A big ugly centre half needed now then that should be it I hope its not a project or somebody early 20s I'm after a boumsong or cuellar or kyriakos type someone who's been around and tough and under 30 someone who commands his area not bullied I don't know if we can afford it but I'm looking for a 6.4ft rough cb with pace in the region of 6M or slightly more.

No, Mols, Boumsong was a fantastic player for us, but it was him who couldn't get out the door fast enough himself. He even said someone had racially abused his wife in one of the hospitality suites to try and force through a move.
It was when he went to Newcastle that it all went wrong for him.

Evans has signed a short term contract with Man U I believe? But Rangers was one of his boyhood teams and in proper circumstances I suppose a deal could be reached? But he’s 35 and has had some bad injuries would he be worth the punt? I’m a fan of his as he captains my national team, but his career IS ending. Pity.

Boumsong brought in for free and sold 6 months later for around the £8million mark. Found Scottish football quite easy although he needed his partner, Marvin Andrews, to sort out the physical stuff. Newcastle made the mistake of not buying both.

Would like to see it, is he out of contract?
Probably double the wages that we would pay ideally but if no fee then could be possible.
We have already got Goldson and Balogun that are 30 ish, would we bring another in at that age.

I’m sure MB knows what’s required at the back, we must have a number of targets identified. Let’s hope most of the action on Saturday is around the Kilmarnock goal, wonder what the new boys feel about playing on a training pitch for the first game of the season.
