Just after reading that livi manager david martindale is wanted by st. johnstone to be their new manager, but livi have refused them permission to speak to him ? Can't see martindale wanting to go to st. johnstone tbh ?I honestly think the experienced manager the perth saints should go for is ian mccall the former partick thistle manager ? He's a good manager and really good coach and i'm sure John227 would agree with me here ?I think he'd be a very good choice for st. johnstone?.

Why not Martindale to St J. Sir walter? Good stadium - grass pitch and winners of the two domestic cups in 2020/ 21 (when have we last done that? 2007/ 08 to be accurate) - better return in cups than US in recent years - not the worst squad in the world and Martindale strikes me as a good motivator and man manager to give the team a boot up the a$$e.

I think he’ll get a better offer than St Johnstone. Hearts job will be coming up soon and they should be going for him imo.

I actually thought Aberdeen or Hibs would have jumped at the chance to have him as their manager I think he's done a terrific job at Livingston given the player turn around each year, usually a tough side to beat, especially at home, has them well organised and I'm led to believe players would run through walls for him, possibly his previous mishap is hindered any bigger clubs so far, I don't mean any disrespect to Livingston when I say that.

ST Johnstone are one of the most successful Scottish clubs out with the old firm in the last 30 years.

During the last 30 years{10 of those years in the first division] They have won more major honours than Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and Dundee utd. Numerous top six finishes including 3rd place twice. 4 major finals which they have won 3. I think another 9 semi finals they lost out[3 OF THOSE AGAINST RANGERS], 2 first division titles and European Football.
Oh and I forgot to mention They are the best run club in Scotland with money in the bank and no debt.
David Martindale would be a mug not to consider St Johnstone.

Livi to St johnston is a step backwards or sideways in my eyes. martingale has it good at livi. bide his time I'm sure he get a better offer.

If correct and martindale is not under contract at liv, they can't stop him talking to them. So it is likely martindale out of respect to liv is not willing to go behind there back.

They`ll end up going for Robbie Neilson as he has a good record of getting relegated teams back up in one season. I reckon Martindale is one of they guys who is in exactly the right place and wouldn`t cut it elsewhere, there have been a few managers n the past who have done well at one club but couldn`t replicate it at bigger clubs . Just a feeling but I think he is one of those.
