He knew and played with Martin at Scotland and Norwich and whilst we were still trying to get manager he was mooted to take us for pre-season for a while.
If he does come. he did an okay job at hearts; is strongly opinionated which is a good thing and it has been 13 years so I have forgotten and forgiven. it was a bad time for everyone and a lot of people in their 20s say things they might regret later.

I was definitely in the minority in not really caring what 2 young footballers said about the club when they were trying to free themselves of thier contract. It's what they were advised to say by lawyers and they were looking after themselves. Probably unnecessary but it's not like they were experts or it actually changed anything.
Would probably have done the same in thier shoes if I were advised I could advance my career and make millions in the process.
I would probably not bring him to the club based on how the majority feel to be fair.

Tommy we already made them millionaires! Naismith didn't play probably for a year of his short time here and then couldn't get out quick enough when the opportunity came knocking. All he had to do was to rubbish the club and fans and that's exactly what he did.
Davis and McGregor probably got the same advice and decided not to take it and leave with their heads held high.

Some just decide to hate someone without proper consideration of a situation, it's a bit like the Ryan Jack thing with some Scotland supporters.
Some thought it was in Scotlands interest to boo Ryan while representing them in matches.
Some Rangers supporters will decide it's in Rangers interest to boo Steven Naismith if he returns, without considering what affect this may have on the team.
I go to Hampden to watch Scotland and was ready to have a right go as I felt it was a disgrace.
No matter whether you agree with Russell Martin being manager or any appointed coaching staff, please look at the bigger picture and support the team to help them backed by the new owners to get an unstoppable forward momentum to hopefully win the league title again.

It doesn't make sense. He might be a decent coach, pretty sure there is plenty more good coaches out there that haven't rubbishd the fans or the club.
Like I said, RM would be very ill advised to appoint him in any capacity.
He already doesn't have the trust of a lot of the support, that appointment would put do nothing to help his situation with the fans if he wants everyone on his side.

Hard to know, John. I haven't seen him play much, but from the little i have, I'm not sure he'd suit RM's possession style anyway. Given our new wage structure, I would be guessing that Swansea would be offering a higher salary than us anyway. The money available in the Championship is crazy. Any players coming from the Championship to us will be coming for the opportunity to play in front of 50k fans and the opportunity to win trophies and play in Europe and not necessarily for an increase in salary. Just my opinion, of course.

I still think it is too early to say Jobe Bellingham is a success. did well in Championship last season but let's see how he does at a higher level. I suspect he will do fine but still too early imo to say he is a success on the pitch. I still feel similar about Miller and Bellingham was playing a good level above him.

With Russell our new Head Coach, it does look like much of the player transactions will (albeit with his input) be handled elsewhere within the club allowing him to focus on coaching. Which I assume is where his strengths lie and what attracted the club hierarchy to him. Clearly his desired style of play appeals.
Once again our focus needs to be on quality recruitment, and I wonder if the view is of finding a core of SPL style players up to the job of coping with the Scottish style, added to a continuation of what has worked in recent years in Europe (pacy counter attacking) … as I think what has been shown is that recruitment of one style has appeared to be to the detriment of the other (with us that is) ….
