I don't understand how Goldson is untouchable in this rangers team I would drop Goldson and put souttar on the right with balogan or Davies on the left. What's everyone's thoughts on this.

I’d play one of Goldson or Souttar not both, we should have signed a 1st choice top class centre back in his peak to partner one of them instead of a £6m sub.
But as in here and now I’d prob try a back 3 with Sterling Goldson and Davies.
If we play back 4 I’d try Goldson and Davies again to see if he can cut it. I feel Souttar always let's us down in the air. Most goals we concede come from Souttar failing to win an aerial ball. Whether direct or secondary.

100% Souttar over Goldson for me.
Goldson cost us the goal against Celtic with añ amateur defensive header, Souttar used as a scapegoat. Goldson is never held accountable for his mistakes.
I've never disliked a Rangers manager so much in my 50 years that I hoped we dropped points to get rid before it's too late. Until now.
And that doesn't sit right.

Stevie, think it's unfair to blame Souttar, he is after all playing on the wrong side of defence for him.
He does however seem to be very close or involved in most goals conceded this year, maybe just unlucky.

Souttar has been involved in just about every goal we concede. Just because he’s good outwith that we can’t keep shipping goals in. If it was Davies making the mistakes he had then folk would have been calling for him to be dropped.

My thoughts, Goldson is our best defender, Souter has been guilty of some major mistakes and can go to sleep for a moment in a game.

Gdog I’m not skating Souttar atall, he’s a good big player, more than decent back up in Scotland but never a 1st pick rangers defender. Just my opinion mate.
In twrms of Dayi g it’s a laughable comment? Go back and look at all goals conceded this season and u will see a pattern in which Souttar loses an aerial ball he should win either directly causing a goal or resulting in a second phase which conceded the goal.
Just watch them and come back to me mate that’s all I’ll say. ??
Bar72 I played a lot of games as a youngster at centre defence, Patrick thistle youths was highest I went but I was a good player. It doesn’t matter what side foot u are if u play centre defence centre mid or centre forward mate. Only matters as a winger or fullback and tbh I played a lot at left back when I’m right footed when I played 2 years above my age so couldn’t get one of the 2 shirts at centre back I got left back.
Absolutely fine mate so that’s not an excuse. Genuinely it doesn’t matter.

The reason “top teams” as u call them play with left footed is cause they have the money to go out and buy them as they’re not easy to come by or cheap due to not being many around.

Oh aye n not to forget van dijk who’s prob been best centre half in world in the last 5 years. Right footed on the left.

Man City win treble last year with 2 right footed centre backs from stones akanji and dias.

Of course your allowed your opinion John, it’s highly valued on here, and your not wrong in what your tryna get across.
Clubs want left footed players in left footed positions. I think that’s always been the case though when possible.
But to call my post nonsense, that’s different from an opinion mate.
U mentioned England and I gave u their centre backs. Both right footed. Normally always have been.
I know what your getting at mate I do.
but it’s not the case that right footers can’t, and don’t, play left centre back.
Certainly a club like ours would struggle to attract good left footed centre backs due to the shortage of them and the premium they cost.
We’d be blew out the water for them financially by lesser clubs in bigger leagues.

MPH another good post full of good substance and knowledge. I agree with you fully the UB give great support home and away but do some daft stuff but every club has an element like that. The UB are just an easy target. Keep up your good posts MPH.
