New one year deal for Balogun is basically done. He wants to stay and the club wants to keep him. Few things to finalise but he'll be a Rangers player next season. My guy is expecting it to be announced in the next couple of weeks.
1.) 15 May 2025 10:19:15
Absolute no brainier. He's the best defender in the country. If he's managed correctly he's a great squad player to have. I would only use him to rotate the squad for European games and things like that but being able to bring in a back up player of his quality is a lucky thing to have.
I'd still like 2 new starters with souttar nsiala and balogun as back up. If the fernandes deal is complete I think we should loan him out for a season.
2.) 15 May 2025 10:24:19
Mistake in my eyes.
3.) 15 May 2025 10:28:41
Mental, absolutely mental.
4.) 15 May 2025 10:34:14
I'd definitely like balogun to stay on for a final year yes he had his niggles but usually bounces back pretty quickly from them, a lesser workload as mentioned will help protect him from the injuries as well
Can cover anywhere along the back 4 and is a great pro to have around as we transition.
5.) 15 May 2025 10:41:01
It isn't mental so long as he is 5th choice with a vastly reduced playing time.
You can't bin everyone in 1 window.
6.) 15 May 2025 10:45:59
It's a no risk deal no brainer. He'd not be first choice he'd be back up and is a great role model to settle new players, hopefully a youth coaching role too.
7.) 15 May 2025 11:09:55
Sentimentality should not outweigh common-sense or progress yet again - love the big guy but do we really want to improve and challenge? Stick him in a time machine take 10 years off him and re-sign - that's only way he should be back again - sorry but fact.
8.) 15 May 2025 11:14:39
I'd be giving him another year, low wage massive experience for signings coming in the summer.
9.) 15 May 2025 11:21:56
Think he's great to have as a back up tbh.
10.) 15 May 2025 10:24:55
Love him. but this is stepping back the way. Wage better spent on a younger talent.
11.) 15 May 2025 11:34:13
Very sensible decision if true. He won't play much. Will be on less than Leon King is on right now and will provide back up and dressing room presence for the new boys. He is a player who "gets it" and well liked in the dressing room.
We will see mass change in the squad and club but that doesn't mean the full squad will be changed and I'm sure all of us would rather see Ben Davies and Robin Propper leave before we see Balogun go. Davies and Propper leaving gives us 3 CB choices in Souttar, Nsiala and Balogun. Bring in a new 1st choice RCB and LCB and there you have 3 backs ups and improved the squad.
12.) 15 May 2025 11:34:36
Would keep for another year. His experience would help bring on some of the younger defenders already here and any coming in. He gets what it takes to play for Rangers.
13.) 15 May 2025 11:38:10
Great back up going forward for a year, amount of games and our injury record it's a no brainer.
14.) 15 May 2025 11:38:54
He's still the quickest CB on the books and a great guy to have around the youths and kids would be excellent to coach the likes of Nsiala and Fernandes . for Jefte we would need to bring in a wizard or the like to make him a defender.
15.) 15 May 2025 11:40:45
The way I see it, Balogun is our best CB, which is a blessing and a curse. We won't gut about 20 players this season as much as fans want, we have too many fires to fight for that. Having an experienced player who understands the demand of the club and the fans will absolutely help the new manager even if it is the extra year. Good business for me!
16.) 15 May 2025 11:50:45
Low wages Balogan is a no brainer used sensibly.
17.) 15 May 2025 11:52:58
Has a wealth of experience. Good asset for young defenders to learn from.
18.) 15 May 2025 12:03:34
He was brought back as 5th choice CB. Now in the fans eyes he's 1st choice. Just shows the regression of the squad in the last 3 years. I personally like him I should add.
19.) 15 May 2025 12:04:22
Our best CH. One of our lowest wages. Even if he's injured half the season. Its a no brainer.
20.) 15 May 2025 12:04:49
Great servant and well worth another year as a back up. We now must go out and bring in a first choice CB to play with Souttar. Also think he will bring on players like Nsiala.
21.) 15 May 2025 12:07:01
On the fence with this one. ?.
22.) 15 May 2025 12:16:14
Definitely keep him would get rid off most soutar is a scare don't get what anybody sees in him can't defend corners or set pieces propper can't adapt to scottish football same with nsaila need someone who's not scared of getting hurt in there.
23.) 15 May 2025 12:26:14
I like big Leon but it is time for him to move on, as long as we are bringing in at least two new centre backs . To say he can play anywhere across the back 4 is nonsense, he hasn't played right back for years, has never played left back and in fact struggled as the left centre back in a back three recently .
He was in tears at the end of last nights game which might suggest that he's not been offered another contract.
I would say of it comes down to him or Propper I definitely would keep him.
24.) 15 May 2025 12:34:17
It's a yes from me. Probably our best defender. Just manage him correctly.
25.) 15 May 2025 12:43:31
Easy decision he's not on much and is a very useful squad member, He was supposed to be a break glass in case of emergency this season and he's wound up playing a much more important role. That tells me he's more reliable than most ahead of him.
26.) 15 May 2025 12:54:13
We all said last season he would be back up and look what happened ??♂️ we need younger and better in my opinion but what do I know. Great servant but players miss out on European squads for these so called "backup" players.
27.) 15 May 2025 13:23:32
A big yes from me. Love the big guy.
28.) 16 May 2025 02:48:04
Anybody with an ounce of sense knows he's the best defender we have, age means nothing, ability does, rolling contract every season for me until he can't walk anymore lol.
14 May 2025 09:15:05
Ianis Hagi is still interested in staying. He loves being a Rangers player. His dad thinks he should be playing in a top 5 league and is pushing for an end to negotiations with us.
1.) 14 May 2025 09:24:09
His auldman must know his boy is average at best.
2.) 14 May 2025 09:25:05
His dad's delusional.
Hagi is never a top 5 league player.
The guy's living off his father's reputation.
3.) 14 May 2025 09:39:52
Useful squad player if we can get his wages in line with the new structure, if not all the best to him.
4.) 14 May 2025 09:45:06
He wouldn't be the first person to tout some of our average players to play in the top 5 leagues. He's 100% delusional.
5.) 14 May 2025 09:45:52
The Hagi show on repeat.
Wants a move, performance drops, don't get a move, wants to stay, performance improves, wants a move.
6.) 14 May 2025 09:46:18
He's had his time and is a squad player at best.
7.) 14 May 2025 09:50:31
Playing in a top 5 league isn't as much of a stretch as people think it is. Hagi may not be able to play for a top team in those leagues but could definitely play for a bottom half team in italy, spain, germany or france. Dessers, Bajrami, cortes, hagi, butland have all played in a top 5 league in the last 3 years. We even loaned cedric itten to a bundesliga team.
8.) 14 May 2025 09:55:40
It does seem crazy that his old man thinks he should be going to a better league but he's got form for it. Guess it's not impossible that a relegation fighting team in France, Italy, or Germany could be interested. Spain didn't work out great last time. Don't think he'd be an automatic starter, though.
9.) 14 May 2025 09:59:56
Not good enough.
10.) 14 May 2025 10:09:13
Tav he played in a top 5 league playing at alaves and he struggled to be a starter the one league I think would suit him is the Seria A.
11.) 14 May 2025 10:24:26
EHL- seriously? If there is a player who has been mistreated recently it's Hagi! Nowhere near as one sided as you make it for me mate.
12.) 14 May 2025 10:24:40
Never a top 5 league player yet hoffenheim and gladbach want him.
Interesting.
13.) 14 May 2025 10:43:07
His old man is utterly deluded.
14.) 14 May 2025 10:51:18
Matondo was once at man city. Make of that what you like ?.
15.) 14 May 2025 10:58:35
Hagi always has been, and still is, the best option for the number 10 position at the club. If it was up to me, he would be given a new contract with a relatively high fee built in so if he is wanted by someone else we get top dollar for him.
16.) 14 May 2025 11:03:21
Hagi will like the wage he's getting here, that's why no move has materialised in the past, thanks for your service son but time for both of us to say goodbye.
17.) 14 May 2025 11:05:24
I honestly disagree he's capable of playing top 5 league.
He's genuinely slower than Mertesacker, his technical ability does not make up for his complete lack of physical attributes.
18.) 14 May 2025 11:08:02
Will also add he couldn't play for a rubbish team in Spain and Italy already.
19.) 14 May 2025 12:39:44
Exactly muscatin but you get some stupid posts on here.
20.) 14 May 2025 12:46:31
Aerodonn when he played in italy he was very young and he made 22 appearances in spain last season. i'm not sure how much minutes those appearances equate to but my point is he can play in a top 5 league for a lower team in those leagues. I'm not bothered whether he stays or goes i'm just pointing that he already has done last season and would probably manage to get another move to a lower team in italy/ spain or wherever again i don't see why people think that is so unlikely because if he did get a move to a top 5 league for a lower team it's really not that big a deal.
21.) 14 May 2025 12:47:47
I actually don't mind Hagi and he's a different option.
22.) 14 May 2025 12:51:36
Been at club too long he needs to go and get him iff the wage bill.
23.) 14 May 2025 12:51:43
We have the memories.
24.) 14 May 2025 13:25:58
He doesn't deserve a new contract.
We need a good clear out this summer. No room for sentiment.
25.) 14 May 2025 13:50:03
Hagi and Cheisa came up through the same Fiorentina U19s when they both got promoted to the first team Hagi made 2 apps Cheisa 36 apps if you're good enough you're young enough.
Fiorentina rated Hagi much much higher under a great coach in Pioli known for developing young talents and given them chances.
I just personally think he doesn't have the physical attributes to play for a top 5 league side even for a bottom side he doesn't have the legs.
If he leaves guaranteed he falls off the face of the earth.
26.) 14 May 2025 13:50:37
Turned into prime zidane when on loan amd not in the side at start of the season. Now he's actually back available for selection he still cannot hold down a regular starting slot. Same as his whole Rangers career.
27.) 14 May 2025 14:01:17
Correct EHL.
28.) 14 May 2025 14:36:36
Good squad player. Never a week in week out starter. Depends in wages etc.
29.) 14 May 2025 15:24:12
Always thought he had the potential to become a really good 8 with his range of passing and workrate but unfortunately doesn't have the pace to play in the forward areas. Wish him the best of luck wherever he lands.
30.) 14 May 2025 17:25:21
Lightweight and slow we got approx 15 mins out of him, his Da is delusional.
31.) 14 May 2025 18:15:52
Regardless of Hagis ability, dont want him, don't need him.
Definitely better players for much less money out there.
Time to move on from most of this squad.
32.) 14 May 2025 18:20:28
Ianis isn't daft. Tells the fans what they want to hear. Gets his dad to work as his mouthpiece for what he doesn't want attributed directly to him.
12 May 2025 10:06:08
Not too surprising but conversations have come up about Danilo leaving. His representatives will sit down with the new manager, whoever and whenever that is, but they want some sort of assurances that he'll be more involved. If not, he still has a decent reputation in Europe. Would involve the club taking a loss on him, though, and he got a pay rise when he joined.
1.) 12 May 2025 10:56:14
He's a strange one. You would think there's a reason for why Clement and Barry have not trusted him
Personally I think too much pressure on him now after the injury, no game time and price tag. Best if he goes for both parties.
2.) 12 May 2025 11:36:13
Yes Northern, big wage rise at Rangers, 2021 and 2022 as an Ajax player he was £2,400 weekly, left Ajax as he was out of contact and moved to feyenoord on a wage of £9,400 weekly, moved to Rangers 2024 and his wage is now £26,000, my only reason on why he'll not be a Rangers player next season.
3.) 12 May 2025 11:43:43
@aerondonn - agreed. Always seems competent enough. He's certainly not a complete disaster but he's way down the pecking order with Barry and you can see he's getting frustrated with it.
4.) 12 May 2025 11:50:07
Danilo is a very good footballer, but is only really effective in a specific set up (similar to Bajrami) .
There's a good bit of interest in him from Holland, however suspect we'll take a hit on any potential deal.
5.) 12 May 2025 11:54:23
Aerondonn, Clement would have had Danilo playing regularly if not for injuries.
6.) 12 May 2025 11:57:32
Just my tuppence but I'd be starting Igamane at 9, and Danilo at 10 every week personally.
7.) 12 May 2025 12:11:31
Yo Jimbo so would i mate, Danilo is a very good footballer and brought the best out of Igamane a few months ago.
8.) 12 May 2025 12:26:32
Danilo, Butland and Tav are my top three to go this summer.
9.) 12 May 2025 12:46:29
Who signed off for Danilo at £26k a week? Absolutely crazy???.
10.) 12 May 2025 13:05:57
Maybe his agents should be told that he would be more involved if he was fit more often , not his fault but he's had a broken jaw, two long term knee injuries and a rib/ shoulder injury all of which have kept him out for weeks at a time.
He might suit the new manager better and after a injury free close season he should be fit to compete with others for a place.
11.) 12 May 2025 13:37:29
I knew he had an injury that kept him out for a few games but Clement was playing it down then he played 3 games in a row and has barely managed more than 20 mins on the pitch since. Clement was adamant he wasn't carrying anything.
12.) 12 May 2025 13:46:42
Mark, if Gerrard returns as manager Tavernier is our captain next season mate ?.
13.) 12 May 2025 14:21:48
Clement would still be playing Propper if he was still here. Tells you everything you need to know about Clement's judgement.
14.) 12 May 2025 14:31:22
My star that's crazy
Never realised he was on so much what a jump on wage and Gerrard be where near this one ?.
15.) 12 May 2025 14:51:59
Yately sure that's when Beale was dealing with that along with Bennett.
16.) 12 May 2025 15:16:32
My Star, I'd be surprised if it was Gerrard next season.
BTW, good post re Danilo's wages. Quite eye opening.
17.) 12 May 2025 15:23:45
Yately prob same person who gane matondo and davies 28k.
18.) 12 May 2025 15:38:00
U r correct my star. It was a Beale Bennett production
Biggest issue we have is Danilo got five year deal and we still owe 3 million plus add ins achieved.
19.) 12 May 2025 15:46:10
If we could get £2m plus and £26k off wage bill I would be more than happy with that outcome. He does have talent but we need players who we can rely upon and his injury issues haven't allowed him to get a consistent run.
We can't afford players like him and Lawrence taking up more than £2m a season in wages not being able to play majority of time.
20.) 12 May 2025 16:27:49
Fifty but we owe in excess of three million. So that is minimum we should be aiming for.
21.) 12 May 2025 16:37:21
No. matter what happens next season, one thing is for sure, we CANNOT HAVE TAV AS CAPTAIN OR RIGHT BACK.
How many managers has he seen come and go and whenever you do evaluation on anything you always look for common denominator.
Well one is staring you in the face.
22.) 12 May 2025 16:53:50
Personally really like him as a footballer he is miles better than Dessers but has never really got going here.
Might be better (rather than taking a huge loss) loan him back to a club in Holland, similar to Lammers and hope he finds his form again.
23.) 12 May 2025 17:00:39
So we take 2m when we owe 3m. that really doesn't make sense.
24.) 12 May 2025 17:06:33
Richy, unless we have a root and branch clear out, these serial losers will see another manager sacked.
25.) 12 May 2025 17:07:14
I'd be happy John to take say £2m for Danilo woth add ins that take us to what it is we still owe if achieved.
We need to cut our losses.
Thing is with the reported wage he's on he won't get that many places and certainly not in Holland. Maybe turkey or Saudi.
26.) 12 May 2025 17:09:56
On Danilo, we will more than likely also need to subsidise his salary if he's sold.
Fork example if he takes a £10k drop in salary, we'll probably have to pay him £500k for each remaining year, so that would be £1.5m we'd have to pay out of the money we get in and as John says we still have a lot pay up - so any deal will likely be a loss.
This is why there was such a discrepancy between the fees quoted for the sale last window and the value represented in the accounts.
Said it a number of times, but MB set our club back by years.
27.) 12 May 2025 17:43:27
If Danilo is paid 20k weekly more than the 5-6 we are offering other players just now it a million a year, if we sell him for 2 million we lose another 1 million, then we also have to spend 2-4 mill on a new striker who may or may not be good
Financially it would be sensible to keep him and play him, esp if played to his strengths and the new manager can progress him as a player, if so we may just get 5 mill back in a year.
28.) 12 May 2025 18:23:41
Honestly can't believe what I read sometimes regarding some of the contracts
It's unreal no wonder we haemorrhage money.
29.) 12 May 2025 18:41:13
Can't see many clubs wanting to buy, best would be to loan him out, hope he does well, but new manager might give him a go, I do think selling dessers is more important given his contract, wage and age.
30.) 12 May 2025 18:59:45
Richy1471, what a daft thing to say that Tavernier is the common denominator for failures or managers getting sacked . I get that a lot of fans don't rate him and are frustrated that he is still here and captain BUT, Warburton signed him then Murty, Caixinha, Gerrard, GVB, Beale, Clement and now Ferguson all picked him every week and made or kept him as captain . They are the ones that had the power to do something about it if they saw him as a liability or a bad captain and yet they didn't which says what the professionals think of him . Ironic that the only one to drop him was Clement and even he had to go back to him as others showed that they couldn't stay fit long enough to take his place.
05 May 2025 23:26:39
Held off on this one as my source doesn't know the current status. Apparently we were keeping tabs on Hugo Bolin at Malmo earlier in the season. I was told we quite liked what we saw when we played them in the Europa but not sure if that was a Koppen or Clement one or how high on the shortlist he was. Take it with a pinch of salt but wouldn't be surprised if some of the more ITK members here had heard his name thrown around too. Thought I'd throw it out there as we're talking transfers again!
05 May 2025 14:38:36
Interest in Propper from the Netherlands. Couldn't move in January unless back to Twente because he'd played for two teams and they weren't interested, but apparently we're not anticipating any problems shifting him. He's happy to move on and we're happy to let him go.
1.) 05 May 2025 14:57:05
Northern yep that appears to be the case.
Alma's r very interested as are twente.
2.) 05 May 2025 15:14:29
Good news.
3.) 05 May 2025 15:30:57
Nevermind. he will never play for a bigger club.
4.) 05 May 2025 15:42:22
Seems like a nice big guy but not for the Scottish game wish him all the best.
5.) 05 May 2025 16:01:31
Good to hear. Not good enough defensively for our league.
Hopefully we don't make too much of a loss.
6.) 05 May 2025 17:43:38
If Feyenoord are interested as reported, what about a straight swap Propper for Kasanwirjo, no fee in either direction.
7.) 05 May 2025 19:09:11
Delighted if he moves he's absolutely brutal.
8.) 05 May 2025 23:52:32
Potential price?

Will Still leaving Lens and in their report about it L'equipe have said he has rejected us.
1.) 18 May 2025 09:06:59
Another one!
Our interview process must've been like speed dating.
2.) 18 May 2025 09:13:45
Talking about interviews EHL, how did your interview/ assessment thing go bud for your new post?.
3.) 18 May 2025 09:26:56
All good Fork - move in to my new role after the cup final.
4.) 18 May 2025 09:27:43
Lequipe say he recently turned down Glasgow Rangers. no time scales to that and no evidence. but he is returning to England to be closer to his girlfriend who has encephalitis.
5.) 18 May 2025 09:58:00
Gd stuff EHL, well done bud??.
6.) 18 May 2025 10:19:54
Good stuff ehl.
7.) 18 May 2025 11:31:13
Congratulations EHL. Does this mean you will have to watch what you post on here now, my friend? ?.
07 May 2025 13:53:20
Not necessarily much of a surprise but none of the interim coaching staff are expected to be retained. Very much being viewed as a "thanks for stepping up when needed" situation. Media contracts were put on hold rather than ended.
Apparently that extends to Charai too, which makes it strange he was given a 3.5 year deal a few months ago.
1.) 08 May 2025 11:42:20
Northern, I asked question yesterday had any one heard we are considering given the interim team a 4 month extension.
2.) 08 May 2025 12:39:36
John I read that at first though as them staying in place as the only management team. However now I think you mean as backing coaching staff for new manager. Perhaps to help him bed in?
3.) 08 May 2025 12:51:15
Angus no I mean till we appoint the new manager and his team. Preferred option will not sign till we r taken over.
4.) 08 May 2025 14:03:33
4 more months of Ferguson and Co!
Jesus wept.
5.) 08 May 2025 15:40:43
Did someone not say on here that the takeover was likely to be in the next 6 weeks, So what is it 6 weeks or 4 months. ?????????.
07 Mar 2025 14:23:23
Obviously didn't happen in the end because we kept our strikers but apparently we were looking at Louis Munteanu if we were recruiting in January. Not sure if Dessers, Igamane, or Danilo moving on in the summer would open that back up or if we'll be shopping in other markets with a new manager and board.
No idea how good he is but here are some YouTube highlights.
1.) 07 Mar 2025 14:46:26
One of a numbers of players identified through our new Agency partnership in the Balkans - looks to be a lot of talent in the area.
2.) 07 Mar 2025 15:16:12
I would honestly hope we keep dessers beyond the summer ?.
3.) 07 Mar 2025 16:05:29
SWS - we'll need to revise our approach to our wage structure then.
4.) 07 Mar 2025 16:07:31
I know the player very well. He is young and potentially could make us profit, I did not mention him on the site because he would not come cheap. He will cost more than 5 millions and I think Fiorentina has priority buy-back for him.
5.) 07 Mar 2025 16:59:10
Is he better than big dessers soccerfan ?.

He is very good, but not necessary a number 9. Besides, he is only 22. If we can get him, in 2-3 years we would double our money.

Dessers is in no hurry to leave. Despite a bit of abuse, he starts every game and is having the most productive years of his career. He was called up to the Nigeria squad last year. He turned down a move to Atlanta United last season.

We need 12 players tbh. Cerny, Kasanwirjo, Fernandes all expected to go back to their parent clubs. Dowell and Davies expected to go permanently. Lawrence, Balogun, Hagi all out of contract. That's 8 already.

Terzic is an interesting one. Only ever managed at Dortmund and been unemployed for a little while now. Does he want to work?

Personally I think we should move on unless he completely blew everyone else out the water. Would be 11th June and that's assuming he's accepted and ready to go. Could be weeks after that or he could reject. That's getting too late to be working things out in my opinion.

Balogun has been offered a new deal. Hadn't heard that about Lawrence, but admittedly didn't ask as it never even crossed my mind.
