Thought I would put down some reflections, no doubt most won't respond as they will be thinking the same thing but here goes.

First and foremost, well done Ajax. A fantastic football team who played great football and dropped the tempo second half and still had plenty in the tank.

McLaughlin - did fine, made some good saves keeping score down, was not at fault for any of the goals.

We showed some fight in the second half even with the Jack blunder which led to the 4th goal.

The goals - 1st disgraceful. A centre half who ducks a ball from a corner (ducking once again), needs dropped. Zonal marking needs to be dropped as well, simply not working. 2nd unlucky deflection, third fantastic solo goal (Tav looked injured defending it), 4th Jack sold the ranch.

Reality check - Ajax are buying players 15-20 million, they have players worth 30million upwards who are fantastic technical footballers.

Minuses - didn't see much fight in first half after Saturday. Tav injured so no RB to replace and also seemingly no right footers for set pieces. Kent woeful. Matondo not much better than Wright who was also woeful.

For those saying sack Gio. who do you bring in? I don't believe he has lost the dressing room but he certainly was not backed by the board properly and there must be more than meets the eye behind the scenes re takeover.

Positives - King. Showed a lot of maturity when coming on. Borno had a fair game too and deserved a goal. Colak, very much the team man, ran all the way back to console Jack after the 4th despite being given nothing at all.

This is a reality check. We are scraping the barrel for signings (for whatever reasons) while Celtic go out and spend money to bring players to fit a system that will win the league in Scotland and give a good account of themselves in Europe. If our system is to be more passing and technical then we need the players with the ability to do that and we do not have them.

We move on to Aberdeen, that is the more serious match now to watch for a player reaction.

Credit to Ryan Jack, least had the balls to come out and own his error.

And flip Napoli at HT, 3 up against Pool and missing a penalty?!

Good post Jamger.

Big upgrade in opposition and we needed to be 100% to have any chance.

We performed at 50% and were found out. Confidence, fluidity, sharpness and focus all lacking across the pitch.

Who's to blame? It's not my style to cast blame but if we want to improve we must play against better opposition and when playing in the SPL we cannot compete financially particularly given where we have been in the last 10 years.

Gio will pick them up, work harder, tweak tactics and personnel and bring back injured players and we will improve

It's not an overnight fix but I will be supporting no matter the results.

3.) 07 Sep 2022 21:22:47
Jamger, good post, gio didn't really say a lot on interview. I noticed he just sat watching, not stood in technical area at all. He did say hundreds of millions needed at this level. Were his actions a point to the board ' I told you we needed to spend more '?

4.) 07 Sep 2022 22:42:12
We all will continue to support them DK19, but surely you must agree, we should at least see 100% effort in every game.

A lot of excitement over Tillman and Lawrence, just wondered what is happening Lowry these days? . chat has died down about him and not sure where he would fit in currently, down the squad list currently. maybe Premier Cup matches?

jamger24

1.) 14 Aug 2022 23:49:19
Lowry recently scored with a stunning free kick for the B team v Spartans.
Hopefully he is included in some match day squads as he is undoubtedly a talented player.
We have such a strong squad especially with the new signings.

2.) 15 Aug 2022 00:25:19
He enjoyed his pre season more than he was supposed to. All the players were given a specific programme to adhere to, he never.

Although saying that he’s been injured and only playing in the B team to get him up to shape quicker.

3.) 15 Aug 2022 06:16:26
The way it is the now, it would benefit lowry to go out on loan in my opinion. No point staying and getting 10 minutes here amd there. Preferably a lan to a championship or league 1 team.

4.) 15 Aug 2022 06:35:21
He was injured.

5.) 15 Aug 2022 06:35:26
Lowry would be a standout in any spl team that's where I would put him on loan, if gvb decides he needs a loan.

6.) 15 Aug 2022 09:02:27
Lowey and McCann have went from world beaters in May to B team and loan signings in August on here. What's changed in 3 months? Let's hope both don't end up like young Kelly and pushed out the team.

7.) 15 Aug 2022 09:18:45
Copland 5 Lowry was injured playing for Scotland under21 and was unable to train for six weeks.
He was unable to undertake any program he may have been given.

8.) 15 Aug 2022 09:55:16
Cop5 boy was injured was he not? Where did your info come from?

9.) 15 Aug 2022 10:53:51
Both Lowry and McCann are outstanding players who will contribute a lot to the first team this season, it’s great to see.

10.) 15 Aug 2022 14:30:58
I rate Lowry very very highly but if he is not going too play I think the best option is loan deal until January in the spl he is going too be some player for us.

11.) 15 aug 2022 14:37:38
was told same thing as copeland actually.

12.) 15 Aug 2022 15:03:24
If he is to be 'loaned' it has to be at a high level, either SPL or Championship down south.
No tramping back down our leagues. He has shown he is a player, he needs kept playing at a high level, not getting dragged back.

13.) 15 Aug 2022 23:09:15
Was there not a video during pre-season on our social media of Tav at the training centre and Lowry was the only player in the gym. Doesn’t strike me as a player who enjoyed his time off too much.

Feel like we have bottled the chance of Champions League for the 4th time.

1. Malmo
2. Not winning the league last season
3. Not turning up in the EL Final
4. Now this

Needs some turnaround next week at Ibrox.

That quite amusing that we had too get too a Europa final or did you forget that? at least we were not like them other their and get knocked out of Europe three times in one season first time ever, don't you think that's far far worse? you should be happy your a Rangers man?.

2.) 02 Aug 2022 23:58:40
Forget them and concentrate on ourselves and what we're going to do to try and retrieve this poor display and result! We got what we deserved tonight!

3.) 03 Aug 2022 00:10:23
GVB, we laid the foundations and threw away the league. Winning the Europa was the only way to reap the benefits of previous seasons hard work in Europe. So yes, we failed ourselves.

1hr gone and this has been worse than the Livi performance. Forgetting the GK debate which will rage after the match, we have looked tired, slow and cumbersome. where is the fast flowing football we showed against West Ham gone to?

That was a shocking half of football.

Sideways and backwards rubbish. No point having Colak on as they have given him no service. At one stage 91% possession, commentators keep banging on about crosses. I don't give a flying fiddlers about the number of crosses if they don't lead to at least making the keeper work let alone scoring. We need to attack the byeline more quickly, we let Livi get 10 behind the ball easily with such a slow build up. I said it when we loved Matonda after the WH game. it will be a struggle to use his pace against a low block and today, as per the last season, we can't breakdown a lowblock. Same thing. Poor defending by Bara, awful by Souttar and the fact is, it nearly happened twice more!

Time to waken up and get the ball pace up and be more incisive going forward and actually make the keeper work.

jamger24

1.) 30 Jul 2022 14:12:27
Thankfully we did wake up bringing scouttar off speaks volumes for me.

2.) 30 Jul 2022 14:25:12
A better second half. Souttar going off helped, suddenly less panic at the back. Took Scottie to sort us out, late runs into the box a big change in the second half. Tillman impressed when he came on, Kent very good in second half. Thought Colak did well, offside goal dodgy but he took it well and he won the free kick for the second. Certainly seems to know what it is like to play for Gers already. Great free kick from Tav, 83% possession, 42 crosses? . got to be scoring more from those figures. Roll on Tuesday, will be interesting to see who the starting 11 is.
Positives - we won, showed good patience and grit to win the 3pts.

I like hearing us looking at players in lower leagues as I always think of Jamie Vardy, look where he was picked up from and what he became. Definitely worth a punt in lower leagues of England and Europe.

I am pretty sure i heard Gio say in his interview he did not consult the senior players before making the decision. Said will have to see what happens over next number of weeks. Alf came on to get more match sharpness as he is not fit enough and let the full club down by the sending off. It wasn't a ref blunder, it wasnt incited by the Hibs player, it was plain stupidity. Let the team down, fans, management and also himself as he also misses out on match fitness and a chance to be a sub tomorrow night. And by the way Gio answered the question on how long it has been going on, it wasn't just saturday.

Hopefully they get the space to use the pace. Teams defend so deep against us, it nullifies the pace. Skill and pace to beat the player over 4 yards will be good as then we will get beyond the deep defensive lines.

does feel like we are getting less now for a player who has won the league, a cup, has reached a EL final and scored, a machine fitness wise and is a genuinely great talent compared to what the others got paid for some of their last season 'stars'. Still, it is turning a good profit, just perhaps not as much as we would have hoped.
With regards getting rid of Wilson. do we really know what finances we have and restrictions he is working under? I personally don't so he may be doing a great job on a shoestring budget. Bisgrove has brought a lot of finance in through sponsorship, what else was his remit which he deserves to get the boot for? Still got my support.

no thanks for Jamal. And this is from a big NI fan. Weak in defence and no end product in attack. There is a reason he is not in Howe's squad and I imagine it is footballing ability over the others who are ahead of him.

im curious, is that 180 each game or technically 60? Must say that's a great deal if 60 each, you should see what the IFA charge for Northern Ireland matches against dross opposition compared to watching Rangers versus 3 very big teams!

Funny, I just finished looking at the fixtures to see when we play them, 17th Sept and thinking the same team, they will not roll over as easily at Ibrox that day I bet!
