Anyone got any idea who the three trialists are who are lining up against Cambridge today? No making stuff up please.

Theswagman

1.) 16 Jul 2019 11:46:13
All young boys freed by EPL teams.

2.) 16 Jul 2019 11:47:16
I heard it was snap crackle and pop.

3.) 16 Jul 2019 14:11:20
Rachi from spurs, young boy from man city is the only two i know.

4.) 16 Jul 2019 14:55:57
Royal blue they r already signed.

5.) 16 Jul 2019 15:24:51
John, i'm sure Albert rachi was a trialist today. He has not signed yet.

6.) 16 Jul 2019 16:14:19
Heard from a reliable source it was Larry, Curly and Mo?

7.) 16 Jul 2019 16:16:30
Whatever. He was a named player in 9-1 win against Huddersfield.

8.) 16 Jul 2019 19:06:53
My boy thinks one of the loan players was Kane from Liverpool. He got text from mate who played for Dundee
Not sure the rule re playing another clubs player as a trialists.
I know we did it with Ruth last year.

9.) 16 Jul 2019 19:09:47
Royal blue young boy hosler we signed from Man City played mate.

10.) 16 Jul 2019 20:04:56
Royal blue, Rachi and Hosler have both signed and both played for the u18s today. The 3 trialists were playing for the development squad also today. No idea who they are though.

11.) 16 Jul 2019 20:57:13
Awww my bad musta saw something and got confused. can't see anything online about rachi signing though.

12.) 16 Jul 2019 23:15:13
1 of the trialists was Max Hutchinson, son of former Scotland player Don.

13.) 17 Jul 2019 00:43:19
John he was a trialist in the 9-1 game as well says so in the news real regarding the game if u just read it all will be clear.

14.) 17 Jul 2019 09:12:18
Ok Alexander. Very unusual to name him and not put him down as trialist in Huddersfield game.

15.) 17 Jul 2019 11:07:50
Think it was Tom, Dick and Harry.

08 May 2019 13:10:42
Apparently we are after Zander Clark for £1m? Anyone else think that's madness when Liam Kelly is apparently available for £50k? Clark is decent but is he any better than Fod or Alnwick?

Theswagman

1.) 08 May 2019 13:52:03
Agree mate.

2.) 08 May 2019 15:09:40
He got beat from 40 yards at the weekend so I hope we’re not paying £1m.

3.) 08 May 2019 16:20:23
Its'crazy' that would even have to pay 50k for Kelly!

4.) 08 May 2019 16:40:03
I would rather we re-signed our former young goalkeeper, liam kelly.
Said before on here that kelly should never have been let go to livingston. He's the natural successor to allan mcgregor as far as i'm concerned!

5.) 08 May 2019 18:23:49
Supercooper he was not let go. He left at end of contract as we signed McGregor.

6.) 08 May 2019 19:12:41
SC11 not one person in the coaching team gives two hoots who you think is McGregors natural successor. Your like a broken record going on and on and on about Kelly. HE LEFT, HE WANTED TO GO. Change the record.

7.) 08 May 2019 19:44:29
L17 correct mate. If we kept or signed everyone coops said we would have a squad of 80.

8.) 08 May 2019 20:29:34
JBoy 21 highly rates them all ;-) apart fae Shinnie he has always stated his dislike of Shinnie or has been consistent in saying he was not being good enough.

9.) 08 May 2019 20:40:38
Chill we have 2 McCrories lol.

10.) 09 May 2019 04:04:53
If we sign him it'll be for nothing remotely close to £1m. Behave.

11.) 09 May 2019 07:19:15
We aren’t after him for £1 million killie have priced him at that.

12.) 09 May 2019 10:19:54
Would help if he played for killie Dee haha he’s st Johnstone goalie, imo liam kelly would be ideal replacement, great keeper with a great attitude.

13.) 09 May 2019 10:22:24
Doesn't play for Killie mate.

14.) 09 May 2019 12:25:20
Exactly Jboy and in my honest opinion I truly believe that they’d all be future captains 🙈.

15.) 09 May 2019 18:59:17
I don’t believe that anyone on the coaching team gives two hoots about what anyone thinks on here!

Is SC’s opinion less worthy than the rest on here?

Anyone else concerned with the lack of transfer activity or even serious links to decent players? So far Hagi is our only decent signing and even on him the jury is out to some extent. A ropey goalkeeper, a 38 year old striker and a youth left back. We need 3 players minimum that can go right into the starting lineup. I think Gerrard still has too much faith in the flops that have let us down twice (at least) before - Tav, Goldson, Kent etc. I would sadly be surprised if the first starting lineup of this season has more than one new signing in it.

Theswagman

1.) 02 Jul 2020 13:56:32
Nope, I’m not concerned. I have trust in our management team. Rangers will be in the best possible shape for next season.

2.) 02 Jul 2020 14:14:48
No as that transfer window hasn’t opened yet so I think you need to have be a little patience.

3.) 02 Jul 2020 14:31:02
Ropey goalkeeper? You know a lot about him Swagman's?
And you're well up to speed on U23 football in the EPL?
Good to see you're already back to normal slating Gerrard before a ball has even been kicked in anger.
P. S. you should read Andy Halliday's opinion on Tav and Goldson. I take that over yours. 👍.

4.) 02 Jul 2020 14:53:49
Here we go he’s back 😱😱the happiness hoover!

5.) 02 Jul 2020 15:38:17
aye were having a nightmare did the tranfer window not just officialy open yesterday? we will sign stronger players. bassey and the keeper have had to come in to fill spaces left by halliday flanagan and wes/ alnwick. there called squad players.

6.) 02 Jul 2020 16:14:00
Would be lying if I said this about Basset but definitely feel it's a goalie upgrade too. Good signing and happy Hagi here to stay. Give it time mate!

7.) 02 Jul 2020 16:18:45
Theswagman, you're referring to jermain defoe the 38 year old striker mate. I've got no doubt at all that defoe will play a big part this season in regards to winning the league or not. Yes he'll more than likely do most of his stuff coming from the bench, but what a goalscorer to bring on, to pull you out a hole. Even though he's about to turn 38 later on this year, he's still a very fit guy and is easily the most natural/ best finisher in scottish football! 👌For the record after my wee rant about defoe, i'm not worried about the lack of transfer activity so far, as you put it mate, as i'm very confident gerrard will sign a few class acts, that will make the difference to our starting 11.Patience pal, as there's plenty of time!

8.) 02 Jul 2020 16:27:16
68 - where does this trust in our management team come from after two failed seasons and the signings of Ejaria, McAuley, Flanagan, Lafferty, Sadiq, Ojo, Grezda, Coulibaly, Worral, Firth, Jones, Barker.?

Did they have us “in the best possible shape” the last two seasons with those signings?

We are honestly deluded, it’s like a Steven Gerrard cult.

9.) 02 Jul 2020 16:28:45
Tupac - yes I have seen a lot of him, he played for Hearts, I watch all the goals programmes on Sky so I see all the League One goals, and he’s had 2 Scotland caps. He’s hardly a mystery man from Eastern Europe.

The young English player route we’ve gone down plenty times as a club over the years, I don’t remember Dodoo, Windass, Aribo, Ejaria, Rossiter or even Kent (bar one 3 month period which convinced us to waste £7m) tearing it up.

I don’t need to hear Halliday defending his pals, I’ve seen them play with my own eyes for years.

10.) 02 Jul 2020 17:25:11
It's been a while but thewagsman is back to his usual negativity. Moaning about our transfer activity and it's the 2nd July 🤔
Let's wait and see who we sign before throwing in the towel?

11.) 02 Jul 2020 17:25:58
Swagman for years you’ve come on here with the scatter gun we get it you hate Gerrard it’s personal with you it’s too vociferous you were banned rightly so for an OTT. Post now your back same again so why don’t you give us solution your manager wish your signing wishes within reason it’s never ending with you So we wait with baited breath for the golden nuggets from you.

12.) 02 Jul 2020 18:14:22
I didn’t realise Wagman had been banned and have to admit he hasn’t been missed! I am open to all opinions but the dislike to our current Management is where we are with him and he wants them to fail🙃🇬🇧.

13.) 02 Jul 2020 19:18:38
Opinion of an Awful player, nice.

14.) 02 Jul 2020 19:38:45
Tupac

Why should you take Andy Hallidays word for Tavernier and Goldson? Surely if you watch Rangers regularly you have formed your own opinion on them?

15.) 02 Jul 2020 21:27:11
@swagman I personally try and watch a lot of football not just rangers and I’ve seen a decent amount of McLaughlin (the gk) for Sunderland and he is better than foderingham and alnwick. Defoe being signed is great news as I believe he will stay with us after retirement also. Hagi has the ability IF played in his best position and I can’t say a lot about the young boy other than we beat some decent sides to him. It’s July 2nd give the club some time to bring people in before declaring it an all out emergency.

16.) 02 Jul 2020 23:32:12
I noticed Defoe’s legs were gone at times last season. Having played way past Defoe’s age I know what I’m talking about, when you reach that age the legs just can’t do what the brain wants, it’s frustrating, vey frustrating, but the signs were there last year for sure. Not saying he can’t still do us a turn, only that when the legs are gone and you don’t have that sharpness you are not the same player.

17.) 03 Jul 2020 01:06:35
Swagman, I am definitely not deluded. Some players work out, others don’t. Rangers have had a huge rebuilding process to undergo since Gerrard and his team arrived. Gerrard has not had lots of money to rebuild. He has had to move on a lot of players. Some players he has had to keep until their contract expires because no-one is willing to buy them from us. He has had to bolster the squad with loans and it is a risk.

I accept that some of the players he has brought in haven’t worked out. However he has brought in potential like Aribo and Hagi and these guys will come good and make us lots of money in the future. I suppose the bottom line is I believe in those that are leading and managing Rangers and you obviously don’t.

18.) 03 Jul 2020 01:26:52
SGL / Muppet. My understanding is that Defoe adds so much off the field, particularly if you are a striker. Learning from someone of his quality will benefit the team hugely and that is what he offers.

19.) 03 Jul 2020 09:46:08
I have my own opinion Biff316.
And currently, Goldson along with Helander would be in my opinion the best CH pairing at the club. 👍
The other 2 are still young and naive at times as was shown after the winter break when individual errors cost us. And I don't see us buying another CH this summer.
As for Tav, he's been made captain and I'll support any Rangers captain.
Again I don't see us buying another RB. One thing about Tav us he never hides. And I've stated many times, Rangers sides in the past had leaders all over the park. So when things were going wrong after the winter break where were your Jack's, Davis etc to drive the team on?

20.) 03 Jul 2020 10:00:52
68 I agree I’m sure he has loads of experience and advice to offer and will help the younger players so much and is great to have around just saying his legs are going and he cannot perform as he once did. Phenomenal player in his day.

21.) 03 Jul 2020 11:41:46
A wee message for you Theswagman.
Get behind gerrard, the management team and the players like we all should/ must do and stop the ANTHILL MOB from getting 9.75 in a row. We need everyone connected with the famous to be singing from the same hymn sheet, in this upcoming penultimate season!

I'll reiterate what i've said on here for a good while now. Gerrard has definitely improved us and if we can cut out the stupid dropped points against the so called lesser teams, i truly believe that gerrard will win the league as rangers manager and this season coming! Ignore the noise from breeze block boulevard, because we're honestly not far away here and they know it!

Here’s a question - if you could strengthen one position, what would it be? Not asking for names, just if you could upgrade at any position or player type.

For me it would be a midfield enforcer type. All the teams we struggle with, Killie, Aberdeen, Hearts, Motherwell - they all play a very physical game. Walter Smith filled his second Rangers side with players who can handle that, whereas wee have too many nice footballers.

See when we go to play Killie away and have Dicker and Power kicking lumps out of us, which midfield 3 do you think would be more effective

Kamara-Davis-Aribo

or

Docherty-McRorie-Jack?

I think the first 3 would look great in Europe but would be posted missing at Rugby Park. I think the second 3 would get stuck in and do the dirty work to let Kent and Hagi etc play.

There has never been a great Rangers team which was 100% Laudrups. You need an Ian Ferguson, a Lee McCulloch, an Alex Rae. You need boys that will stand up. In the current squad, not counting the boys on loan, we have Jack and at a push maybe Arfield, Buff and Katic.

Theswagman

1.) 04 Mar 2020 17:55:49
Another brown and gough types are what we have been needing as all this trying to find goldson a partner is not working. Why not try another partnership and see if that works as maybe its goldson who is the problem.

2.) 04 Mar 2020 18:17:21
A leader of men. Regardless of what position they play someone who is a born winner.

3.) 04 Mar 2020 18:17:48
2 quality centre halfs and one potential captain without doubt.

4.) 04 Mar 2020 18:52:00
I’d love to see a John Terry type in defence and a Roy Keane type in midfield I appreciate there’s a limited amount of these guys hope Ross Wilson got finger on the pulse.

5.) 04 Mar 2020 19:18:52
I would get a complete centre half who can read the game, strong in the air, tough in the tackle and can play a bit. I have no idea where we could get one of those though😂

All our centre halfs have good points but unfortunately they all have major flaws too.

6.) 04 Mar 2020 21:16:34
1 position coach.

29 Feb 2020 18:20:06
Yet another shocking first half performance domestically. Absolutely no idea why we can’t identify and correct why this keeps happening. Formation and style of play clearly need tweaked from what works in Europe.

If the Mhanks go out would you not love to get Copenhagen in the next round? Good away day, definitely beatable plus would be funny to beat the team that put them out.

Theswagman

1.) 28 Feb 2020 09:59:40
Totally agree Swagman. We’ve already beaten a better Danish side this season 👍.

27 Feb 2020 21:19:53
We should be trying to sign this guy Nelsson who is playing for Copenhagen. Only 21 and looks a fantastic player.

I find it weird when we are talking about Shankland people saying he’s not worth the £4m or so Hearts apparently want. What price do you put on winning the league? Because with him up front, we win the league. And then get the champions league money that comes with it.

I’m a director in a very profitable multi-million pound business and I work on the commercial side. The numbers involved in this deal, as a businessman, all make total sense.

“Mackay will sort his attitude issues out” - aye because a known racist, anti-Semite, ex-Celtic player is the exact right person to prep you for playing for Rangers. Christ almighty.

People comparing him to Souness and Smith…you are absolutely clueless. Souness won everything as a player, Smith had a far better CV as a coach. Beale has done nothing. Honestly man, absolutely no ambition, no standards in our support anymore. 20 years ago we would have chased the board for something this poor, now we are celebrating like some rookie manager is a coup.

Mark44 - I won’t be booing him unlike some of the clowns booing the team this season. I’m within my rights as a season ticket holder to question the credentials of how a man with 20 odd games as a manager is qualified to manage our club. Standards have fallen hugely since the days of Walter and Advocaat if you think his CV is good enough.

GVB - I saw every single game Gerrard managed for Rangers and in only ONE game in 3 and a bit years did he play anything other than 4321. Hardly a tactical genius.

He did the dirty on us with Gerrard and has done it again to QPR. Standards have fallen so low that we are accepting a man of this calibre as our manager.

Terrible appointment. The so called “brains behind Gerrard” only knows one formation, and by the time they snaked us and ran to Villa (Beale was guilty of that too remember), other teams had figured us out.

He will be the next Ian Cathro or Austin McPhee, a well thought of coach who lacks the personality to carry off a manager’s role. Very different job setting out the cones and doing the tactics board to being the head honcho.

The best that can come of this is that it’s over quickly, and this daft experiment doesn’t bleed into next year. Hopefully his inevitable failure means Wilson goes out the door with him.

I realise I will get a backlash for this, but I’ll see you in a few months when I’m proven right.

What I will finish by saying is that regardless of the above, I will as I always do, give the team my full backing. I did it for Gerrard, did it for Gio and I’ll do it for Beale.
