quote from Ibrox news. Rangers appear to be closing in on the pre-contract signing of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell.
TEAMtalk. have reported that the Bears are confident of securing the agreement in January, leading to the free signing next summer.

Watch a video of him on YouTube 😂 so a know it’s his best bits but in a lot of the clips he likes to run with the ball at his feet and go by a few player and even try it in the box aswell might not make the starting 11 but would be a good option if game plan was not working.

Dross if you ask me! We do not need this player, he’s not better than anything we have currently. If this is true then I’m really concerned!

We want players to take us to the next level not to take wages just for the sake of it. Players coming in at 26 years old must be good enough to start or don't bother signing them.

Livibear how much do you think these type of players cost and how are we going to afford them I want these types of players to but realistically we can’t afford them at the moment.

How much did the Sheriff team cost? Peanuts I would imagine, so to compete in the Champions League is not impossible for a club like Rangers. We have the carrot of being in a position to offer excellent wages to attract certain players. Livibear is right, the goal should not be to accept our level is Europa/ Conference League, we must have the vision, belief, aspiration, and above all top class scouting system to unearth a few gems that can take us to where we need to be. What about Ajax too! We seem to be signing mediocre players that are not Champions League quality using the excuse we don't have any money. Some of the signing are not even good enough to play in the Scottish Premiership! And where is all the young talent coming through, hardly any, all I see is Patterson and the talk is selling him!

To be fair John i have not heard talk of selling Patterson coming directly from Rangers FC but think its generally accepted if a decent offer comes in he could be away as the club is cash starved at the moment. Personally I rate Patterson very highly and he is just going to get better and better so hope we can hold on to him his value will just increase as he matures. Apart from him how many currently playing in the first team came through the youth system? Do you not agree we should be setting our sights on building a team capable of playing (not winning) in the champions league. i'm sure that is the plan, but without cash to buy top players we must unearth gems from somewhere on this planet and put together a team that can play at that level. How many players do we have that currently belong at that level? don't get me wrong I know this is no easy task but just feel like Livibear we are signing too many mediocre players.

2Blue Ajax is a terrible example they’ve spent in the region of £130m over the past 3 summers.

I understand from friends in the North West that have excellent contacts at the Liverpool Clubs that Everton will come back in for Patterson in January with a major offer. They are keen to have him as their replacement for Seamus Coleman and would offer young Patterson a lucrative long term contract.
If this materialises then despite not wanting to sell him Rangers might have no other option unless the boy is given the right back role. He is a quality young player. Other clubs are now looking at him. He is seen as a player that has both the attributes to attack and defend and while he is still not the finished article he shows all the signs of being a top quality International Full Back. I believe that Gerrard will have to decide whether he plays him or loses him.
