Ok. Just watched Liverpool there with Harvey Elliott playing and has played in every game this season. Same age as Lowry. Why are we looking at lower league players down South that will further stunt his development? He is no kid anymore. Same with McCann and Devine. If these guys are good enough then they should be playing. King is a bit younger and in a position that requires a bit more knowledge and experience so has more time. There are teenagers playing at the top in most top teams. Why are we so slow to bring ours in? Clearly there is/ has been plenty experience to mentor them. Tav, Goldson, Arfield, Jack, Davies, Lundstrum to name a few. Even McGregor with McCrorie. Yes, we need to win games but if these guys aren't good enough now to take on Ross County, Livingston and St Johnstone etc, will they ever be?

Maybe Beale doesn’t think they are good enough hence the reason he is looking to buy players and not playing the youngsters.

Its a double edged sword. King has proven that he can do a job, but any club has to justify why the paid for a player in a position or why they are paying that wage. If the younger players are thrown to the lions and don't crack it. Then the manager gets it in the neck from the supporters and could be the end of that kids career.

I agree that youth should be given the chance, but the Rangers support expect 3 points every game. I always told my boy (who showed potential) not to sign for Rangers, but to sign for a lesser team to see how he goes.

Its a case of walking on egg shells with the directors, supporters, agents and the families.

Liverpool are struggling just now, not currently up to the standards of Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle or sadly Man Utd., they need to spend. That said, you can't really compare the quality of youngster at these clubs to what we have at Rangers. It has been a long time since a top quality player came through the youth ranks at Rangers!

white horse when did king prove that? if anything i thought he came in and proved he's either not ready or nowhere good enough. really struggled.

Seems to be scottish thing we talk about players around 20_23 as youngster who need time, where as other contries play younger players a lot more, if you are not getting game in early 20,s. time to move on .

Gers i agree
however Rangers are very reluctant to give youth a chance over the past few seasons
although they have been thrown on when it was absolutely necessary
mcrorrie definitely deserves a chance and so does lowry bring them on in games were up a couple and see how they go like we did against Aberdeen at the weekend we need to see more of that

if anything if it shows there not going to be good enough for us it might show other teams what they can do and they might find they can do a job for them and increase there value for when they do move on?

White horse i also agree with what you say but again bring them on in games that were wining and give them a shot.

Harvey Elliot was just in for cup game you will be lucky to ever see him again.

{Ed001's Note - are you for real? He has been a regular since last season, the only time he missed games was when he was out injured after fracturing his ankle against Leeds (iirc). He was first choice then as well when it happened. He has already played 18 times in the Prem this season.}

Lithium Harvey Elliot plays quite a lot for Liverpool and you should know that considering he scored against us at ibrox.

harvey elliot is the only liverpool player to have been involved in every single game this season.

Lithium every time I watch Liverpool Elliot is involved, lively player a lot of energy which Klopp loves and as he showed last night can hit a baw. Reminds me of a left footed Kent with an end product.

Put all these things in place for the B Team and hardly any of them break through to the 1st team. Buying average Joes from Swansea and the likes ain't helping Lowey break in.

If Lowry and the likes were that good we wouldn't be bringing in average Joes from Swansea.

When was the last time we were up 2 or 3 goals and able to throw a couple of the lads on? to give them game time.
IMO, we should have 1 of the B Team guys on from the start every week, and then sub at half time or later if they are doing well.
they will never get brought on with 15 to go and we are up by a single goal (which we have shown we don't deal with well this year)

Apart from Patterson, and even then he couldn’t dislodge Tav, I’m struggling to think of any youngster who’s come through our youth system in recent years who has actually nailed down a place in the team. Plenty go on to have success elsewhere, but I’ve always wondered why we don’t seem to produce first team regulars?

The problem playing a young lad from the start when we are at best scraping through games is that if we struggle to get a result then the youngster will be on a hiding to nothing from the support.
As a club we generally haven't been great at identifying and signing youngsters and have depended on bringing in top players from other Scottish Clubs or from overseas. We could have changed that when we had to start from the bottom league and work our way up but rather than develop our own, McCoist brought in the biggest bunch of chancers available!
Going way back to my youth we failed to sign guys like Dalglish to name but one and I know for a fact that St Mirren signed a few quality players that we had scouted but that didn't fit the requirements at the time! (That was when Ferguson was the St Mirren Manager)!
We do appear to be getting better but I suspect that we still have a long way to go!

Elliot is a regular for Liverpool and it seems its more Lowrys attitude holding him back rather than ability. McCrorie deserved a chance in goals and I'd start him ahead of Mclaughlan whilst devine will go on and do a job when given the chance.

21.) 18 Jan 2023
18 Jan 2023 14:29:44
I have said before I don’t think the B team is about us bringing through talent as long term squad players. Believe players like king, lowery, Devine will be sold for a profit without being a first team regular. They may have potential but we won’t see it. All part of our business model I suppose.

onewalter I've been crying out for mccrorie to be given a chance anytime he was called upon he played really well can't understand why he doesn't get the call.
