THE GOOD - Using our get out of jail card to get 3pts - played ok for 5 mins during the whole match! Best shift was by Sima (loan) and Danilo who looks like a forward - Tavs also for 5 min cameo
THE BAD - Where do I start - Usual sloppy defending and little creativity - Dessers is like playing with a man down - feel sorry for him but more for US now and he needs benched for a while.
THE UGLY - Inability to stop tame average crosses coming into box - Davies and Goldson give me the heebeees every time they are paired up as they can't man mark and run towards ball on many occasions leaving men free - IMO I would play Souttar before any of those two - the back four were ballwatching yet again and our smallest left back couldn't pick up Shankland which led to the goal - horrendous marking - and more horrendous communication as to where players are and should be when defending - we are ALWAYS drawn to the ball and NEVER watch players movement! The two CH slow build up play pass to you, pass to me, far too many times in transition and give teams time to cover- also I know this will be contentious but I don't see Yilmaz being answer at LB (he won't do imo) - his distribution and crosses are generally poor and doesn't come close to Barasic for delivery into box - in general our defence needs revamped in a big way or we will still lose goals like this on regular basis - NO ORGANISER OR CAPTAIN/ COMMUNICATOR AT BACK TO GET PLAYERS MARKING UP- TALK TO EACH OTHER - BRING BACK A GOUGHIE TYPE! DEFENDERS NEED TO DEFEND FIRST AND FOREMOST IMO.

Blue, good post mate, ever time Hearts attacked, very infrequently, our Fb's get drawn in too close to the CB's thus allowing Hearts wingers the space to get the ball in, 1st goal is a prime example, as you say ball watching as opposed to man marking. Goldson was very dodgy yesterday with his clearances, I felt Davis was solid enough, he seems a calm head.

Once again though, PC showed his desire by changing things early into the 2nd half, and again the subs all had a huge impact on the outcome. we must though improve our shots on target figure, this would provide more goals I think (5 out of 28) nis not acceptable, PC will raise this point I'm sure before our trip to Dundee on Wednesday. In conclusion well done Gers, we move on to the next game.

Clement will get a good look at these players before the January transfer window opens. we need new defenders and strikers. I'd play youth before Lammers, he's not good enough for the bench. still think Dessers can do something.

Mols if Ridvan had been close to Shankland he could have made a challenge and stopped him getting power on header - ball watching as we always do - even more so at set pieces - also our own corner delivery into box has been atrocious watch how many times we never manage clear the man on front post -no point putting big guys up for headers and coming up short - got feeling big PC will be logging all our basic failings and hopefully he will sort it out!

The way I saw it, great movement and finish by Shankland, similar to danilo for our 2nd. They targeted yilmaz for aerial because of his height, that's obvs not his strength and they nearly got in one other time with a similar effort. Didn't see them trouble us any other time really, I though Ben Davies was good and looks like an aerial power, interesting to see him and soutar together.

Naismith would have us believe our defenders watch players rather than the ball at set pieces, yet that's what his players did all afternoon. Also, the defender had a handful of Goldson's shirt well before any contact was made by Lundstram. Stonewall penalty as was the first one. Watched the highlights on Sportscene and loved seeing his wee greeting face at the end. Made my night.

I know it's easy watching replays, but apart from tav, goldson and Davies attracted towards the ball, and not one defender watching shanklands run, all had their backs to him. I'm sure big Phil will pick up on that!

Every goal that we concede, we can look and find fault with a certain player being at fault. Shankland is a good forward, it was a great cross to the back post and a fine finish. Similar to tav cross and Goal with Danilo, scoring.
Positives where a battling win, coming back from a very difficult away tie in Europe.

I love the way that people try to twist goals we lose to blame others and not the guy to blame . Yilmaz is too wee to play left back, he was targeted and missed long diagonal balls three times in the game. It was nothing to do with the centre backs, Shankland deliberately went out and stood on Yilmaz, its not the centre backs job to go out there . It didn`t come near enough Butland to catch and Cochrane cut the ball back onto his right foot to get the cross in from 30 yds , not something you can blame Tav for not cutting out. Sir Walter always liked big physical full backs for this reason, even converting centre halfs to play there at times. The much maligned Barisic would have prevented that goal just be getting a challenge in .

You might be right John but Ridvan if he had been less than a foot bigger would have headed it away . He jumped but didn’t even reach the height of shank .
