I think one way of us keeping DJ would be telling him he could play as a left winger when Wallace comes back. I think he could do a cracking job making more runs into the box.

matt_rfc

1.) 13 Dec 2017 21:56:04
Or tell him he is the #1 choice even when Wallace is back.

Wallace has not been missed imo

2.) 13 Dec 2017 22:11:42
Be interested in seeing both players when they are competing for the left back place! Should get another 10% out of them! Put the 'play john further up the flank' to bed in other words we need a left winger and looking at squad I still feel its a priority position

3.) 13 Dec 2017 22:35:23
For the pace and physicality of Scottish football I'd stick with windass

4.) 13 Dec 2017 23:04:47
I reckon windass is much better central but he still frustrates me at times, bit greedy and takes the wrong option to often

5.) 14 Dec 2017 08:09:43
I'd play wallace at left back and play john further up, I think that's a no brainer.

6.) 14 Dec 2017 08:16:42
Windass is not a left winger and has been doing better since moving in behind striker with the freedom to go either left or right. On another note delighted with the 3 points but can’t remember watching a Rangers team pass as badly as they did last night in all my life

7.) 14 Dec 2017 08:34:36
agreed slim jim our club captain will just have to bide his time and wait for a chance to get back in the side

he doesn’t get back in on merit no-one should

DJ has the shirt just now and we’re winning so this lads put down a marker and i wldnt change it

i do sew merit in the idea of wallace LB and DJ ahead of him
in wing but for now i’d leave things as is on defence anyway

8.) 14 Dec 2017 08:36:01
Totally agree Windas is far better in the middle he has played well there and is getting goals he is wasted on the wing what about Walker we were chasing him in summer

9.) 14 Dec 2017 09:26:08
Iv never seen wee Neil Lemon be so cofident before a game so that was so satisfying to see his face after the game 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

10.) 14 Dec 2017 12:03:42
Matt rfc I would say the same with tav also being pushed up field further!

11.) 14 Dec 2017 15:56:09
John was brought here to play in front of Wallace, which was his natural position until Cardiff tried to make him a full back. Injury to Wallace means that hasn't happened, but it will.

12.) 14 Dec 2017 17:14:55
No room for wingers in the diamond formation, finally we are playing a system that suits the squad assembled! I’d say our only winger is Candeias and he can be useful from the bench or if we go to 5 in midfield. I think our priority positions are CM and centre forward.

Morelos needs a partner up top, someone with pace to stretch the defences of our opposition.

For CM we need someone in there with Ryan Jack, I sincerely hope Barjonas goes on and makes the position his own and he will have the rest of the season to do so as I don’t think there will be much spending in Jan!

12 Dec 2017 07:56:41
We could do with a foreign manager, one who can tap into markets we can afford to deal in, one who has contacts in the game and can persuade decorated players of massive experience to come and play in the SPL. We could do with a manager who has passion and ambition and won't select players who are not contributing either with goals or effort even if they have connections and friends high up in the boardroom.

We need a manager who has our best interests at heart and we need to give him time to change things for the better as this league, the media, the brainwashed (by the media) fans, the lack of investment in an inept product can't carry on and needs a shake up. oh 🤔wait a minute.

11 Nov 2017 12:11:17
There's a lot of rumours about Vierra, US finals are imminent I've heard we could be waiting until after they're finished.

matt_rfc

1.) 11 Nov 2017 14:45:17
Sounds good although he can't pull on our a jersey and can't spend 100mil!
Wake up @

2.) 11 Nov 2017 17:10:28
God i hope so matt_rfc. I mentioned i heard patrick vieira was on a list of 5 candidates last week mate, in one of my reply posts! His name would command respect and he has the big name to attract players! He's very friendly with our DOF mark allen! Maybe reading too much into that, though! Patrick Vieira with someone that knows rangers and the workings of our football club, inside out, beside him would be superb, i think! What a massive statement of intent that would be!

3.) 13 Nov 2017 13:31:31
dont get it is he a good manager now as I've not paid attention to him since he was a player and didn't even know he managed

30 Oct 2017 09:06:51
We're really clutching at straws now guys if we want Murty in charge just because we beat a poor Hearts side. For example PC brought us a European Champion who could have easily gone and earned silly money in Quatar or China with no pressure on him, can Murty do that? We need someone with appeal and contacts.

matt_rfc

1.) 30 Oct 2017 09:36:15
Can understand your point about Murty. I would promote him to first team coach if not assistant manager if the new boss is happy to work with him. The old pals contacts book style of recruitment doesn’t work though as Caixinha has just proved. Mark Allen is vital to setting up a proper scouting system where we find hidden gems and sell them on. No big club in the world recruits players just on the managers word and contacts anymore, we have only been doing it because of the aftermath of the Whyte/ Green mess.

30 Aug 2017 07:11:52
The word is we will be signing Lazar Markovic on loan from Liverpool, not sure yet if it's 6 or 12 months.

matt_rfc

1.) 30 Aug 2017 08:13:04
Looks like he is signing for Watford on loan

2.) 30 Aug 2017 09:19:13
Are you on the glue, he was signed for a fortune by Brenda a few years ago and would have a rather large weekly wage. Even to cover 50% of it would be difficult.

I would rather see the money spent on BUYING players. I've said it before, i want Louis Moult and a decent full back. I would love to see Moult and the Buffalo. Target man and fox in the box.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 10:24:00
big cliff i'm with u one hundred percent but our manager believes in herrera and i think that's a mistake.
moult is a big guys that would play well with morelos and has proved he can do the damage himself with 20+ goals for the last two seasons

4.) 30 Aug 2017 12:40:14
Herrera is a big mistake if pedro is relying on him, although I think given the service morelos might come good. He seems keen to try and get some goals I reckon he will get a few this season.

5.) 30 Aug 2017 14:53:45
Young alfie already has 5 a think hel be targetting 20-30 goals whens the last time we had that long time it seems

6.) 30 aug 2017 14:57:33
the one player i really wish we could have had back at ibrox is sone aluko ---- now he would have been a perfect fit---- alas gone to reading

7.) 30 Aug 2017 14:45:39
This is the rumours page not the banter, and no I'm not on the glue. This one has come from an academy youth coach as my son plays academy football in England and he often gives me rumours he's heard about rangers. I've not put who I'd like etc I've put a rumour and he's been right before a few days before the papers have got hold of a story. I'm not saying he is or isn't this is the rumours page.

8.) 30 Aug 2017 15:51:56
No chance

9.) 30 Aug 2017 15:52:59
Would be amazing, but I can't see it

10.) 30 Aug 2017 23:10:36
Aug 2017 12:40:14
Herrera is a big mistake if pedro is relying on him, although I think given the service morelos might come good. He seems keen to try and get some goals I reckon he will get a few this season.

How can you possibly say Herrera is a mistake . What have you actually seen of him to justify that? 1 or 2 games? And a shitty YouTube video? Give the guy a break and a chance .

If you were to look at any Leeds UTD stories/ rumours from the last few days, Goldson to them has been their biggest and most talked about, some 'insiders' calling it all but a done deal. Let's assume this happened, are we happy with the already 3 good centre backs we have and promote one from our youth or would it be be a massive loss? Thoughts.

matt_rfc

1.) 30 May 2020 11:02:29
depends on fee

he cost circa 3.5m so if leeds are prepared to offer say 5-6m yes i’d consider it

he’s not irreplaceable, no-one in that defence is

defence is our main issue i think not midfield or attack we work too hard to get in front in games just to throw it away with basic errors almost every wk

folk say we don’t score enough to win games we do we don’t keep nearly enough clean sheets

proper defending is still a lost art.

2.) 30 May 2020 11:35:44
I think you always miss a player if he’s been a regular past couple seasons then leaves. Goldson has had some criticism some of which I would agree but how much money would it cost for a better cb?

3.) 30 May 2020 11:37:34
Goldson is a unfair whipping boy in my opinion. The way we play with full backs going forwards often leaves our cb’s exposed. Goldson has played nearly every game since arriving and the improvement of our team speaks for itself. I think he would be a big loss but not irreplaceable. He generally plays very well but has had cost us very silly points and that makes it hard to defend him at times. The Hamilton one was school boy stuff.

4.) 30 May 2020 11:37:39
Like I said the other day its the midfield that's the problem. In the SPL and against all but Celtic we are very light at the back when under attack with 4 v 4s and sometimes 4 v 5s, our mid gets caught out all the time to far up the pitch and facing the wrong direction. Pleases have a look at the silly goals we loose and pause the game, look at the shape and tell me i'm wrong. Braga away we defended as an 8 man unit and they found it difficult to get through us and we hit on the break, we used diddy team SPL tactics against a better side. that's how we loose goals, can't rely on 4 defenders on there own to keep clean sheets. Defending starts from Alfredo.

5.) 30 May 2020 11:52:53
CofI and TJBB, totally agree re Goldson, when you play a system 2 full backs bombing on, then, you need covering midfielders who drop back to cover, e. g. Liverpool, we don't have enough workers in our midfield willing to do this at this time, this is where possibly Docherty was underrated as he always put in a shift.

6.) 30 May 2020 12:25:50
A replacement for goldson? Cooper, from Millwall available on a free. Good, solid, reasonably quick CH.

7.) 30 May 2020 12:52:40
Why is he free mrgrumpy?

8.) 30 May 2020 13:00:03
Personally I’d keep goldson as irvger says he plays with one ch partner with 2 full backs bombing on sometimes no cm holding for cover.

9.) 30 May 2020 13:34:25
Connor Goldson is easily our best centre half and is the whipping boy at times, with some of our supporters! Before goldson got the injury after we beat celtic 1-0 at ibrox in december 2018,he was absolutely immense for us. In that celtic game, when jack scored the winner, goldson was immense in that game against them. Big goldson is a good centre half, i don't and neve had any doubt about that!

10.) 30 May 2020 14:13:45
He makes mistakes - all players do and unfortunately he is the new Windass and became the whipping boy. For that reason and for his future sanity he's better leaving - some of our fans really are a fickle bunch. Any mistake the defence made was more apparent in the 2nd half of the season because our attacking players were even worse and couldn't score so if the defence made a mistake then ultimately we dropped points/ lost. Gerard plays him every game for a reason, EPL team and top championship side want him but wee Tam who won the league on PlayStation says he's rubbish and has to go. Who'd take his place? I've read forums where people are suggesting McCrorie - really? Katic still too unreliable (remember St Johnstone at fault for both goals) . Edmunson also made a few mistakes which have cost goals. Goldson is our best defender in my opinion and maybe he worries when Tav disappears up the park and tries to do too much. Next season is huge and we can't start the season with a new defensive partnership.

11.) 30 May 2020 14:25:03
Big cooper isn't free mrgrumpy. He signed a new deal with them last season mate.

12.) 30 May 2020 14:25:30
Am pretty sure he's out of contract this summer jyf.

13.) 30 May 2020 14:28:31
Jyf, because he is at the end off his contract.

14.) 30 May 2020 14:41:30
SGL this has been debated on here re Cooper recently, I also thought he had signed a new deal.
Millwall fc site, transfer market and Wikipedia all say contract up in June.
Might just need to buy him if manager thinks he improves team. I for one think he is an upgrade on three out off four, I’m helander fan.

15.) 30 May 2020 14:47:40
I would happily take 5-6m for goldson and put it towards a warrior cb someone who knows how to defend first and foremost someone that will command his own penalty area and with enough experience to bring on our young cb’s look at Davie Weir he made Danny Wilson look like a world beater by walking him through games talking to him at all times, that’s what we need now! I’m not very clued up in the market when it comes to defenders but there’s got to be someone out there that fits the bill cause we don’t have a leader at the back at all they all play their own game and it’s clearly not good enough.

16.) 30 May 2020 16:36:23
I agree with John. Think cooper is an improvement on what we have.

17.) 30 May 2020 16:44:33
To build a strong team we should only sell a player under a few conditions. Mainly if we already have someone better at the club or if we are offered silly money.

Personally I don’t rate Goodson but I’m honest enough to admits he is still our best and most consistent CB atm. If we have someone better at the club then fine sell him on.

In regard to to price if 5-6 million. No chance! We signed him for 3.5 when no one else would touch him because of his heart defect. He has performed well and was twice the defender that Worrall did who is apparently worth 15 million.

Personally I think we should be looking at a minimum of £8M.

18.) 30 May 2020 22:32:21
Wouldn't go as far to say massive loss, especially if we make a profit on him. Personally would like to see a replacement come in that is the stand out, defacto number one CH and have the others fight out to be the partner.

26 Dec 2017 23:32:21
We might still as well have Forrester and MOH in the squad than Dalcio and Nemane, makes sense to me. I'd also like to see Pena playing at the tip of a diamond tomorrow with Holt/ Jack in the middle and Ross behind.

matt_rfc

1.) 27 Dec 2017 02:44:20
Glad your no the manager

2.) 27 Dec 2017 11:43:56
Pena playing at the tip of a diamond, Pena needs the tip o someone's foot up his arse

3.) 27 Dec 2017 22:22:29
Why not? It’s what gave us 3-0 v Aberdeen and then for some strange reason he changed it. He’s an idiot, Kenny Miller couldn’t stand to see the team playing well without him so he did his shadow puppet master bit and text his pal Murty and said rip it up now get Pena off.

19 Dec 2017 02:03:01
Nobody's mentioning it yet but Morelos is hitting form again right when the window is about to open, thoughts?

matt_rfc

1.) 19 Dec 2017 05:38:57
I think we should try hang on to him mate. If we sell him then we are well n truely done lol. I think if we can move pena, alnwick, bruno, send dalcio back of we can. Then tht there frees up a lot of wages and maby a wee bit of transfer fees. Bring in the boy jones, get john mcginn and a striker.

2.) 19 Dec 2017 06:36:40
Don't think John mcginn would sign for us but stranger things have happened!

3.) 19 Dec 2017 06:49:58
How do u not think that CD?

4.) 19 Dec 2017 07:17:02
We could buy Dembellend for twenty million lol

5.) 19 Dec 2017 07:21:41
Hes from a big celtic family grandfather jack was celtic chairman

6.) 19 Dec 2017 08:52:54
As Denger27 just said he's got green blood running through his veins SG34 he's a great player but I honestly think he will end up with the smelly mob!

7.) 19 Dec 2017 09:16:02
Plus we can't afford him

8.) 19 Dec 2017 09:30:26
what if smelltic don't want him re they going to buy every player we are rumoured to be after

9.) 19 Dec 2017 09:31:48
I heard from a hibs fan that mcginn is going to Celtic in January for £2 million but hibs keeping him on loan till the end of the season again no idea how true that is just something I heard the other day

10.) 19 Dec 2017 09:44:46
Alnwick should be giving a run of games let's see what the lad can do instead of people say punt him boy not had a chance

11.) 19 Dec 2017 14:49:50
Agreed Kaymer, a lot of these goals that Fod concedes are criminal to say the least.

Coming for the cross ball on Sat was a joke and letting a shot from out wide go accross him and in at the far post was just amateurish.

12.) 19 Dec 2017 15:40:49
Why pay 2mill for some then loan him oot dizney make sence

13.) 19 Dec 2017 16:12:42
I heard McGinn to Sellick and LiamHenderson going the other way

18 Dec 2017 18:43:24
The best we've looked in the last few weeks was the first half against the Sheep. Just have a look at how we were set up and who was playing. We looked like we would score 7 by half time. Murts should have stuck with that team and setup it's plain to see.

matt_rfc

1.) 18 Dec 2017 19:05:24
Starting to actually think both of those games were affected by the DM speculation. and by the fact he was very much considering it.

2.) 18 Dec 2017 19:10:47
14 points from a possible 30 at home. Scored 16, conceded 13.

But we have the best away record in the league.

These players need to suck it up and get over the pressure of performing in front of home fans. We all know the crowd starts howling at players from the 10 min mark for a slack pass, but the players need to deal with that or they should be at Rangers.

I also believe this was he reason they bottled the Motherwell semi final. 38k Gers fans at Hampden. Basically a home game. Bottled it again.

3.) 18 Dec 2017 22:09:50
you r right, the presure at home is over the top. fans can help though, cheer them on iso of getting on their backs. if u lacked confidence and your own support start booing yiu then guess what, u start hiding. and don't say they r paid for it. they r humans, and the majority weren't brought up in front of our hostile fans. don't you think the away team know that too. we would be as well supporting the visitors

27 Oct 2017 20:08:10
What would have happened to PC if our penalty went in? What if the foul in their box never happened at all and we saw out the 1-0, what if we beat hearts on Sat after that, do we think they would have sacked him? I'd love to know the truth, it's a shame if Candeas and Jack lost him his job, there were some unlucky results earlier in the season too where we played well. Good luck PC for the future and some of us are sorry your the victim of disgusting journalism, an inside cliche once again, and dinosaurs with no backbone and no desire to make the SPL an entertaining product that people might eventually start watching again. Mcleish, Davies, big Sams bus parking, Moyes (please no no no) . can't wait zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

matt_rfc

1.) 27 Oct 2017 20:26:52
matt_rfc! Is this post for real or are you taking the urine? Pedro"s sacking was nothing to do with the press or anybody else! Pedro was sacked because he was an abysmal manager who should never have been allowed anywhere near our club! And I think you meant clique and not cliche mate?

2.) 27 Oct 2017 20:57:06
Matt if I could hit agree 1 million times it wouldn’t be enough absolutely brilliant and true, it’s exactly what I believe, well bring on the next hammer thrower!

Good luck Pedro!

3.) 27 Oct 2017 21:14:58
The next hammer thrower? Have a word with yourself man! Awww! He was such a nice guy, and if it wasn't for those pesky journalists or realists, he would have got away with it. I'm sorry, but that is one steaming pile of crap you've just spouted there mate. Pedro, nice guy he might be, does not deserve any sympathy what do you want here mate? Do you want a crap team and to keep a guy in charge who is way out of his depth just because he is a nice guy? Or do you want to get someone in who can improve the team and get us going in the right direction? Over to you

4.) 27 Oct 2017 21:31:55
Slk what I want to see plain and simple is football not 11 workmen v 11 workmen kicking lumps out each other maybe that’s your style!
my father was a great footballer and I myself liked to play skilfull football growing up I also played at a decent level, I believe Pedro had a good football philosophy however we keep witnessing that it clearly can not work in Scotland!
Which is rather sad!

5.) 27 Oct 2017 21:53:23
Daz I'm no football expert here. All I want is my team to be successful and get back to where we belong. I'm not sticking up for the media mate. I don't have much, if any, time for Scottish media. And for the sports hacks Like Jackson and co. They mean nothing to me! One thing I am is a realist who will voice my concern when I see the team I love go from one mess to another. I can't, nor I won't, back a dead horse like Pedro. Yeah, he probably was a decent guy but he was no footballing guru who was on a higher plateau to us oiks! I don t ask for much. Neither do I crave a good old fashioned on field kicking and leg breaking. I only want a competent manager who knows what he's doing and can hold a conversation us blood thirsty ruffians can understand. Is that too much to ask my silky skilled fellow? I mean no offence. I am but just a simple lad.

6.) 27 Oct 2017 22:10:04
Yes I ment clique, autocorrect gets a lot of posters on here I notice. When did I say he was a nice guy? Mcleish and Moyes are nice guys and know just what mundane tried and tested brand of football and brand of interview techniques you have to dish out to be safe up here. Sorry you don’t agree that’s fine I’m not trying to sway anyone’s opinion I just hope we get another foreigner and it’s successful this time. I hope the foreigner makes us play technical football just like successful countries in Europe too. PC had balls and the dinosaurs in the press jumped on it to sell stories an get clicks on their site. How many times did you read someone launched a “Scathibg” or “Brutal” attack as they put it and when you read the story it was laughable? Unless this attitude changes we will stay a long long way down the UEFA co efficient, I wanted all the interest we were generating from South America, we could have got young talent over who were looking for a way intonEuropean football, it was all being set up, links with Chivas etc, a different project something outside of the box. Well I hope we all enjoy it if a “Rangers man” steadiies the ship bla bla bla. Groundhog Day.

7.) 27 Oct 2017 23:08:25
matt, have to agree. philosophy was there, maybe he came too soon. i really don't know what the future holds for us. no scottish team playing scottish football will ever do well in europe. anyway ill still be there supporting whoever. i guarantee though it won't be long before the booers are at it again i fear.

8.) 27 Oct 2017 23:29:39
The guy couldn't win 3 games in a row in 7 months. Forget his nationality, it's irrelevant, if he was Scottish or a rangers legend that stat would still have got him the sack. The bottom line is, you can talk about methodology and bamboozle people with technical jargon til the cows come home but if your not getting results then you won't last long, all you have to do as rangers manager is win. Plain and simple, The fans just want to see the team win on a regular basis. that's it. Simple as you like.

9.) 28 Oct 2017 00:52:24
Slk 73 the reason we are all on this page is for the love of this club, I hope we can can agree to disagree on some of the things we have said it’s all through thinking about our club 24/ 7 and having it’s best interest at heart!

All I, sorry, we want is transparency, consistency fight and heart Pedro showed he had passion I want to see passion i feel passionate, I want fight, I want the heart on the sleave of the jersey!

10.) 28 Oct 2017 07:59:17
If we had won on Wed it would just have delayed the enevitable. bottom line was he was in over his head in a job that was to big for him and his record was shocking. nothing to do with the media or journos, that's just clutching at straws now

11.) 28 Oct 2017 09:22:01
100% mate. Two things we all have in common are the love of our club and the desire to see us back at the top of Scottish football. But, until we bring in the right manager, and invest in players who can actually play, then that desire will remain only a pipedream. Pedro was never the answer! If you, and anyone else, thought that he was some forward thinking visionary who was ahead of his time for this backwater league, then unfortunately my friend there will be many a disagreement between us. The man was pure and simple mince. He is, and never will be, a manager!
Let's be honest here guy's. If Celtic had a manager who was constantly talking crap, couldn't string 3 victories in a row together, was sitting fourth in the league having spent millions sssembling a team, and was falling out with their longest serving players, we would be all over it ripping him to bits. The fact that some are actually still backing him is unbelievable! As much as the majority will never admit it, and this won't go down well, he couldn't lace Brenda Rodgers boots!

Can’t see Foderingham sitting on our bench another full season, I was surprised he stayed in January.

I think we had our one time shot at this realistically when we re registered the new company after demotion. I could see it at the time, Cardiff and Swansea play in England so why not us, they would have had no argument against if we started at the bottom in England. unfortunately the people who had the reigns of the club then just wanted to make a few quid and never explored this option. I would have been sensational, the lower league teams in England would have voted us in for the chance of a lifetime financially for them too I think.

{Ed001's Note - Cardiff and Swansea played in England before a Welsh league was set up, Rangers would have needed special permission from UEFA to change over. You have an utterly simplistic and wrong view of this. You couldn't just change over and the people who had the reins would have loved to take that option if possible as there was a lot more money in a move to England.}

True blue- “It’s begging to look a lot like Xmas”, maybe that could make a good festive song? ? ?

Wish it was Weiss but he is out for months I think it’s his ACL. I think that Hyndman could come in and play just behind the strikers, he can’t even make the subs bench for his club, would surely like to come back here and play in front of our big crowd

I’m hoping the Record end up with egg on their faces they’re spouting that we’re offering 1million severance package now, I hope it’s Clarke and everyone’s got it wrong

Why not? It’s what gave us 3-0 v Aberdeen and then for some strange reason he changed it. He’s an idiot, Kenny Miller couldn’t stand to see the team playing well without him so he did his shadow puppet master bit and text his pal Murty and said rip it up now get Pena off.

2 days? Well done Mark Allen, I came up with a list in 2 minutes, like yours though the board would have looked down the list containing the likes of big Sam etc and said well we can’t afford their company car never mind their wage, how about the Landlord from our local pub, his Sunday team are doing well and he’ll work for free pork scratchings? It’s becoming more embarrassing being a Rangers fan at the minute than driving down the main road in Glasgow on a Saturday afternoon with your windows down blaring out Steps greatest hits. Absolute circus, I wish Pedro was still here, thanks for all this Daily Record this is your doing.

Your right, it’s “Not good enough” for our mighty club as we’re challenging for the champions league every year and our league is the jewel in the crown of world football. I’m sure the board can sway Pep away from little Man City though.
