚽️👍.

15.) 08 Sep 2021 12:07:40
Tbf still, Andy halliday said he still is friends with some players at rangers, and he knows not all players have been double jabbed. He didn't say the majority. That comment could mean 2 people or it could mean 20 people.

My guess is if both Kamara and Goldson are still here after tonight (all by all means it looks like both hopefully will be) we’ll see both of them signing their contract extensions. This isn’t due to them ‘showing their loyalty to us’ or being 100% committed to us, rather it’s for the following reasons. I’m guessing that their agents will of told them not to sign whilst the transfer window is open as agreeing new contracts will of pushed up their values (longer contracts on higher wages) and potentially put off any clubs that were looking to sign them (currently could maybe of got Kamara for say for talking sake, between 10-12m but if signs new longer term contract that goes up to 15m) . However once window closes and they aren’t going anywhere, why sit on their current, lower wages when they can now sign the new contracts and earn more, I know I would! So likely we’ll see them sign, but not necessarily because they really want to be here, more because no one seriously came in for them and they’ll now want to be getting paid more. Doesn’t mean of course they may not leave come the next window or more likely next summer.

Goldson I don’t think will sign a new deal.

Good to see John Hartson talking absolute nonsense as usual, ‘Carl Starfelt has something like 26 caps for Sweden’ Ummmm try 3 John! 😂😂😂.

2.) 29 Aug 2021 14:23:30
Carl Ersefelt, like that, forget who posted the name on here tho.

3.) 29 Aug 2021 15:45:19
Dsger u r entitled to your opinion, I respect that, you know I don’t agree with a lot of your views. We will win 56 this season.

29 Aug 2021 10:56:53
Really not confident looking at that team. Our weakest areas today are both fullbacks and obviously keeper, their strongest area is the wide and forward areas. Also last season our main attacking threat came from our fullbacks, which won’t be the case today. Need to come up with a new game plan.

Ger1978!

1.) 29 Aug 2021 11:28:24
We have a strong midfield and a very strong attack, I would even go as far as saying that if needed this might just be the game that Lundstrum come up trumps. Worrying that we don't have any back up defenders on the bench and only Itten as a back up striker. Irrespective of the C.V. issues it highlights the need for a couple more quality players.

Sxmccr, please don’t worry, there is no way Newcastle and their new multi billionaire owners are considering Gerrard as manager and absolutely NO way they are thinking about buying any of our players. They are now pretty much the richest club on the planet, could afford to pick just about any players or manger they like, certainly in the same bracket as Man City and PSG in terms of wealth, and when was the last time either of those clubs were thinking about trying to buy any of our players? And do you think if Pep was to leave Man City they would turn to Gerrard? No I’m sorry, all this is is a load of crappy tabloids making up stories and trying to stir up the usual nonsense and being backed up by Celtic minded pundits like Alan Brazil and Mark Wilson, and then a load of punters reading crap like that and placing bets at bookies which then makes him the ‘bookies favourite’ (not to mention also making the bookies a crap load of money when all those folk are wrong, no wonder the bookies love it when the papers put out stories talking of ‘bookies favourites’, no collaboration going on there at all! ) The Daily Mail even tried this morning to claim that Gerrard was ‘intrigued’ by the prospect of managing Newcastle?!?! How they hell do they know what does or does not ‘intrigue’ Steven Gerrard.

Hi John, is that the right name for the goalkeeper? Can’t find anyone on google with that name. Cheers for the info though once again! 😊.

Can you expand on that at all? For example, who did you hear this from? Is the source reliable? Did you believe it yourself? Or was it just something a random told you? Not saying you haven’t heard that, just looking for a bit more info to see whether to believe it or not.

The issue here is what you said at the start ‘reading in the Daily Star’. I highly doubt we will of named our price, so to speak. We may well have a price in mind that we would deal at for all of our players (in fact I’m positive we will have) but I doubt we are disclosing that to anyone (let alone the Daily Star) .

I’m not sure all is as seems here, may be wrong but the ‘incident’ happened at the point after the tackle that Aribo got booked for, the BT cameras showed him walking past the player and ‘spitting’ towards the ground, but you couldn’t see the player in the picture itself (if you know what I mean) I have a feeling he was just passing by the player and happened to spit on the ground and maybe folk are putting 2 and 2 together and saying he spat on the player. I may be totally wrong but from what I saw (if this is indeed the incident that’s being referred to) even the look in his face at the time was of a player just casually getting rid of phlegm in their mouth and not someone ‘aggressively spitting at or on someone’. (I know people will ask, how can you tell that, but I’m sure you understand what I mean, ie player spitting on ground verses Frank Rikaard spitting on Rudi Voller! ) As I say I may be totally wrong but hopefully this is all it is.
