Heart and Hand have said Rangers HAVEN'T made an approach for Shankland.
Thank feck.
9 goals from open play isn't good enough for Rangers.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 10 Apr 2023 13:22:17
We need far better than him, seen your comment earlier mph some want 3m+ spent on him but don't want Tillman signed unreal some fans.

2.) 10 Apr 2023 13:51:07
We might perceive that we need better than Shankland but, (i), will that happen, and (ii), given the correct quality around him, Shankland could easily score 30 goals+ a season, just ask McCoist and Boyd.
The problem is that we have not brought the appropriate quality of player to the club for a number of seasons failing to replace McGregor, Davis, Arfield and Jack with younger players of a similar or better quality, we failed to cash in on Morelos and Kent when their value was high and replace them with better or similar players and the centre of our defence is still a basket case despite the money spent and players signed.
Tillman and Shankland would both be quality signings with the appropriate level of quality beside them and behind them.
We need some proven quality leaders signed, not youngsters where there is more interest in how much we can make on them rather than whether they can win us the league.

3.) 10 Apr 2023 14:00:02
100% MPH age isn’t good enough IMO he wouldn’t get pens aff Tav. Colak is better and he isn’t good enough to be starter every week.

4.) 10 Apr 2023 14:02:55
Or he could fail playing against 11 behind the ball.

5.) 10 Apr 2023 14:09:00
BB its seems though that’s the main by product of who we buy. How much we can make. I.

6.) 10 Apr 2023 16:46:06
Shankland is a carthorse and this was proved beyond any doubt in Belgium and also in Hearts pathetic efforts in Europe .

McBurnie is an olympic level sprinter in comparison so is Dykes. btw both of them are quicker than Morelos as well.

7.) 10 apr 2023 16:55:56
thats correct bb and windy, sometimes you need to find boys to win the league before looking for a cash return,

8.) 10 Apr 2023 18:44:44
100% correct Tom.

9.) 10 Apr 2023 19:57:38
Spot on, Tom. We need guys to win us the league next season and that's all that counts right now and they aren't Shankland or Nisbet.

10.) 11 Apr 2023 15:02:40
I wouldn't discount either Nisbet or Shankland at the right price so long as we have the quality of player beside them that can give them the support needed. I hear analogies with McCoist and comments that we would have had criticism of signing him but a big part of McCoist's success was Lately and other quality players that he played with.
I suspect that both Shankland and Nisbet would be a success with those players as well; perhaps not as big a success, but a success.

Our problem over the past few seasons has been a failure to bring in quality, failing to secure the top players and going for 3rd rate alternatives.

11.) 11 Apr 2023 15:53:31
I would take either of them as 3rd choice
Probably pick nisbett over shankland but not much in it.
John in your oppinion does Lovelace get 3rd choice striker next season or does he go out on a seasons loan to championship team for games?

Rumours on Twitter, Kent's girlfriend is telling people he is leaving.
Nothing to do with money apparently, just fed up of playing in Scotland.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 06 Mar 2023 21:57:49
Don't blame him. Why would a Premier league level player stay at the club considering the absolute state we are in. Getting nothing for him is a crime ross wilson should be sacked for alone. An absolute imposter known for his ego. Can Burnley just take all our board too?

2.) 06 Mar 2023 22:00:56
Wouldn't have complaints about that or him staying.

3.) 06 Mar 2023 22:17:08
Good. Free's up very good wages for 1, potentially 2 others. Has the ability to be a very good player, but dosent delivery the goals and assists required on a regular basis.

4.) 06 Mar 2023 22:25:51
Fair enough been good player but certainly has to contribute more for the wage we pay him. Just a shame we don't pick up a fee.

5.) 06 Mar 2023 22:30:35
It's my opinion, both Kent and Morelos will leave when their contracts are up. After the last couple of weeks, where I was hoping both would stay, I've come to the conclusion, they're off!

If both leave, and with Helander for the off, and Roofe made of glass, how much are we going to be down with these 4?

Roofe, who is buying him? £4m to buy. Probably £0 return?!
Helander released - £2.7 to buy. £0 return!
Kent off on a free? £7.5m to buy. £0 probability in return?!
Morelos off on free? £1m to buy. £0 probability in return?!

The reason I have said 'probability' with Kent, and Morelos, is because nothing is concrete. They could, in theory, sign new contracts.

So, with this "transfer model" we're meant to have, has it worked here? Nope!

Trophy wise, have we got a good return on investment with these players? 2 trophies in 6/ 7 seasons. Nope!

Money made from participation in Europe? Has this been successful? Yes, definitely!

So, virtually hee haw to show trophy wise, and sod all from money brought in by selling them, but at least they made us money in Europe! I'm so glad the board pumped that money straight back into our playing squad. Oh, wait, they never!

I know some will try to excuse this, but we knew we were buying 2 injury prone players. And with Kent and Morelos, we took our eye off the ball with them.

C'mon guys, surely to God you can't be happy with this? It's an omni-shambles!

6.) 06 Mar 2023 22:50:42
Good luck to the guy. Does anyone want him?

7.) 06 Mar 2023 23:23:01
Money made from Europe / sales was always going to be used to repay soft loans, these guys invested to save club, but were always going to be expecting a return for there money, I think you will find sometime soon some will be selling up to get further returns on investment, you can't blame then they have done there bit, after all it just how business works.

8.) 06 Mar 2023 23:23:11
TZjrfc Premier League player? everything else I agree with.

9.) 06 Mar 2023 23:55:24
Yes, premier league player.

10.) 07 Mar 2023 00:00:31
He’s went down hill over the last season so has wee buf.

11.) 07 Mar 2023 01:44:10
Why do people always act like it's the end of the world that a couple of players are leaving. We end up finding other club heroes down the line we always do.

As long as players give Thier all when here and honour Thier contract if they want to move on I say good luck to them.

I do however thing we should be more business orientated once a player has two years left on deal and of player not signing an extension should look to move them on asap.

12.) 07 Mar 2023 05:22:26
If ryan kent is leaving, i wish the guy all the best of luck wherever he goes next ? It's of my opinion kent would excel even more in a better/ more technical league as he'd get more time and space to showcase his undoubted ability ?I can understand him becoming a bit fed up playing in our league when he's continually fouled in this league with some of the hammer throwers ?
Parlane kent will have interest in him no doubt for me mate ?.

13.) 07 Mar 2023 05:37:33
I don't agree he's a premier league player whatsoever. If he goes to Premier league he will do the same as aribo and disappear. A championship player.

14.) 07 Mar 2023 06:43:53
Time will tell wherever he goes Herewego55?.

15.) 07 Mar 2023 07:46:41
He will get found out in the epl IMO.

16.) 07 Mar 2023 08:09:51
How's it a crime getting nothing for Kent, Tjrfc?
To get money for him, someone has to make a bid for the player.
And Kent himself has chosen to run down his contract and not sign the extension on the table.
Which is his prerogative.

17.) 07 Mar 2023 08:29:23
Tjrfc - "The absolute state we are in". Really? We are on course to record one of our highest ever points tallys, have reached 2 cup finals on the bounce and a european final. Yes we are falling short mainly down imo to poor recruitment but to say we are in a state is ridiclious. The reality is Celtic have bought well and have been incredibly consistent for 18 months now. In any other era we would be well in place for the league this season.

Kent is a good player who works incredibly hard for the team often to the detrment of his numbers and could do well in the EPL at a certain level but I don't believe he will leave.

18.) 07 Mar 2023 09:17:35
Schalke dropped £10m on Matondo and Wilson thought "ooo a bargain" guy's an utter plank .

19.) 07 Mar 2023 09:27:13
Fed up of this, 2 trophies in 6 or 7 years crap. Let's be honest we haven't had the finances to even look at competing until the last 3 or 4 seasons. Onky Morelos of those players have been here 6 seasons. Roofe been here 3, Helander 4, kent 4, Morelos 6 (averaging a goal every 2 games) . Not going to make profit on every signing and not going to win things every season when our budget was half of theirs.

20.) 07 Mar 2023 09:59:44
Peter since when is reaching finals a success at this club? Never, that's an absolutely pathetic mentality.

21.) 07 Mar 2023 10:14:42
Tjrfc you make sweep look positive on here.

Kent I would see the point if he was bossing it every game in why he would be bored maybe that’s why he doesn’t always put effort in/ always inconsistent.
Let him go bigger and better players than him have left our great club he is a serial loser and fails to do it when needed.

22.) 07 Mar 2023 11:20:33
We could point that at many of our players stormtrooper just not kent and colak and of course the whipping boy tav ?.

23.) 07 Mar 2023 12:41:37
TJRFC - Nobody said its success (Clearly its not) and we have fell short as I said BUT its not in an "absolute state". Comments like that are ridiclious.

24.) 07 Mar 2023 12:50:43
Coops we are talking about kent tho on this post that’s why I mentioned kent. Also I would say it’s Alfredo Morelos that’s turned into the whipping boy on this site these days.

Tav has never been a good defender or ever will be and not a captain either serial loser. (Since you mentioned him) that’s my opinion am entitled to it as much as any other person on here.

You seem to question everyone opinion on here. ?.

25.) 07 Mar 2023 15:32:42
It's a simple one for me, Kent and Morelose are at the end of their contracts. If they want to go elsewhere then good luck to them. We simply need to sign better to replace them and there are plenty of better players available on free's at the end of this Season!

26.) 07 Mar 2023 17:16:16
It is an absolute state. We are as far away from them squad wise as we were in gerrards first season. Wonder what happened or who joined in that period that's had such a detrimental affect.

27.) 07 Mar 2023 17:59:10
Alright Huey, I'll go along with your assertion, and take the bait!

So, 2 trophies in 4 seasons (we'll go along with your time frame), in a 2 horse league?! You think that's acceptable? That's 2 trophies, out of a potential 12 domestic we competed in, and you're ok a club our size has only managed to win 2 of these? That's ok for you? Jesus wept!

There you have it. Continue to support failure, make excuse after excuse for our numerous failures, and all you'll ever get back is continued failure. You're now one of the Rangers supporters who are accepting of 2nd best. You can deny it, or tell me I'm talking "crap", but that's where we are nowadays with many supporters.

You would rather have a go at supporters like me, who see things as they are, who lay out cold hard facts for you to consider, but instead of accepting what's right in front of you, you'd rather be in denial and give it the old 'you're talking crap' patter! ?‍♂️?

Huey, we're on a par with St Johnstone in the number of trophies won over the last few seasons. In fact, go back a little further, and they're a trophy a head of us in the past 7 seasons. St Johnstone?! How is that acceptable?!

28.) 07 Mar 2023 21:50:37
For me since the new manager came in Kent has showed glimpses albeit glimpses of the guy we know.
I think the change of playing through the middle has been great but has been put out wide again.
Give him that freedom and let him do what he does is the way forward for me he will get back to his best unless his heart is set on somethn.

29.) 08 Mar 2023 13:48:48
If Kent and Morelos are leaving at the end of the season I would let them rot on the bench till they go.

27 Jan 2023 11:24:30
From a twitter feed called - All information on Standard de Liège, All new over Standard de Liège:-

As announced yesterday, Standard have turned down an offer from Rangers for Nicolas Raskin. This amounted to 500,000 €, while Standard wants 2 million as well as a percentage on resale.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 27 Jan 2023 11:32:01
Personally I don't want to spend £2m for a player as well as add ons for a player we can get for nothing in 6month.

2.) 27 Jan 2023 11:36:35
Standard are never going to get 2 million for him from rangers when we can get him for free in the summer.

3.) 27 Jan 2023 11:42:17
They're at it!
£2million is taking the piss. Also seen they want a sell on clause. I know Rangers getva lot of stick over transfers but we cannot agree to that when we get him for nothing in 4 mo the time.

4.) 27 Jan 2023 11:48:04
2 mill is a steal for Raskin, he is exactly what we need in our midfield. we are still playing for 2 cups and potentially the league as well as a guaranteed champs league group spot if we take the league too, buying him now is a solid move.

5.) 27 Jan 2023 11:56:47
If true we should park this and let the boy join in 5 months.

6.) 27 Jan 2023 12:21:55
If they want 2 they've no chance personally I think 1m is fair given the length of time left on his contract.

7.) 27 Jan 2023 12:52:18
Raskin we will see you in the summer

Ger55 won't pay that.

8.) 27 Jan 2023 12:57:53
No chance we should be paying 2m.

9.) 27 Jan 2023 13:15:59
As much as I want the boy here, right now, there's not a chance I would give them this. If this is true, they can do one?!
Did this not happen before with a player we could've signed on a pre-contract, and their current club at the time, was demanding a sell on fee?

10.) 27 Jan 2023 13:26:34
Big Ben, yes hears wanted a 20% sell on for Souttar.

11.) 27 Jan 2023 13:43:25
Beale has came out and said no pre contract contract signed, fingers crossed we can get it down now, seems a lot of sources wrong on this one.

12.) 27 Jan 2023 13:53:48
That's the one John. Cheeky persons!

13.) 27 Jan 2023 14:08:38
Has Sakala peaked in value and it's the right time to sell him? If Whittaker replaces him then maybe the risk is he loses value quickly, all about money these days . But somebody is going soon to cover the incomings cost, this board see it that way. tie and blazer priority people.

14.) 27 Jan 2023 14:18:30
A lot of people ain’t understanding this we won’t get him for free in the summer as he is 21 so development fee will be paid whatever that amount is but it won’t be free.

15.) 27 Jan 2023 14:34:01
The thing is if he dose not sign a pre contract anybody else could nip in and do the same, coarse tbey want too make money on him

Its a risk you take

If you really want him you pay a fee

Unless 100% certain of a pre contract signed by Raskin too us or he really wants to become a gers player
We risk any other team doing the same

Its all Weeleying n dealing

Both party's want tbe best they can get for themselfs.

21 Jan 2023 14:36:02
The following translated from RTBF ( Belgium Football info ) :-
Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin is at the end of his contract at Standard de Liège next June. Much ink to flow around the negotiations, but nothing has been put on paper for an extension. The people of Liège must therefore separate from the 21-year-old median during this transfer window or risk seeing him leave for free in the club of this choice in June.
After interest from Racing Genk and Antwerp in particular, HLN indicates that an agreement exists between Raskin, who preferred an adventure abroad, and Glasgow Rangers. The vice-champion of Scotland should therefore do the same with the Liège team if he wishes to obtain the signing of the talented player. Contacts are not yet established between the two clubs.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 21 Jan 2023 14:42:21
Nice post!

Big fan of the term Vice-Champion ?. Sounds like some rubbish you’d get on sky or bt on the stats board.

2.) 21 Jan 2023 14:48:21
Hes the only one I'm excited about getting other two I'm hopefull will be big for us but they're unknown at our level. Has lowry been sidelined this year for not working hard enough?

3.) 21 Jan 2023 15:04:58
Unfortunately Lowry is fighting with Tillman and Arfield.
And both have so far chipped in with goals and assists. Though Arfield for me isn’t a starter anymore.
I’m a huge fan of Lowry and fingers crossed he gets a chance and grabs it with both hands.

4.) 21 Jan 2023 18:14:43
Had heard a rumour he had an attitude coming back and wasn't trying as hard as others.

5.) 21 Jan 2023 19:11:18
I'm guessing no more reliable than daily rebel or the sun ?.

6.) 21 Jan 2023 19:36:06
Mr potato Lowry not exactly fighting with them if he's not getting a fair shot . Think I hate with rangers a first team player can have a bad coue games and stay in just look at lundstrum recently ? lol or sands yet if a boy like Lowry has a small dip he's not good enough not up to standard has to do more does his teammates think he deserves a chance.

Your ment to build youth up not tear them down I still maintain if it wasn't for advocate we would never have had Ferguson for all those years same with McGregor with leguen foreign managers put faith in youngsters we don't only need to look at how our players are getting on in Italy Belgium our youth are starting to realise Scottish football is a graveyard for youth.

7.) 21 Jan 2023 20:47:49
I'd agree gofor I also think it's a symptom of us not winning games early anymore if we had games to bed early bring on the youth.

8.) 21 Jan 2023 21:23:46
Gofor when did gio put faith in youngsters.

9.) 22 Jan 2023 01:16:19
Storm did I say anything about gio?

Read again I said advocaat and leguen.

07 May 2022 18:18:07
Arfield signs one year extension.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 08 May 2022 13:25:42
Lowry signed until 2025 also. Both will serve us well next season.

Like others, I've criticised Clements team selection against Celtic and RC.
I actually thought his line up looked OK before the game last night.
Even though it never panned out that way.
Plenty say this player or that player should be dropped.
So who would you play then?
Who replaces Tav?
Who replaces Goldson?
Does Souttar get a reprieve?
Who replaces Barisic?
Who replaces Lundstram?
Who replaces Lawrence?
Who replaces Cantwell?
Who replaces Silva?
Who replaces Dessers?
Can you trust Roofe to play 90 minutes?
Does Sima get a reprieve even though he missed a couple of chances last night.
What happens for subs? If we don't trust any of the above to start then how can we trust them to bolster the attack if we need a goal or to shore up the defence?
Let's see your team for Sunday without those who have let us down recently?
I would make it as the following:-
Butland
Sterling, King, Balogun, Sterling Cloned 1
Sterling Cloned 2, Diomande, McKinnon
Sterling Cloned 3, McCrorie, McCausland
Subs. Not got a clue
Should be interesting. ?.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 18 Apr 2024 13:46:12
Butland in goal and 10 x Sterlings outfield for me. easy win.

2.) 18 apr 2024 13:47:05
shouldnt have to replace any of them, they're all paid very well to play for rangers

they should be able to.

3.) 18 Apr 2024 14:33:57
just because they managed to get paid by a club doesn't mean they are good enough.

4.) 18 Apr 2024 14:38:04
My team last night:
Butland
Goldson Lundstrum Souttar
Tav Raskin Sterling
McCausland Cantwell Matondo
SIMA

Lost all hope now guys, never saw us getting that poor after the old firm comeback. Massive kick up the arse needed to win this cup semi.

5.) 18 Apr 2024 14:58:38
That would be perfect, Ally?.

6.) 18 Apr 2024 15:16:44
Roofe was horrendous last night tho I don’t blame him entirely should never have started.

Cantwell and Lawrence wood ave been as well watching it with me offered little. Since mwell we ave stopped playing through the midfield and playin hopeless long balls. Less said about Tav and Goldson the better.
I don’t think Celtic will drop enough points now but all we can do is win every game and hope for the best but I am not confident of that. that's the reason I said league was over.

7.) 18 Apr 2024 17:26:56
Mph, I get we can't drop full team, why has pc consistently played silva when matondo has shown more in 2 cameos than silva has shown in a long time, felt even young mcausland showed more desire in 10 mins last night than he has ever shown. Why did he start roofe over dessers, he was never match sharp to start in such a huge game. The biggest question I ask of pc, why did he start barisic after blatantly pulling a sickie v celtic that's angered me more than anything. Why on earth did he start wright v celtic? Imo he's got some huge calls wrong, game after game. We physiologically lost the plot in a must win game v celtic, that we just had to win, the players also knew this imo. The last couple of games we've been trying to rush everything because of previous results because we've not had a poacher to kill teams off. I think it was more evident in January that we needed a striker more than a midfielder, could have used tha diomande cash to get a striker in same kind of deal. Mph am not trying to throw it in your face about striker thing, we had different opinion on it no big deal mate, but feel we as a club got it wrong, we will never know just my opinion. Said in a post couple days ago only silver lining is the pc will now know about the players at his disposal. Hope you and family are well tattie ?.

8.) 18 Apr 2024 18:19:23
Honestly don't know why cantwell gets so much stick.

One of 3 players that actually care and his play style is totally hampered by the dross surrounding him.

18 Apr 2024 11:35:34
People are needing to calm down ( myself included ) .
These players haven't thrown Clement under the bus.
THE DAMAGE WAS DONE UNDER BEALE.
Playing catch up early doors in a 2 horse race is never advisable.
Clement to his credit ( as any decent manager should ) has come in and steadied the ship.
He then won us the League Cup.
He got us through the groups of the EL.
And more importantly from a fans point of view, he got us into a fight for the league.
Does this then impact on the demands of the fans? Of course it does. We let our feelings and emotions run wild.
But this chance coincided with a dip in form by Celtic.
Rangers have now had 2 dips in form. One at the start and one right now at the business end of the season.
We forget the core group of this squad has let us down over and over. As fans ( some of us ) we always live in the moment.
But if we had taken a step back ( like some ) we would realise:-
Clement inherited a squad of injured players.
Clement inherited a squad that in his words weren't / aren't fit enough to play his intense brand of football.
A defence that always has a mistake in it. A strike force that needs numerous chances. A midfield that misses a quality playmaker.
We can all moan about the lack of strikers being addressed in the January window.
But does any of us know if funds were available or that Clement had a chance to identify a target within our means and would fit the profile going forward?
He shipped an under achieving signing in Lammers out to the Dutch league and he's now ripping it up - that's football.
We signed what looked an exciting talent in Cortes - he gets injured.
We've had players come back from injury and then break down ( Lawrence, Jack and Roofe ) .
We've had players who were performing well and were an integral part of the team then get injured ( Yilmaz, Balogun, McCausland, Sima and Raskin ) .
To his credit Clement was managing game time back from injury perfectly and still getting results.
But it eventually catches up when some are running on empty, others underperforming and we don't have the squad to cope and give some a rest.
I firmly believe Clement will have learned more about this squad in the recent poor results than he would during the positives.
Who he can trust going forward?
Who is up for the fight?
Who has possibly run their race at our great club?
After a horrendous start this season was a free hit and the players have possibly blew it ( miracles can happen ) .
I can't see Clement giving them a chance again.
If he does? He will go the same as his predecessors.
And that would be a crying shame as I think we have the chance to do something special with him in charge as long as he gets the correct backing.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 18 Apr 2024 12:04:43
Very well said MPH????.

2.) 18 Apr 2024 12:04:59
Can't keep blaming Beale Mr P. Course he has to shoulder some of the blame but then so does PC. As stared earlier we can't even do the basics things right like passing! We don't look fit nor do we look organised. That Beales fault to? You can't keep playing the same guys who are out of form and expect a different outcome. It's not going to happen. I now fear for Sunday.

3.) 18 apr 2024 12:05:05
how has the past few weeks got anything to do with beale ?

if clement changed how they play then beales influence was gone, are you saying he allowed it to come back again

because if yor now blaming beales men

then you must praise beales men for doing reasonably well in europe and winning the league cup, surely, imho, clement has totally lost the plot these past few weeks

players playing then dissappearing completely only to show up again for 10 minutes then go again, at least 3 of last nights subs should have started the game, and in oldfirm game at least 2 subs should have started the game

telling us last night was an " improvement" tells me he has gone for this season, and needs a rest,

4.) 18 Apr 2024 12:09:31
Sorry but dropping points to Motherwell Ross County and Dundee has cost us at a vital point in the season. What Beale did was corrected when we went top of the league.

5.) 18 Apr 2024 12:14:56
Apart from the out of contract players, another 5 at least must be shown the door as like u say they can't cope w the managers style of play.

6.) 18 Apr 2024 12:33:54
Mph the thing is we've no money to back Clemont were going for 2nd place every season form the foreseeible future i'm afraid we needty accept this that's that mob all ready got 30mil in bank for summer.

7.) 18 Apr 2024 13:24:30
Amato89, was coming in to say exactly that mate. We needed that c. l money, it was absolutely crucial to us going forward. We all know how much of a job pc has on his hands with rebuild, where's the money for that coming from? Pc needs to take some stick for last night also, as I believe he set us up negatively in a must win game. Lundstrum was constantly dropping back in to a back 3, leaving us a man short in the middle of the park, it was clearly affecting us in there, he didn't change it till around 75th minute why? For all Brenda Rodgers faults you won't see them play in a must win game like that or at all. Ppl will come back and say Lundstrum was covering the full backs, but remember it was a must win game were we had to take risks, imo we played with a fear of Dundee.

8.) 18 Apr 2024 13:50:46
Clement has come in and had to work with a squad of players that are lacking the attitude and skills to win the league they have displayed this trait often enough to be recognised. Hopefully we can sell Butland for a few quid, Ridvan also should fetch 4/ 5 million so I’d reckon that’s about 17/ 18 million . Those that are struggling with injuries and simply cannot manage 20/ 30 games a season just say good bye. Tavernier, Goldson and Lundstram must be shown the door they have continually failed to deliver when the going gets tough. We will see between 6/ 10 new arrivals in the summer here’s hoping they have the tools to do the job. Every season is just like the last just not good enough.

2 games in hand done and gone.
The chance to go 2 points in front has ended being 3 behind with an inferior goal difference.
Clement defending the indefensible last night after the match. Which you can understand why.
He will ( or should ) still believe we have something to achieve this season.
The problem is convincing the fans that this bunch of players still deserve our unwavering support.
And an even bigger problem is getting the players to show the desire and fight the fans demand.
The synergy Clement talks about between fans and players is evaporating game by game.
Last night was another honking performance.
No leadership, no drive and more importantly no quality when required.
How many balls were passed out the park or to an opposition player.
And when a ball did find a player, they couldn't control it. The old put down - second touch was a tackle to try and retrieve the ball.
That's 2 teams - one 2nd bottom and one the bottom team of the split - who've came at us and given us a game.
But apparently we only struggle against teams that sit in!
And the goal that was disallowed for Dundee summed up Tav and Goldson as a right sided pairing as the freekick actually went through the wall between them! Criminal.
We now have a huge game against Hearts on Sunday.
The fans will turn up in numbers as always.
The big question is will the players turn up for us?

Great Post my friend, my thoughts are that hiding is easier for this group.

2.) 18 Apr 2024 08:04:44
Also criminal is stupid freekick given away by Lundstram and just like goal at Ross Cty - after Butland makes a save it is opposition player first to rebound our defence does not have brains nor legs to get there to support keeper - lucky it was offside but just another error on our long catalogue list of calamities at back for this season -PC looked very frustrated at side of park most of game - he is trying to make a purse out of a sows ear - so let's be honest the players we have are mostly not good enough and the serial losers need to go and take their apathy with them.! Enough is enough
Mr PH the players have not turned up in big games so far over last few seasons so only hope he can get a tune from them in cup.

3.) 18 Apr 2024 08:10:08
First 3 lines of your post sums it up mate
No wonder the East side are all laughing
And to think we all thought we had a real chance this year with this lot even the east side believed it for a minute too!
Wow ? no other words.

4.) 18 Apr 2024 08:17:38
MPH ans Asathor, I completely agree, sadly I would have to answer NO MPH as I don't think they have the guts to turn up on Sunday, as always though, I hope I'm proved wrong.

5.) 18 Apr 2024 08:48:45
Celtic have McGregor and O'Reilly and we have Lundstrum and Goldson and that is the difference. Clement knows what is wrong and so surgery is required in the summer to remove and replace them. Silva hasn't worked and he's made a few wrong calls. I would have brought in goal scorer at Christmas but that in itself would not have stopped this collapse. But, Clement is the right guy for us. There were plenty of disappointments during Walter's time too.

17 Apr 2024 18:22:08
BoyBlue - you asked for the stats in an Old Firm game for our midfield against theirs.
Pass accuracy:-
Lundstram - 85%
Diomande - 79%
Lawrence - 58%
O'Reilly - 79%
Iwata - 76%
Hatate - 73%
Lost possession:-
Lundstram - 18 times
Diomande - 13 times
Lawrence - 13 times
O'Reilly - 13 times
Iwata - 9 times
Hatate- 12 times

But it was the definition of a game of 2 halves.
And Celtic worked hard for their draw. They made more tackles, more clearances and won more duels.

MrPotatoHead

1.) 17 Apr 2024 21:51:21
Cheers mph, poor stats for lawrence he's actually another one who isn't cutting it for me tbh.

17 Apr 2024 15:02:48
It's not over until it's mathematically impossible.
Tonight will be a roll up the sleeves and get stuck in type of performance on a park that has been deemed playable but is still a ploughed field in places.
It doesn't matter if we believe or not that the title is still winnable.
It will be down to the attitude and belief of the players.
With a SC semi-final on the horizon will some of these players have the mentality and see that as a target rather than a potential league title?
Clement himself has a wee bit of redeeming to do after questions have been asked about his last 2 team selections.
But is the big man being hampered by instructions / advice from the medical department?
From a supporters mindset it's all still to play for.
The $64,000 question is - do the players have the same mindset?

MrPotatoHead

1.) 17 Apr 2024 15:23:39
Agree mph, a win at all costs, a good performance to go with it would be nice but ultimately we need the 3 points and that’s all that matters.

2.) 17 apr 2024 15:59:09
attack from minute one, no let up, get into a rhythm and no let up,

put down a marker and grab some confidence and kudos back

tora tora tora.

3.) 17 Apr 2024 16:38:41
We need three points tonight, win the five games draw against them, title will be ours.

4.) 17 Apr 2024 16:39:26
MPH ; what do you mean he's being hampered by the medical team if a player is not fit or will cause more damage by playing with an injury so be it, i know we have a few players who never seem to be fit but that's the player who says he isn't up to playing the medical staff can't force them.

5.) 17 Apr 2024 17:17:14
Back to school for you, My star! Honestly, you would think you'd be keeping your head down after the single fish you've been spouting.

6.) 17 Apr 2024 17:50:18
I'd like us to start keeping clean sheets again because we will score goals and goldson has to recapture his form as he. ll prob start as balogun has been ill.

7.) 17 Apr 2024 18:02:20
What I mean is that in the past we have rushed players back and they have played 70-90 minutes right away.
Clement - understandably - is taken advice from the medical department and is hampered by players only being available for 10-20 minutes here and there.
I don’t mean the medical department is going against Clements wishes. Or vice versa.
We have a duty of care.
That hasn’t always been the case.

8.) 17 Apr 2024 18:16:16
Correct MPH if we are going to lose title at least go down fighting.

To we can still win it you always need to believe or no point playin or watching football.

Glad yo age made an appearance my star as you went awol since you said we will win title easy.

9.) 17 Apr 2024 18:53:28
Tom, exactly. hopefully no more poor defending. team sheet will be interesting.

10.) 17 Apr 2024 19:00:47
My star how do you work this out sorry I’m lost I’m guessing your making it out Celtic will lose more points somewhere else.

11.) 17 Apr 2024 19:21:00
Win the 5 games and a draw against them won't mean the title is ours unless they drop points.

12.) 17 Apr 2024 19:30:55
Brilliant raisetheroofe lol maybe you'd be better keeping your head down eh, win the rest draw against them league ours.

13.) 17 Apr 2024 19:31:42
Storm more ? never counted on us losing against motherwell or Ross County.

14.) 17 Apr 2024 19:33:23
Storm you clearly missed my posts then not be loke you.

15.) 17 Apr 2024 19:37:47
Raisetheroofe maybe you should stop waving the white flag eh.

16.) 17 Apr 2024 19:42:36
Spot on OT, Star is incorrect. ?.

17.) 17 Apr 2024 19:53:19
Math not your strong point i see my star.

18.) 17 Apr 2024 20:47:49
My star you're having a mare here, back to school you go. And while you're there, see if they have any classes to stop talking jimmy white.

19.) 17 Apr 2024 21:00:54

I don't think it really matters who our kit manufacturer is.
Tops will always fly of the shelves.
Best deal possible for the club is all that matters.

Isn’t Rocky the Hibs player that got them thrown out the LC after he was played whilst suspended.
And then Hibs tried to return him to his parent club as they deemed him not good enough but didn’t realise they had triggered his buy out clause after he played a certain amount of games for them??.

It wouldn’t surprise me the way he has started his Rangers career, Fork.
Couple of commanding performances in the next round of the Europa will see his stock rise further.

Where have I said the UB are fine singing sectarian songs, Storm? I’ll wait.
And you have said you would ban the UB on many occasions whether it affects the atmosphere or not. But are quite willing to invite 7500 Celtic fans with their bike to create an atmosphere.
Irony hypocritical overload???
P. S. Onion Bears is Tim Patter???.

Still not grasping it.
We beat Celtic at a full Hampden in the SC semi in extra time after playing extra time in Europa a few days before in front of another full house.
Tell me again how fans do or don’t come into it?
And wha5 parameters come into play?

It isn't true though, TT.
You are merely stating an opinion.
Same with you, Storm.
If they can't play in front of fans then why do we win games at all?
Being bottle merchants is totally different.

We got to a Europa League final with fans, won a Scottish Cup with fans, won the league cup with fans.
We came from 10 behind this season with fans only for the players to crash and burn when it mattered.
No fans has feck all to do with it.
If fans were the answer we wouldn't win any game in a stadium full of them.
Our issue is that the players at our disposal don't have the ability / drive to perform over the course of a season. IMHO.
