Been thinking about the talk of Raskin going in the summer, the lad will want to play in one of the top leagues but will also want to play in Europe, can't see any of the big clubs in England or Germany going for him, would he want to go to a mid table team, maybe more opportunities in France for him, closer to home as well.

I hope we can persuade him to sign a new deal, give him the captain's armband and a promise if a decent bid comes in for him we wouldn't stand in his way. I would hope he can see this as a new era, and want to be part of it, also don't know how settled he is which could also factor into it.

1.) 30 Apr 2025 11:52:52
Don't know where you get the idea top clubs in England won't want him think you will be surprised come the summer.

2.) 30 Apr 2025 11:56:26
The lad is the best of a bad bunch the value of our players will never the be anything in comparison with that lot until we start winning titles and that's the harsh truth it's tike we start having bragging rights against them. My opinion also we need to stop simply the best being played also until we overtake them again.

3.) 30 Apr 2025 12:17:24
Even moving to a lower/ mid team in the English prem will give him a better chance to the move higher, looks at Andy Robertson and VVD they didn't move straight to Liverpool, So Raskin might have to follow the same route,

4.) 30 Apr 2025 12:23:04
If we get £10+ for Raskin then I think we should accept it. Help the rebuild. Also he has had his injury problems, value could plummet if has another spell out.

Sell at their peak value.

5.) 30 Apr 2025 12:39:50
We should be building a squad around Raskin not selling.

6.) 30 Apr 2025 12:40:57
Nonsense Ryan, European football gets far more attention than anything in Scotland.

7.) 30 Apr 2025 12:50:50
Bee, I think we will get more than a tenner for Raskin.

8.) 30 Apr 2025 12:51:58
Best of a bad bunch? You don't play for Belgium unless your quality. Give him armband and build around him. No brainer.

9.) 30 Apr 2025 12:53:03
Building around Raskin would be ideal, if he can be convinced to sign a contract extension. If not sadly I feel he's best gone now rather than in his last year. He is excellent and the fact he's managed to get a Belgian cap whilst at Ibrox should be a real positive, which I hope would help drive up his value.

10.) 30 Apr 2025 13:07:58
We have done well over the years and the last 3 years what have we made from players? Exactly nothing.

11.) 30 Apr 2025 13:11:00
I think he's worth a lot more than a tenner.

12.) 30 Apr 2025 13:24:19
Raskin and Souttar will both either sign a new deal or be sold.

Believe both are holding off on signing new deals until takeover / manager is complete.

13.) 30 Apr 2025 14:18:13
I'm sure any players happy to stay and sign will want assurances and or wait till takeover is outlined and manager announced/ agreed.

14.) 30 Apr 2025 14:20:29
Ryan how much did we receive for Bassey after a few stand outs in Europe?

15.) 30 Apr 2025 14:48:35
The problem with buying foreign players is that ultimately they have to be sold to keep them happy. We're not building a team around Raskin or any other foreign player that is sought by other clubs.

16.) 30 Apr 2025 14:55:05
That's one player Mystar, that does not make it the rule. Ryan is correct here. We have done well in Europe for years and made very little in trading. We have actually spent more on players than we have made selling them. Celtic have made a fortune selling players because of domestic success, not because they got pumped in the champions league. We do have to start winning titles.

17.) 30 Apr 2025 15:09:13
We had to pay players off last season that is why zero funds came in Cathkin and some can't understand that.

18.) 30 Apr 2025 16:01:34
I get that as well Mystar, however zero funds came in predominantly because we don't get bids for our players. How many players have we sold due to us doing well in Europe? You could count on one hand with a few fingers missing. Celtic typically do not do well in Europe but still make millions on player sales, because they win titles. We need to start winning titles to raise our stock.

19.) 30 Apr 2025 16:12:42
Raskin was mom for Belgium last time out, worth more than some give him credit for. A good season next year as captain and were talking 20m +, i believe.

20.) 30 Apr 2025 16:16:25
£10m John as you know ;)

21.) 30 Apr 2025 16:16:58
Raskin didn't look out of place playing with de brun etc. would be very surprised if he was still here after the summer. similarly wouldn't be surprised if the fee was lower than most of us would like.

22.) 30 Apr 2025 17:11:15
Raskin dominated in last 2 OF games, fenerbace and man of the match for Belgium! The wee guy is worth twice what the Belgian dumpling across the city was signed for!

23.) 30 Apr 2025 17:32:32
Yes bee I knew exactly what u meant, site needs some humour on occasion.

24.) 30 Apr 2025 19:10:19
Souttar should be desperate to sign a new deal, he'll never play for a bigger club than Rangers, with his injury record and his lapses in concentration he is lucky that he gets a game for us.

25.) 30 Apr 2025 20:49:52
Agree John!
I do think he will go in the summer probably if we get an offer of around that value. Good return on what we paid.

20 Feb 2025 22:49:49
With many clubs in England now owned by US interests, what's the thoughts of a possible move to the epl in the future, these groups are essentially there for profit and we and hate to say it that other mob would provide an even bigger spectacle to that league.

Money talks after all, and all the old problems that were raised on this topic would be brushed aside.

The other possibility I could see for the recent talk of this takeover could be the setting up of a European league, got a feeling there's more to this than we know.

Shota

1.) 20 Feb 2025 23:20:07
Good point there Shota. Money does talk and Rangers in the EPL would mean £££ for US investors.

2.) 21 Feb 2025 00:24:25
Would the EPL want an anti British team in the league?

3.) 21 Feb 2025 03:35:54
Just a pipe dream.

4.) 21 Feb 2025 05:32:08
Spot on white horse ?.

5.) 21 feb 2025 07:13:30
no reason why they wouldn't want another " foreign club" in epl

the vast majority are foreign after all.

6.) 21 Feb 2025 07:15:00
I honestly think the ship has sailed on this one - unless something happens with their TV deal.

More hope of joining a version on a second tier European league with a B team in the Scottish league.

7.) 21 Feb 2025 07:15:53
0% chance. EPL don't need or want us.

8.) 21 Feb 2025 07:18:25
There are plenty of teams in EPL with Irish roots. So no issues from that stance why both us and them could not move to EPL. However it would potentially mean the end of the four home nations. It's why the Olympic football is such a ball ache and only one nation plays in (I think) an under 23 event.
There would be huge pressure from Europe to dissolve Scotland, England, Wales and Northen Ireland and play as GB. I know Wales have a couple of teams in the English leagues but that is historic and has been accepted but Rangers and the other mob is a different scenario.
An expansion to CL or EL and maintaining national leagues is best we can get unfortunately.

9.) 21 Feb 2025 07:34:33
Lets get back to dominating our back yard! Different point but taking the gers aside, does anyone else find the EPL really boring? There's no Henry's or Okachas, no Gerrards or Essiens, no Scholes, Djorkaeff, Cantona Bergkamp or Le Tissiers. Lots of brilliant athletes but not much in the way of brilliance. I often turn it off.

10.) 21 Feb 2025 07:47:02
They are not Irish other than walfrid, formed in Glasgow not Ireland with some Irish migrators playing for them, play in Scotland and in a Scottish league, their Scottish, though they fly that many flags they could be many different ones.

11.) 21 Feb 2025 07:55:39
64 blue that its the issue: the home countries each get a vote in UEFA and a national team as we are separate. put us in EPL and that is no longer the case. I also thought that UEFA rules didn't allow it but may be wrong on that.
welsh teams are in English football because there wasn't a national pro league there at the time so England was the only place for them to play.

12.) 21 Feb 2025 08:30:28
No chance of us getting in EPL. More chance of independence.

13.) 21 Feb 2025 09:22:58
Cross border games are more than a thought. they are a plan. as evidenced at all levels. requiring more income and less UEFA.

14.) 21 Feb 2025 10:16:33
Rangers and Celtic will never be in the EPL!

15.) 21 Feb 2025 11:11:06
Can't see this happening in the near future anyhow.

16.) 21 Feb 2025 11:58:51
How was that, I barely watch football now mate.

It's such a boring game to watch. Since wingers became extinct and forward partnerships, essentially 442, it's went right downhill.

Look at Leicester played a version of 442 (4411) and won the epl. It's all gone to **** mate.

17.) 21 Feb 2025 12:50:55
Rangers and Celtic in EPL will never happen, this pipedream crops up every now and then, just all wishful thinking.

18.) 21 Feb 2025 16:44:12
Half the prem clubs are American owned. That will probably increase in the future. Imo it is absolutely not off the table.

19.) 21 Feb 2025 17:23:12
I reckon in years to come Rangers and Celtic will eventually leave the Scottish premiership but not in most of our lifetimes.

After a few shandy's and couple of pims and a pie in the garden (right posh up my way) with a couple of fellow bears we were discussing if we need to curtail the practice of bringing in loans we can't actually get on long term contracts.

Cerny is in my eyes a good player, would be great to get, but totally out of our reach, the only winners will be Wolfsburg, sima, Tillman even him with the hair to some extent all in the same boat.

Now hopefully with new owners with money, these type of stopgap signings need to stop in my humble opinion. Can't be progressing other teams' players now, yes it has helped us in the past but going forward we need to nurture our players with the trading model totally anchored into the club's method of functioning. What's the banter on this?

Shota

1.) 18 May 2025 18:42:07
If we can get a player on loan and his performances help us win trophies I don't care.

2.) 18 May 2025 19:17:23
Correct JFM.

3.) 18 May 2025 19:36:48
If a loan player makes the team any better then we go for the loan player its simple maybe in future we have a right 2 bye option and a set price.

4.) 18 May 2025 19:48:11
100% guys if a loan player that we can't afford other than loan helps us to the league then it's a no brainer.

5.) 18 May 2025 20:16:40
Agree jfm.

6.) 18 May 2025 20:17:30
If we had a few extra mill in the bank then we could have signed those players and they would have improved our squad and most likely sold on for profit after a season or two. Maybe that's where 49ers clout can make a difference.

7.) 18 May 2025 20:17:33
Would always be for a quality loan signing Shota I get it's frustrating when they become out our price range but in fairness tillman was a cracking deal from the club he chose not to come therefore we were compensated I believe, sometimes these guys individual quality could be the difference in big games just look at wee Vladimír Weiss for example.

8.) 18 May 2025 20:33:49
But that's my point we haven't won anything or even been that good with these recent big loan moves, a different direction is required.

9.) 18 May 2025 20:47:22
Why would we do that? If you can get a player better than what you've got just for a year, you do it.

10.) 18 May 2025 22:12:28
And each year we have replaced that quality loan player with another loan player of similar quality. it is a win/ win for all parties. we get a quality player, the quality player tries his hardest as he wants to stay or get a better move.

11.) 19 May 2025 09:06:24
And usually at a much reduced cost that a similar quality player would have cost.

12.) 19 May 2025 09:32:33
I'm sure the ones saying this wouldn't say t if we got mess or roanaldo for first half of the season.

13 May 2025 20:28:23
Heard on the grapevine, there installing some chimneys at ibrox, white smoke gerrard, black smoke Ancelloti, nae smoke McInnes.

Shota

1.) 13 May 2025 20:56:53
No pyro no party as they say. What if it's blue smoke is that the Union bears?

2.) 13 May 2025 21:45:29
Too much smoke if they appointed Mcinnes, they'd burn the big hoose doon???.

3.) 13 May 2025 22:03:37
What if it's rainbow smoke? Julian Clary.

13 May 2025 17:28:20
The burglars of Glasgow better watch out if big Duncan makes a return.

Shota

1.) 13 May 2025 18:08:53
Royal blue always.

2.) 13 May 2025 18:46:19
Just give the big man a sleeping bag at the bottom of the marble staircase and even the pigeons will think twice about flying around the stadium.

3.) 13 May 2025 18:59:49
Big man is actually Doo Daft Cheers??.

12 May 2025 18:44:26
With all the the Stevie g talk does anyone know of other managers who have returned to a club and been successful.

Shota

1.) 12 May 2025 19:02:16
Assuming that's a tongue in cheek post but the obvious one is Sir Walter plus there is Mourinho at Chelsea and the current boss of the other mob and even Neil Lennon who readily come to mind.

2.) 12 May 2025 19:04:56
Walter Smith.

3.) 12 May 2025 19:04:40
Walter smith would be the stand out i'd say.

4.) 12 May 2025 19:10:55
Really lol ?‍♂️.

5.) 12 May 2025 19:11:25
Murty.

6.) 12 May 2025 19:23:25
Come on, mr obviously, looking to see some knowledge for other managers.

7.) 12 May 2025 19:38:09
Walter smith and across the city rodgers 3 glaringly obvious ones.

8.) 12 May 2025 19:39:14
Ancelotti.

9.) 12 May 2025 19:46:00
Rodgers. Sir Walter Carlo Anceloti. Chris Wilder Paul sturrock.

11 May 2025 17:53:11
Good result against the sheepo, second half much better, good to see no manager talk but what about the other big news, new pope in town, heard he has connections to red bull, or something else with wings.

Need to sell simply because of his contract length, age and wage, have we learnt nothing, if a decent offer comes in, we need to accept. We must start to trade players properly if this club is to evolve.

Can't see many clubs wanting to buy, best would be to loan him out, hope he does well, but new manager might give him a go, I do think selling dessers is more important given his contract, wage and age.
