All this talk about injury prone Centre Halves we currently have got me thinking back to some great players who we never got to see the best of at Rangers due to injuries. Oleg Kuznetsov, Alan McLaren and Brian Reid were great defensive players. Shame we never saw the best of them in a Rangers shirt.

Kuznetsov was a class above but unfortunately he injured his cruciate ligament in his second game against St Johnstone. He was a class act before he joined us. McLaren would certainly have been a top quality defender had he not had to retire due to injury. I'm not sure about Brian Reid, I know he was well thought of at Morton but he played very little at Rangers after his cruciate injury so for me it is difficult to say whether he would have made the grade at Rangers.

Fair point Berkshire Blue. Brian Reid was more great potential to be fair.

Alan McLaren was a superb centre half and if it hadn't been for his knee disintegrating, he would have had an incredible career with rangers and of course scotland ?.

I watched brian Reid playing an under 18 game v hibs ( broon whittiker and co) and he was absolutely terrific and looked like a man playing against boys. Could have been a world beater if not injury prone.

I watched mclaren mark baggio in scot v italy game at ibrox.
A great pity.

I remember boli waiting for a taxi outside a club with 3 females the day after he critiqued Walter in the press any respect I had for boli left at the point.

Don’t think Mols would’ve been with us for very long after the way he started before the injury against Bayern. Never looked the same player when he came back.
