Interesting John, cash versus accrual accounting.

Much we due from Everton John? I know it’s 3m total but how much this summer?

Why would we not already have received payment for Gerrard, what's the reason for this not being paid at the time?

That's the way transfers work, very seldom paid in full.

2blue because it will be the same as most transfers payment not paid up front or maybe there was a clause in it for keeping Villa in the prem John or the Ed will know better than me.

Ouch. Had never considered any of them having those clauses. Bet never imagined having to pay it out. Still would accept that financial hit any time for another run to the final.

Hagi was signed on a £1M a year payment. It's how a lot of deals are done. It's how you sign a £100M player. Pay installments. Great way for clubs to guarantee steady annual revenue streams and avoid FFP as well.

2blue it happens often like this mostly down to the way clubs do their accounts, Villa might’ve wanted the figure to come out of this set of accounts as opposed to their last set.

Rfcrb. It's how u sign a 100M player what 7--10 mill a year? No club on this planet will do business if they were sitting on that sort of gem fs hence why it's all financial fair play now they want the cash up front.

@shagger how many clubs post profit of £100M? Not many. FFP makes sure you spend what you make, so you can't just throw money at £100M players. If you could, Newcastle, as the world's richest club, would literally be offering anything they want to get any player they want, and that's what FFP stops. So instead they buy that £100M player via instalments, and me not being privy to contract I couldn't tell you the split of those payments.
