When we were in the 2nd division every single fan was shouting for us to give youth a chance.

Division 1. Give youth a chance.

Championship. Give youth a chance.

I remember reading hundreds if not thousands of posts on here screaming for Ally to stop buying experienced duds who were past their prime and to start fielding the Murray park youngsters who would show some hunger and passion and more than match the opposition at this level.

This year, we finally have a manager who looks like he will deliver what we have all wanted for so long and now a huge amount of fans seem to have forgotten our recent on field mistakes and are complaining about this.

We have made some good signings so far. We were shipping goals last season and rightfully so, this was the first area the manager has addressed. It's the manner in which he has tackled this which is most pleasing. Did he go out and buy ex players who are past it and looking for one last pay day before retirement? No. He gave us exactly what we have been calling for, young decent players who not only cost very little but will also hopefully progress as players and will become players we can sell in the future and make a profit on.

Now people are also panicking because we haven't bought enough new players. I agree that we need one or two more but imagine how these youngsters are going to progress now that we have a manager who uses tactics and knows how to train them properly. Not only that but one who is not afraid to stick them in the first team and give them the opportunities they have been craving and not receiving under recent managers.

Lets not forget that we are in the Scottish Championship, No disrespect to Hibs and St Mirren but we're not playing Madrid every week. We absolutely have the players who can compete and win this division. We also now have a manager who seems to know what he is is doing.

I just find it hard to understand how the same people who last year were calling for us to give youth a chance, stop overspending, live within our means, start unearthing gems from the lower english divisions, buy players with sell on value.

They seem to have forgotten this and have changed their tune entirely.

This is the first time in years that I have actually been excited during a pre season. I check the papers and go online and find stories about players we are linked with and not about us getting dragged through the courts or how much money someone is squeezing out of us. I understand why people are sceptical, we have been through a mountain of sh**e recently. But I can not remember a time when it has felt this good to be a Rangers fan in many years.

Bring on this season.

Good post & I agree. Also t's a tragedy the opportunity was lost to do this 3 years ago.
But we still need some experienenced quality players in there as W/W said to help develop the youth. In my opinion, not Eustace or any veteran, but we have to invest in a proven centre mid - a captain to drive the team forward into the premier. DK said all players coming in should be premier standard. MW quoted a 3yr plan for Champs Leauge. For me it has to be youth guided by quality experienced players.

To a point I agree with the post however I have to point out that the youth team didn't win anything and finished 4th behind the likes of Aberdeen and Celtic. There is no doubt that we have some very promising youngsters and hopefully we finally have a manager who can bring them on however this won't happen overnight and it's vital we get out of the division. Hibs are a good footballing side and will be very tough. The panic as you put it probably comes from the fact that most Gers fans recognise this and we are due to play them away in just over a week. We do need to get some experienced players in and soon. The only way we will win the league is with a blend of youth and experience and by experience I mean guys in their twenties not old duds whose best days are behind them

Could not agree more, everything I’ve wanted, as a Rangers fan, is now happening.
I believe the young players in our squad will thrive, now that we are not wasting millions on over paid has beens.
Finally, finally we have a Manager who seems to be doing exactly what we have all been crying out for and some fans are still complaining. It beggars belief.
Mark Warburton is doing exactly what should have been done 3 years ago.
As for people saying King and Co should put their money where their mouth is, please remember, Rangers Football Club is loosing money, hand over fist, at the rate of £1m per month. Who do you think is bridging that shortfall? Please also remember the Financial Fair Play rules, meaning that, before we can spend money.

Jesus looks like a case of sanity has broken out! Don't know why some fans are so concerned by the hibs game in a week, if we lose its not going to be a disaster its the ramsdens cup man! It might take a month or so to get going but am positive we will and fans are going to love going to the games again

Aberbear

Is that the same tournament we have failed to win 3 times? I don't think you can try and cheapen a cup competition that we haven't been good enough to win.
