Shankland, Dykes, Nisbett, Morelos or Colak.
Shankland this season has 18 goals - 10 which are penalties. He also has 2 assists.
Dykes this season has 6 goals - 2 of which are penalties. He has 0 assists.
Nisbett ( just back from injury ) this season has 2 goals - 0 of which are penalties. He has 1 assist.
Colak this season has 14 goals - NONE of hich are penalties. He also has 2 assists.
Morelos this season has 5 goals - none of which are penalties. He also has 2 assists.
So some on here are wanting to replace an unfit, overweight, uninterested, no committed (?) Morelos with Dykes who has scored and assisted less or with Shankland who has scored only 3 goals more than Morelos when you delete his penalties?
If you gave Colak Tavs penalties he has the potential to be on 21 goals.
If you gave Morelos Tavs penalties he has the potential to be on 12 goals from an injury ravaged start to the season.
A fact for bringing Dykes would be that he sets up assists. Really?
Since 2016/ 2017 season Dykes has 52 assists and 64 goals.
Since he joined Rangers in 2017/ 2018, Morelos has 53 assists and 117 goals in 30 less appearances.
Now you might take umbrage at Morelos not signing a new deal.
You might take offence that he is supposedly demanding £45K a week.
You might even be taking the huff over a supposed lack of respect for the club.
But don't embarrass yourself by questioning his goal scoring record and worth to the team by comparing it to all of the above apart from Colak.

We could have taken a punt on Shankland when he was available for buttons but decided against it as he was deemed not good enough, yes he will score goals in the SPFL if given the chance but i'd like to aim a bit higher, if financially possible. Plus you'd now be looking at a honking fee to Hearts for him!

We should be aiming our signings bar at matching up to Celtic, they are thumping every other team in the league, comfortably! We need to be signing players we think are capable of getting the better of Celtic, not players who are capable of chipping in with goals against the likes of Motherwell, Hibs and the proverbial SPFL teams. We've had a few of these types of player in recent years and they rarely make a big impact. Guys that we all say "He'll be a decent squad player and do well in the SPFL" Scott Wright, Barker, Stewart, Jones etc. Guys that would get into most SPFL teams but let's be honest they are nowhere near the level of Celtic or teams we come across in Europe.

We need guys who will walk into our best 11 and make it better, not guys to plug gaps and boost the squad numbers.

I believe agree with your post Spud because you can't compare players goalscoring records who play for Rangers to players who play for QPR and Hearts simply because you get more chances and opportunities to score for Rangers than you do for the other 2 teams. Many goals you think Morelos would score in the English championship with the form and shape he's in at the minute? He probably wouldn't be in the QPR side at present in the shape he's in.

But if club do t deem him to be worth 45k a week and he won’t sign the contract offered
What do you recommend we do?

Should we not be looking at his replacement now so new striker comes in and can get settled in and be ready to fire in all cylinders come next season?

Also even if he gets the contract what’s happening with roofe?

For the size of club we are wanting to compete in all fronts another striker in is good business if you ask me can’t have to many in my opinion how many midfielders do we have

a few good top quality strikers on our team is no bad thing so let’s get another quality one in the door no matter what is what I say ?.

SPFL only:-
Shankland – 3.2 shots per game
Dykes – 3.1 shots per game
Morelos – 1.9 shots per game
Shankland – 10 ‘big’ chances missed
Dykes – 9 ‘big’ chances missed
Morelos – 6 ‘big’ chances missed
So Shankland and Dykes are both having more shots per game but are also missing more ‘big’ chances than Morelos.

If he doesn't want to sign for what's on offer and the club aren't going to meet his demands then Morelos will leave with my best wishes in the summer, Stig.
As for recommendation, I would think that the club are always actively seeking replacements for players who's contract are coming to an end. If not that is culpable behaviour from the Football Department.
On Roofe - talented player but once he's fully fit I would actively seek to move him on before his contract runs down.

thats why instead of all the debating about morelos we should be looking at getting another striker in the door no matter what then its down to players themselves to fight for the position
i say we definitely should be getting another top quality striker in to help us try gain points on Celtic and make a fight of it till the end.
